What does a silent block look like?
This does not cover how to remove the lever or how to reinstall it. We believe that the suspension arm has already been removed, and now the silent blocks need to be replaced. With the lever removed, diagnose the condition of the ball joints. If the ball joint needs to be replaced, then read the material: which ball joint is better to choose?
Each silent block consists of two bushings inserted into one another. There is a rubber coupling between the bushings. The outer sleeve is pressed into the metal. And the inner one should be clamped by the cheeks of the subframe, which are tightened with a screw and nut. Hence the conclusion: do not tighten the lever fastening without installing the car on the wheels. Otherwise, the coupling will remain twisted and the silent block will not last long. Now - the crimping process. Any silent block resembles the letter “T”, and the lower crossbar of this letter must fit into the mandrel (see photo).
The upper crossbar, in turn, is pressed by a metal washer. The entire structure is tightened with a screw.
When performing crimping, do not put pressure on the inner sleeve! So only use suitable mandrels and washers.
Removing “old” silents
When carrying out a replacement, the most difficult thing will be to get rid of the “old” silent blocks. The steps look like this: fix the lever and use a drill d=3-4 mm to make a set of holes in a circle. Then, using a jigsaw, installing a file with a fine tooth (“A” or “B”), we cut the rubber. At the last step, having laid wooden blocks, the lever is secured in a vice. The outer sleeve is sawed with a hacksaw. And try not to touch the metal of the lever so that it does not rust.
In theory, replacing the silent blocks of the Renault Logan front control arms looks no more difficult or easier than on any other car. Many people say that the “old” silent block can simply be knocked out. But it seems that they did not encounter a replacement.

Possible knocking noises from the front suspension may be caused by ball joints. A faulty joint can be identified by touch by the play of the ball pin. We replace this hinge.
We check the condition of the dirt-proof covers of the hinges. We replace the hinges with torn covers as an assembly.
On the new ball joint, rotate or tilt the ball pin in different directions. Play, easy movement of the finger or severe jamming are unacceptable.
We prepare the car for the job. We install the car on a viewing hole or lift.

Use a powerful screwdriver to pry the support body under the shoulder (Figure 1)
Leaning on the edge of the lever, we press the ball joint out of the hole in the lever.
We inspect the lever eye - there should be no cracks or breaks around the hole. Before pressing in the new ball joint, thoroughly clean the seating surface of the lever hole from dirt and corrosion. Place a tool head or a piece of pipe of suitable diameter under the lever and insert a new ball joint into the hole.
By striking the mandrel with a hammer (Figure 4, you can use a tool head) resting on the shoulder of the support body, we press the support into the hole of the lever until it stops. We carry out further assembly in reverse order.

Removing and installing the front suspension arms of the Lada Largus car
We remove the front suspension arms for replacement or repair. Damage to the lever can be:
- deformation of the lever itself;
— wear of the ball joint;
— wear of silent blocks.
The work to remove the left and right front control arms is identical.
Operations to remove the lever must be carried out with the front of the car suspended or the car completely raised on a lift. When hanging one wheel, the anti-roll bar will create a load and interfere with the removal of the lever.
To remove the lever, remove the wheel.

Remove the engine protection from below.
Using a 16mm socket, unscrew the nut of the coupling bolt of the terminal connection between the steering knuckle and the ball joint pin, holding the bolt with a wrench of the same size.
We take out the bolt or knock it out with a soft metal drift.
Using a powerful slotted screwdriver or a spatula, loosen the connection between the steering knuckle and the ball joint pin.
At the same time, shaking the steering knuckle from side to side by the brake disc, we remove the ball joint pin from the hole in the steering knuckle.
Use a 13 socket to loosen the bolt securing the subframe bracket to the body.
Using a 18 mm socket, unscrew the nut securing the subframe bracket

Using an 18-mm socket, unscrew the nut of the rear lever mounting bolt, holding the bolt with a spanner of the same size.
We take out the bolt or knock it out with a soft metal mandrel.

Remove the suspension arm.
Install the lever in reverse order.

Sequence of actions
First, clamp the lever in a vice. Then we assemble the structure as shown.
The details go in this order:
- Bottom nut;
- Bottom washer;
- Mandrel with liner;
- Upper washer (it presses on the silent block);
- Second nut.
Once again, make sure that the inner sleeve remains free. The two nuts on the screw must be tightened, checking the result with a caliper.
