Under standard conditions, the complex performs a lot of security functions. But if you need to transport the car to a service station to perform repair work or check the electrical circuit, the Starline A91 alarm system has a special service mode. If the corresponding icon lights up on the display, this indicates that the alarm is now in service mode. If this mode is enabled, the angle/tilt sensor is deactivated, and it is also impossible to activate a number of functions:
- arming or disarming;
- switch to programming mode;
- activation of the “hands-free” mode;
- closing the doors, hood and trunk via a command to the central locking;
- activation of the “Panic” and “Anti-robbery” mode;
- automatic arming;
- calibration of the central unit of the system;
- remote start from the remote control or execution of autorun parameters;
- linking new key fobs to the system;
- change of individual code.
When activated, a key icon appears on the display, which is either constantly lit or blinks periodically.
What to do to make the wrench light up on Starline
When the service mode is set, repair or maintenance work can be carried out, so you need to know how to connect this option. On the Starline A92 model alarm, this is done in several ways, but you must always first disable the security mode in order to quickly transition to this state.
The first way is through a key fob. To do this, press button two and hold it for four seconds. After this, the key fob will emit one melodic signal, and a nut icon will appear on the display.
The second method is cursor. The owner uses short presses to move the cursor to the icon with the key symbol, and then briefly presses the third button. Now the corresponding icon lights up on the display, and some of the security functions are deactivated.
If you have a GSM module and a SIM card with a positive balance, you can turn it on via your phone. Using a special service application from Starline, you just need to visit your personal account and activate the transition to service mode.
In addition, the owner can activate it via voice command. You need to make a call to the system number and say the corresponding code “51”. The option can be activated via SMS. In this case, a similar code must be written in the SMS.
How to remove a wrench on a Starline alarm
If all maintenance work has been carried out, then it is necessary to transfer the system to the standard state by disabling the service mode. On the Starline A93 alarm system, to do this, you need to press the second button for a long time (for four seconds). After this, the remote control plays a melodic signal, and the car blinks its headlights twice, indicating that the mode has been successfully turned off.
For this type of system, a convenient mobile application is available, controlled directly from a smartphone. When installing it, you can activate these options remotely. This functionality is also available from your personal account on the official website. Additionally, you can deactivate the mode via a phone call with voice command 50 or via SMS with similar numbers in the content. In order for such commands to work, the system must have a special GSM module, as well as a SIM card with a positive balance.
What to do if the wrench is on and the StarLine alarm does not turn on
In some cases, the standard scheme for removing from the service state may not work. This means you need to check the following places:
- power element. A weak battery may prevent correct signal transmission. Therefore, you need to check this particular part first;
- battery. The reason for the incorrect operation of the Starline A39 alarm system may be a dead battery;
- If the battery in the remote control runs out before the service mode is deactivated, and after replacement the icon is inactive, this does not mean that the mode itself is disabled.
For completely correct operation of the system, you need to re-activate and then deactivate the mode. An alternative way out is to exit this mode by using a spare key fob (here the exit is carried out only by pressing the keys, since there is no LCD display).
- central control unit. Its failure may lead to incorrect response to commands from the remote control. Therefore, it is important to check its functionality and serviceability. These works are best carried out by a specialized service;
- Incorrect connection of the positive yellow wire, which should go to the ACC ignition switch. Without constant contact, the turbo timer, autostart functions will not work, and the transition to and from the service position will not be carried out correctly.
Basic functions of the Starline alarm key fob buttons
Let's look at the functionality of the control key fob using the example of the popular car alarm StarLine A63/A93. There are a total of 4 keys on the key fob, they are conventionally numbered from left to right (if you hold the key fob with the display facing your face).
First button of the Starline key fob:
- Short press - activation of the security mode (setting the alarm);
- Double short press - turns on the shock sensor of the first zone (front of the car), pressing again switches to the second zone (rear of the car).
- Short press - disarm;
- Pressing button 2 for 3 seconds switches to the cursor function selection mode.
- Short press - request about the current state of the car (the battery charge and temperature inside the cabin are displayed on the remote control monitor);
- Pressing twice quickly turns on the tilt sensor;
- Pressing the third button and holding for 2 seconds + short - adjusts the sensitivity of the shock sensor of the first zone. When you press this combination again, we enter the second zone of the shock sensor, in which you can also adjust the sensitivity (with buttons 2 and 3).
- Double short press - search for a car, at the same time the engine temperature is displayed;
- Pressing button 4 for 5 seconds goes to the key fob programming menu (setting the time, alarm clock, adjusting the volume of the key fob beeps, etc.).
Basic key combinations:
- Long press of the first button + short press of the second - setting to silent security mode;
- Simultaneously pressing the first and third keys on the remote control turns on the “anti-robbery” mode;
- A short simultaneous press of the second and fourth keys will block all key fob buttons (you can unlock the lock by pressing the 1st and 4th buttons).
No feedback: what to do
The Tomahawk line includes models.
- With autostart: Q9 Dialog, 9.3, 9.5, 9.7, 9.9, 10.1, 9.3-24, G-9000, SL-950, TZ-9010, TZ-9030, Z-5.
- Single sided: CL-550.
- Double sided: 7.1, 7.2, 8.1.
But, as always happens, at the most inopportune moment the alarm remote control stops responding to your actions: the car does not open, the display does not work, the light does not blink. Let's look at the most common reasons for poor functioning of the key fob and how to eliminate them.
- The battery has exhausted its resource. Replace it with a new one.
- The remote control has fallen off. Reattach the key fob.
- Poor contact on the switch circuit board. Open the case, carefully inspect the contacts of the chip and display. Carry out repairs yourself or take the pager to a service center.
- Transmitter failure. Contact your service center.
- Damage to the main control unit cable. Carry out the repairs yourself or go to an installer.
- External interference. Move the car to a new location.
What to do if the brake on the key fob is on and the car does not start with the key
Alarm Starline A61 setting the time on the key fob
There are times when the car refuses to start when autostarting, and the key fob shows the inscription “Brake”. This means that the car believes that it has not applied the brake (handbrake) and for safety does not start the engine. Accordingly, to do this, you need to check whether the handbrake is tightened or whether the pedal is pressed (depending on the type of connection).
The Starline A96 alarm system has many different operating modes. But, most often, owners have problems with the service mode.
Not everyone understands why it is needed and when it should be used. Let's look at the example of the official instructions.
Starline PIN code change. Stage 1
The example is shown for the StarLine A93 car alarm, but is also suitable for other models. At the first stage, you need to decide how many digits the PIN code will consist of, since the personal code for emergency deactivation of the security mode or anti-robbery mode can consist of 1, 2 or 3 digits, each of which can take a value from 1 to 6 inclusive. Before entering the PIN CODE change mode, come up with the correct value in advance.
Important! Each digit of the code should not take a value greater than 6 (that is, only the numbers 1,2,3,4,5,6 can be used in the code itself, for example, code 749 cannot be programmed). Important! The PIN code can only be changed when the security mode is turned off!
Important! The PIN code can only be changed when the security mode is turned off!
- Enter the main menu for programming functions; to do this, with the ignition off, press the service button 5 times and turn on the ignition (5 siren signals will follow). If, after entering the programming menu, you do not press the buttons on the key fob, then within 30 seconds the programming mode will automatically exit.
- Short press buttons 2 or 3 to select the AF menu item (most likely it will be selected).
- We enter it, to do this, press button 3 of the key fob first for 2 seconds. (until the beep), and then briefly. The first menu item 01 and its meaning will appear on the screen. (for example 01-1)
- By short pressing buttons 2 or 3, select menu function 9, 09 should be lit on the screen - here the function value. function values:
- 09-1 factory value of pin code 3 (in this case, the pin code on the key fob does not light up)
- 09-2 1-digit code, for example 5
- 09-3 2-digit code, for example 42
- 09-4 3-digit code, for example 631
- Briefly press button 1 of the key fob to select the desired function state. When choosing options 2, 3 or 4, the PIN CODE icon should appear on the key fob display.
- To return to the main programming menu, press button 3 first long (until a sound signal) and then briefly (the AF item in the main programming menu will appear).
- To exit the programming menu, turn off the ignition (3 light signals will follow).
- The first stage is over.
Setting the duration of starter cranking
How to set the time on a Starline key fob?
It happens that the car does not start in cold conditions if the starter operates for about a second (Starline A91 factory settings). In this case, you can extend its operating time. The instructions are as follows:
- with the ignition off, you must press the Valet service button six times to enter the programming mode;
- after turning the key (On), the car's lights will blink six times. Then you need to press the Valet key nine more times;
- pressing any button on the key fob determines the starter rotation speed (first – 0.8 seconds, second – 1.4 seconds, third – 2.0 seconds). Long plus short click of the first button – 3.6 seconds.
To prevent the starter from turning when the engine is running, you need to connect the gray and red wire to the tachometer panel for automatic stop.
How to set the key fob to turn off
In order to avoid accidental clicks in your pocket and activation of unnecessary functions, there is an option to turn off or block the Starline A91 key fob. To do this, press the first and third buttons simultaneously. Unlocking occurs when the second and third keys are pressed simultaneously.
Reset
If various problems or car alarm glitches occur, it is recommended to reset the settings to factory settings. To remove them, you must perform the following procedure:
- the ignition key is inserted into the lock and turned to the On position;
- after this, press the Valet service key 10 times;
- Now you need to turn the key to the Off position. The machine will blink its dimensions ten times and also emit ten beeps, confirming a successful transition to the user settings reset mode;
- press the Valet button again, and the car beeps again;
- The first button on the key fob is now pressed. A short melody will confirm that the operation was successful and all parameters are returned to factory settings;
- To complete the procedure, you need to turn the key to the On position. The second way is to not press anything for ten seconds. The car itself will indicate that the exit has been completed by blinking its dimensions. The keychain will play a short melody.
How to set up the key fob after replacing the battery
- press and hold button three until the third beep. The clock on the display now flashes.
- using the first and second keys we increase or decrease this indicator;
- The next click on the third key takes you to setting the minutes. It is carried out in a similar way (keys one and two);
- Next comes setting the alarm clock, as well as setting the time on the timer;
- To confirm the parameters, just do not click anything for several seconds.
Next, you should restore the remaining parameters set by the user.
How to leave your car running without a StarLine key
The Starline A91 and E90 security system allows you to remotely start the engine, as well as exit the passenger compartment without turning off the ignition. This option is useful for those drivers who often leave the car for short periods of time. In this case, you can take the key, close the door and leave without turning off the engine.
To do this, you will need to open the door for the limit switches to operate. Then press the second button on the remote control for a long time until a sound signal is heard, and then briefly press the second key again. The remote control will play a melody, and the owner can take out the key and leave the car. At the same time, the engine does not stall, and after closing the door, you can put the car under protection.

OC7 error
Many people have to deal with this StarLine error when running autorun. This indication means that the alarm has exhausted all attempts to start the engine, but it still does not start. In fact, the “cipher” OS7 (or, as it sometimes seems, 007) is an attempt to show the inscription “STOP” on a segment screen. There can be many reasons for an error to occur.
Firstly, the engine operation detection itself may not work correctly. In this case, Starline, having completed preparations for the start and cranked the engine with the starter, will start it, but without detecting the fact of starting, it will automatically turn off the ignition. Depending on how the alarm is configured, this is due to:
- Control via CAN. The module itself does not work correctly (reflashing is required) - the alarm cannot read the engine speed from the bus.
- Control by tacho signal: the alarm either does not receive pulses, or at idle their amplitude or duration is insufficient for the alarm to “see” the revolutions. This problem occurs if the analog tacho input is connected to the motor injector. Often at idle, the injection duration is so short that the alarm is unable to register individual pulses. At the same time, as soon as you slightly increase the speed, engine recognition works correctly. In this case, it is worth reconnecting the tachometer input of the alarm to the control wire of the ignition coils, or changing the method of controlling revolutions in the alarm settings.
- Monitoring the operation of the generator (the input is connected to the control lamp) - if the relay-regulator is faulty, the alarm does not recognize the engine starting.
- Voltage control. Insufficient voltage at the generator output when idling, or problems with the alarm connection. For example, if its power is connected through poor-quality twisting, then the voltage drop across it will be noticeable, and when the motor starts, the alarm will not register an increase in the supply voltage above the threshold at which the motor is considered running.
If you do not know how the engine control is configured, check it in the autorun settings menu. We have already written earlier how to enter the menu using the StarLine A93 as an example; for other alarms, check the instructions.
Secondly, autostart may not work due to problems with the standard immobilizer bypass. If you use a modern car alarm with a keyless bypass, you should contact certified installers. In older models that use a regular crawler, check its operation yourself:
- Remove the crawler without disconnecting the connectors from it.
- Remove the key or immobilizer chip from the crawler if the chip was removed from the key when installing the alarm.
- Follow the standard procedure for preparing for auto start, open and close the driver's door, and arm the car.
- By placing the removed key or chip on the ignition lock cylinder, give the command to autostart. If the engine does not start, then the standard immobilizer does not recognize this key, contact a diagnostician.
SP or 5P error
Video: “sp” starline error with autorun
Many people have also encountered this error. But, if OC7 indicates problems when operating Starline, then for the SP indication to appear (from the English Start Procedure, some read it as “5P”) when trying to autostart, it is enough not to perform the “software neutral” procedure correctly. This error indicates that preparation for autorun was not carried out correctly.
If you do everything correctly, then check: 1. The functionality of the driver’s door switch (the alarm “did not see” that the door was opened and closed before arming). 2. The operability of the handbrake limit switch (if it has oxidized, the signal to raise the handbrake will be interrupted).
Similarly, the SP error will also occur when, after arming the car, you disarm it or open the trunk with the alarm. In this case, the “software neutral” procedure will be canceled, and subsequent autostart attempts will become impossible. Perform program neutral again.
Handicraftsmen and reset
Some people manage to reset this indicator temporarily in this way
- Pull the ignition key out of the lock;
- Press the odometer button for 5.0 seconds;
- Without releasing the button, insert the key and place it in the extreme right position (to start). The panel should all light up with LEDs;
- At that second when the entire panel lights up, release the odometer button and then repeat pressing and releasing five times with a minimum interval. Key for several thousand km. mileage will go out. But will this save you?!
Many people do not recommend this method, since there is a high probability that you will be 1000 km away. If you forget about the signal on the side of the car, you will cause even more damage, and sometimes even irreparable.

Possible problems and their solutions
Users of Starline A91 security systems and other modifications sometimes have problems - the system does not exit the service mode. People often do not read the operating instructions carefully and perform actions in the wrong sequence.
First you need to enter the cursor control mode, and only then turn the option on or off. Be sure to wait for the correct sound alarm to appear after each action. It is also necessary to be near the car to ensure reliable reception of the tag signal; If you do everything according to the instructions, the system will exit this mode.
What is service mode

During operation it is practically not used, but when repairing a car it may be needed. Sometimes it is also commonly referred to as the maintenance mode, implying that it allows you to effectively perform maintenance on the security system and the vehicle.

Instrument panel warning: ENGINE TEMPERATURE / COOLANT TEMPERATURE
Why did the icon appear: The red thermometer icon that appears on the dashboard indicates that the coolant temperature has reached a critical value. That is, the arrow on the engine temperature indicator has almost approached or is already in the dangerous red zone.
In this case, the appearance of the icon means that your car's engine has overheated. Perhaps the reason for the appearance of this icon was an antifreeze leak, air entering the cooling system, or a malfunction of the water pump (pump). Do not ignore this serious warning under any circumstances as it may result in damage to your car's engine.
What you should do: You should stop immediately and choose a safe area. Under no circumstances, if the engine overheats (the temperature gauge is in the red zone for at least a short time), do not turn it off when you stop the car. Turn on the heater to maximum temperature and maximum airflow into the cabin. This will help cool down an overheated engine gradually.
Usually, if there is no antifreeze leak, in order for the engine to cool down, it needs to be allowed to idle for several minutes with the heater on at maximum mode. If you turn off the engine, there will be a sharp change in engine temperature, which will most likely lead to possible damage.
True, if the cause of engine overheating is a coolant leak, you will still have to turn it off, since the heater turned on at maximum power will begin to supply antifreeze vapors into the cabin, which are very dangerous to human health. But how to determine a leak while in the cabin? This is usually indicated by steam from under the hood, resulting from the evaporation of coolant that has entered the engine. Also, a possible leak may be indicated by the smell of burnt sugar in the cabin, which appears when antifreeze evaporates.
Next, you must determine the cause of the engine overheating. To do this, open the hood and carefully inspect the engine compartment. If it's dry and you don't see any signs of antifreeze leaking, check the antifreeze level. There is a possibility that the cause of engine overheating is low coolant level. So, theoretically, you can add antifreeze to the maximum and continue on your way. But it would be better if, if the engine overheats, you visit a technical center for a comprehensive diagnosis of the machine. And not under its own power, but either in tow or on a tow truck.
What happens if you ignore the warning: If you continue to drive with an overheated engine, the engine's major components will likely suffer severe damage. Thus, as a result of driving on an overheated engine, the cylinder head, valve stem seals, head gasket and other important components are deformed. As a result, the engine will require expensive repairs. It is possible that an overheated motor may not be subject to repair. In this case, you will have to purchase a new or contract used motor.
Also, due to the enormous temperature in the engine compartment, the coolant hoses may be damaged.
So think before you hit the road with an overheated engine. And even if the car service is very close. It would be wiser to take the car to a tow truck. In any case, towing the car with a tow truck will cost less than replacing the engine.
What to do if the Starline A93 key fob blocks the fuel pump
When connecting the alarm, an additional relay is installed, which is responsible for blocking the fuel pump. It is this that can fail - the engine may not start at all or start for a few seconds and stall. If such malfunctions occur, it is necessary to check the corresponding relay for proper contact.
It is also advisable to check the serviceability of the immobilizer bypass, which may be the cause of the malfunction. The likely problem is a broken or inconsistent connection of the wires. In this case, you will need to check the cable for the relay contact and the fuel pump using a light bulb (12 Volts). The tester will not help here, because it will not show the presence of a bad contact. Often the problem arises from the fuel module plug, which must provide reliable contact.
Errors when reading the temperature sensor
When trying to check the engine temperature from the key fob, an HI error (read as “n1”) may appear. This indicates that the sensor is faulty and Starline considers the temperature too high (from English HIGH). Since the engine temperature sensor is a thermistor, the resistance of which is proportional to temperature, then most likely this resistance has increased due to oxidation of the twists or has become infinite (broken wires). The sensor itself breaks down much less often.
Similarly, the LO (LoC) error is associated with the temperature sensor. It indicates that the temperature is too low - that is, physically low resistance at the input of the temperature sensor (short circuit in the wires).
On older StarLine models (for example, A91), the engine temperature sensor was connected parallel to the hood limit switch. Often, installers saved time by not extending an additional wire from the sensor to the central alarm unit, but by connecting it to the limit switch wire directly under the hood. This leads to incorrect temperature recognition: the sensor must be connected as close as possible to the central unit connector. Water at the very end of the hood also creates problems (condensation, consequences of car washing). Subsequently, engineers abandoned the joint connection of the sensor with the limit switch, and this problem disappeared.
What to do if the car does not disarm the alarm system?
The Russian manufacturer of security systems Starline has provided several ways to disable the anti-theft system without interacting with the key fob. The system is deactivated using the emergency key or using a specialized access code.
Deactivating the alarm using the valet button
The “Valet” service button helps disarm the car from the alarm system if the key fob does not work and the driver does not know the service password. The key is most often located in the following places:
- under the steering wheel;
- behind the glove compartment;
- behind the radio;
- under the control panel;
- near the pedals;
- in the design of safety elements.
Algorithm for deactivating the anti-theft system using the “Valet” button:
- Activate the alarm by opening the car door lock.
- Set the ignition key to ACC mode.
- Find the “Jack” button and click on it three or four times.
- Remove the key from the ignition.
If everything is done correctly, the alarm will turn off and stop sounding alarms.
Deactivating an alarm using a code
The anti-theft system can be deactivated if the key fob is faulty using the service password. The initial code is set by the manufacturer - the security system is assigned the numbers 11.
Algorithm for disabling the Starline alarm using the service code:
- Activate the alarm by opening the car door lock.
- Set the ignition key to ACC mode.
- Click on the “Valet” button - the number of clicks corresponds to the password number.
- Set the key to the “OFF” position.
- Return the key to the "ACC" position.
- Enter the code for the second digit of the password by pressing the “Valet” button
The number of clicks on the service key corresponds to the password number. If the code begins with the number “3”, then you need to click on “Jack” three times.
Removing contaminants
The Starline security system does not respond to the key fob if the structural parts of the remote communicator become dirty. You can clean the remote control from dust deposits and moisture in this way:
- Clean the housing with a dry cloth.
- Dismantle the batteries by cleaning the slot intended for installing the battery.
- When traces of oxidation appear, elements consisting of metal are cleaned with alcohol.
- Disassemble the device body using a Phillips screwdriver of the appropriate size.
- Clean the parts located inside the structure using a dry cloth that does not leave marks or lint.
- Clean the microcircuit using cotton swabs, a brush or an eraser.
- Reassemble the device body, returning the parts to their original positions.
At the end of the work, you should check the key fob: if everything was done correctly, the security system will respond to commands without any delays.
Step-by-step guide to disabling
If the vehicle engine does not start due to the alarm, then you can disable the anti-theft installation using several methods:
- by emergency shutdown of the installation;
- using a secret code to turn off the siren (the author of the video is the REALAUT0 channel).
Regardless of the method you decide to implement, you will in any case need to find out where the Valet service button is located in the car. This button is intended to switch the anti-theft system into service mode. As a rule, it is mounted in a hidden place so that a potential criminal cannot detect it, otherwise the attacker can also turn off the alarm and steal the car. So if you are faced with the need to search for a button, then try to remember where you placed it when installing the alarm or call your installer for advice.
Possible locations for this button:
- on the center console, under the steering wheel, closer to the engine compartment;
- under or inside the glove compartment;
- behind or under the ashtray;
- Many car center consoles have several pockets for small items, try looking in them;
- the button could also be installed in the panel area of the central tunnel, which runs from the console to the rear seats;
- directly behind the control panel;
- in the area of the fuse box;
- next to the pedals;
- on the front or rear doors.
StarLine service mode management
When the service position is activated on the Starline A39, A63, A9, A96 or E90 alarm, some functions become unavailable to the owner. For example, in this position you can unlock or lock the doors, open/close the trunk, and activate the window closer. At the same time, recording new key fobs, changing autostart parameters or an individual unlock code is impossible.
Moreover, changing the parameters for automatically closing doors in this position is carried out exclusively through the Valet button.
- place near the pedal assembly;
- space under the steering column;
- the inside of the compartments for small items on the door cards;
- central tunnel between the first row seats;
- space under the front decorative panel, near the fuse box.
Enabling Starline service mode
To transfer a car, for example, a Nissan Terrano, to a diagnostic service, you will need to temporarily disable the security functions. The owner of the car must enable the service mode and transfer the car to the appropriate state. To do this, you need to disable the security mode - transferring to the service position is impossible without this.
Switching on is carried out as follows: you need to set the cursor icon on the key fob to the wrench symbol, and then briefly press the third key on the remote control. After this, the car will emit one light signal, and the key fob will play a melody. A wrench icon will appear on the display. For Starline i96Can, I95, A92, A94 or A95 systems, the functions of remote control of door locks will continue to work, but the shock and tilt sensors, as well as other security options, will be disabled.
Also, if you have a GSM module, you can activate the repair mode using a mobile application. The owner must send an SMS with command 51 to the built-in SIM card or make a call where he can give command 51 in voice mode. Or go through his personal account on the official website of the company (you must go through the registration procedure).
How to disable the StarLine anti-robbery service mode
This function is designed to scare away car thieves in an emergency. When the anti-robbery mode is activated on the Starline A92, E91 or E95 models, the car turns on sound and light alarms, locks all doors, and turns off the ignition on the engine, first pulsed, then permanently. At the same time, the key fob vibrates and plays an alarm signal.
This option is activated from the key fob by long pressing the first and third buttons. After this, the corresponding icon will become active on the display. The car owner can enable the hidden anti-robbery mode. It is activated after the driver closes all the car doors and presses the Valet service button for two seconds.
It is important that deactivating the Anti-Robbery mode (when turned on from the key fob) from the remote control is impossible. It is carried out exclusively through entering a personal code
- you need to move the cursor to the corresponding icon;
- Briefly press the second key on the remote control.
It is not possible to activate the anti-theft function in repair mode.
Indication on the key fob screen
The icons on the Starline A91 key fob are divided into several functional groups:
- Animated icons on the image of the car are responsible for transmitting information about the status of the car. “Hood”, “door” and “trunk” indicate the activation of the corresponding limit switch, the key behind the windshield indicates that the ignition is turned on, and smoke at the exhaust pipe indicates that the engine is running. The “brake” indicator on cars with a manual transmission signals that the handbrake is pulled, on cars with an automatic transmission it indicates that the brake pedal is being pressed. “Hammer” indicates the shock sensor is triggered. Nearby there are icons with a lock (open or closed, respectively, indicating a disabled or enabled security status) and a speaker (crossed out – sound signals are disabled);
- The bell and hourglass icons next to the digital clock indicate that the alarm and countdown timer are on;
- The “Manual transmission” indicator lights up if the alarm system is configured to automatically start a car with a manual transmission. This is not a key fob setting, it is set during installation and cannot be disabled by the key fob or through the system settings menu;
- the bottom row of icons is a cursor menu with which you can select the modes of periodic autostart, turbo timer, immobilizer, Valet, auto-arming;
- the icon with a thermometer lights up when polling the vehicle’s condition simultaneously with the engine temperature being displayed in place of the digital clock;
- “Satellite” appears on the screen if the M20-M21 beacon is connected to the system in slave mode (that is, it does not work autonomously, but as a GPS/GSM signaling interface);
- The “PIN CODE” icon lights up if a secret code is specified in the settings, which is used when disarming the car without a key fob.
Disabling Starline using the service button
As already noted, the Valet key is used in particular for emergency disabling of the security mode when it is impossible to use the control panel. The algorithm of actions differs little from model to alarm model, although the number of clicks may vary.
In general terms it looks like this:
- open the doors and turn on the ignition;
- within 20 seconds press Jack: three times (A91, A92, B94, E90) or four times (A8);
- turn off the ignition.
To disable the A61 model, you will have to enter a personal code using the same key - in the second stage, pressing it a number of times equal to the password digit.
How to disable anti-robbery mode
The mode is designed to prevent not only car theft, but also robbery of its interior. To do this, the alarm is automatically set together with the engine blocked. You can turn it off either using the key fob or without it.
The enabled theft prevention mode is turned off by both the main and additional key fobs by pressing the second key. There should be two presses and both should be short. After the first one, the machine will stop emitting constant alarm signals and the LED will start blinking. And after the second one, the engine will be unlocked and the alarm will turn off completely.
The anti-theft function can be turned off without using the remote control.
- turn off the ignition, get out of the car and close the doors;
- open the door again and sit in the salon;
- close the door from the inside;
- turn on the vehicle ignition;
- find the Valet service button and hold it for three seconds;
- turn off the ignition and leave the car.
The car should respond with two short signals from the standard siren of the security complex.
Remote engine shutdown
Starline A91 allows you to remotely turn off the car engine both to prevent theft (the interlocking circuits should in this case break the wiring sections necessary for the engine to operate, and not block the starter), and to terminate the autostart early.
In the first case you will need:
- Program function 8 of the service menu in advance (see procedure above) to value 1 or 2. In the first case, the engine, after turning on the “anti-robbery” mode, will be turned off the first time you press the brake pedal, in the second - immediately.
- To directly turn off the engine, simultaneously press and hold buttons 1 and 2 on the key fob.
Disabling the anti-robbery mode will require pressing button 2, as with normal disarming.
To turn off an engine running on autostart:
- On the main key fob, press button 2 for a long time, then briefly press button 3.
- The additional key fob does not provide the ability to turn off the engine.
Disabling the turbo timer
If, in the case of temperature-based start, the mode allows the engine to automatically warm up before driving, then thanks to the turbo timer it gradually cools down. If the need for the function disappears, it can be disabled.
The turbo timer is turned off when the security mode is turned on. To do this, first long press the third button to enter the settings menu at the bottom of the display. Then, using short presses on the same key, select the icon with the inscription “TURBO” and confirm the choice with button number 1. In accordance with the instructions, the “Turbo” button will disappear from the display and a melodic signal from the key fob will sound.
How to set up a key fob - basic functions
In terms of the set of functions, both the main and additional StarLine A93 key fobs are similar, except for the fact that all combinations with the “4” button on the additional one are impossible due to its physical absence. A number of functions are activated by different combinations of buttons on different types of key fobs.
There are three types of button presses used for control - short, long and double. A long press is carried out until a signal is given, in other cases it lasts about a second. A double tap is two short presses of a button within a period of no more than a second. If the combination involves sequential pressing of different buttons, then the first of them is long (until the sound signal), the second is short.
Something else useful for you:
Basic settings of the Starline key fob:
- arming: short press button 1;
- disarming: short press button 2.
In both cases, the car gives light and sound signals; in case of an alarming event, a siren sounds in security mode.
If we put the car on security, but it should not give signals (for example, at night under the neighbors’ windows), then use other combinations:
- Setting: sequentially (see above) press 1 and 1 on the main key fob or double press 1 on the additional one.
- Removal: press 2 and 2 sequentially on the main key fob or press 2 twice on the additional one.

I also had this problem, how to cure the f... fucking sensor? Where is he anyway? If you don’t know, I’ll find it and destroy it myself, no sleep or rest for my tormented soul))) This game entertained me all night until I extracted the resource of this attraction from under the hood... But that’s not the point, the alarm system is needed so that I I slept peacefully, but here it seemed to be there, but it was better without it... On the one hand... And on the other, the car was unguarded...
For a note I will say this; turning off the alarm with the remote control helps for a few minutes, after which the car turns on the siren mode again, I decided to set the silent mode by pressing: the first button on the remote control for a long time and after a short beep, briefly the second button, an icon appears on the display
Description of the StarLine key fob
The delivery package for Starline car alarms includes two remote controls, one main with feedback and a screen, the second without a display. The main key fob allows you to set any values of the parameters and functions of the “signaling” programmed by the developer. The functionality of the spare communicator is lower due to the lack of a warning system and an LCD screen. Overview of the capabilities of the StarLine A93 key fob
The engineers undertook a major change in the size of the body downwards. They also changed its architecture to a modular design. This allows you to diversify the functions of the StarLine A93 model by integrating a GPS router and a GLONASS module. In this case, you get a whole anti-theft complex from StarLine A93 for security, controlled from a long distance, using a special application for mobile phones. It also has the ability to conduct satellite observation anywhere on our planet.
If your car has LIN and CAN buses, there is no need to despair - this model allows the integration of LIN and CAN adapters. The StarLine A93 car alarm has a method of operation that allows the original StarLine A93 key fob to access the functionality of the car alarm. A validation mode is built in, with the need for initial identification of the owner from certain buttons.
The functions performed by the device are quite extensive:
Car protection with StarLine A93 alarm system
- Optionally, you can use a controller responsible for the interior space of the cabin;
- The body part is protected by a two-level shock sensor and a tilt sensor;
- Limit switches control the parking brake, brake pedal, luggage compartment, hood and doors;
- Optionally, you can add a relay that prohibits starting the engine;
- The vehicle's ignition circuit is monitored.
Protection of the StarLina A93 key fob itself
In the StarLine A93 car alarm system, the protection of the key fob itself is also thought out, it consists of:
- The company producing car alarms StarLine A93 has its own distinction - the radio communication channel of the car alarm is protected by an interactive password, with individual 128-bit encryption. Interesting fact. StarLine is so confident in its security that they offer a bonus of one and a half million rubles if someone manages to hack this model. The improved 128-channel transmitter does its job well in the noisy air of big cities;
- The parameters and settings specified before turning off the device are saved and the device returns to them immediately after turning it on;
- Communication with the vehicle is controlled without human intervention. The owner of the complex always knows that his vehicle is under control, regardless of the distance. As soon as the connection is broken, it is immediately signaled using the buzzer of the StarLine A93 car alarm control panel.
Anti-theft features
When setting up and activating the anti-theft mode in the alarm using the Starline A93 key fob, you can:
- The activated alarm mode is accompanied by an immediate reaction with light and sound;
- When an alarm is triggered, a signal is instantly sent to the StarLine A93 alarm key fob with a liquid crystal display;
- A silent way to activate the security mode is available;
- It is possible to turn on the security system with the engine running - for short stops;
- The car alarm can be activated and deactivated without using the key fob;
- There is the ability to automatically activate security if it is accidentally turned off;
- Immobilization mode of operation;
- There are settings that prevent possible robbers;
- "Panic" mode;
- To urgently disable security, the StarLine A93 model has a programmable individual chain of pressed keys;
- Engine blocking in case of unauthorized removal of the alarm;
- Two steps can be programmed that will lock the motor.
Own diagnostics
The StarLine A93 car alarm key fob provides self-diagnosis of the alarm system, namely:
- If a non-functioning zone is noticed while on guard duty, it will be immediately marked;
- Immediate notification of the reason for the alarm;
- The operation of the alarm system is illuminated by a diode, and there is also a suitable icon on the key fob display;
- As soon as the alarm is activated, a sound alert immediately follows around the car;
- The sensors protecting the car independently monitor their performance. If they fail, a message is sent;
- Limit switches have their own operation diodes;
- The key fob has a simple and intuitive interface;
- The display is equipped with a soft white backlight;
- There are 3 sound alert options and one vibration mode to choose from.
StarLine A93 car alarm key fobs show already activated parameters and operating modes, and indicate the overall functionality of the security mode. The extended operating temperature range (from -50 to +85 degrees Celsius) will allow you not to worry about the fact that the key fob may become too cold or overheated, and the latest batteries and programs used in the device allow you to not worry about recharging for a long time. For example, the device is guaranteed to last 60 days in operating mode, maintaining the required level of energy to start the engine.
Registering a new StarLine A93 key fob
To record a new key fob for the StarLine A93 car alarm into the alarm memory, you need to turn it off, touch the service button 7 times and turn on the engine. There should be 7 beeps confirming that recording has been activated.
After the last signal, immediately touch keys 1 and 2 and this action will also be accompanied by a sound signal from the machine. Each StarLine A93 alarm key fob should be stored for no more than 5 seconds. You can store 4 pieces in total.
Service mode - to enable the service setting in the service, you must first disable the alarm. Then use the cursor method to activate the wrench icon.
Attention! When saving new devices, do not forget to register the previous ones, because only the last recorded key fobs are stored in memory.
The StarLine A93 car alarm system is a serious complex designed to constantly and vigilantly protect the vehicle property of its owner. It has a lot of functions and, due to its modular design, allows you to easily expand them. You can manually program and configure different rules for operation. For programming, there are tables that explain how to perform this or that action.
Why is it used?
As already specified above, a similar mode is used for security system settings. To do this, some functions that may interfere with the settings are disabled. Can also be used for a number of electrical and engine related jobs.
These are the functions that cannot be enabled and used in service mode.
- Removing and arming the system.
- Working with central locking. It cannot be opened or closed.
- Hands-free mode.
- Turning on the pre-heater.
- Panic mode.
- Automatic switching to security mode when the trunk is open.
- The main unit cannot be calibrated.
- Visit the CAN information section on the website.
- Automatic (by timer) and remote engine start.
- It is impossible to enable the anti-robbery mode.
As you can see, the security functionality is significantly limited. But this is precisely what allows the owner to eliminate a number of vehicle malfunctions without additional difficulties, as well as perform its maintenance.
Volume settings
To adjust the volume mode of the controllers, the driver must know the location of the Valet service key. The setup procedure is carried out through the main pager, which must have a feedback function. When the ignition is turned off, the service mode key is pressed five times, then the ignition is activated. The car siren will emit five beeps. Press key number 2 on the remote control. The message SO UN will appear on the pager display, this indicates that the security system has been switched to volume control mode.
- To configure the parameter, press and hold key number 3 in this position for several seconds, then press the button on the left.
- The pager display will display a number that corresponds to the volume level. To make adjustments, press the third key once. To increase the volume level, you should go through all the modes in a circle and select the required value.
To deactivate the adjustment function, turn off the ignition.
Anton Megavolt spoke about adjusting the controllers, as well as setting the siren volume in the Starline security complex.
How to reset?
If the Starline security complex did not save the changes during setup, then you need to reset the configuration to the factory one and adjust the parameter again.
The procedure for resetting the configuration to factory default is as follows:
- The ignition in the car is turned off; there is no need to remove the key from the lock.
- The service mode entry key is pressed 9 or 10 times. The number of clicks depends on the specific model; check this point in the instruction manual.
- The ignition is activated by turning the key in the lock.
- The security system will emit a certain number of sound signals, depending on the number of clicks on the service key.
- The button to call the service mode is pressed again, now the car owner needs to wait for a response signal from the system.
- The first button of the pager is pressed, the key fob should emit a sound signal, after which the function of resetting all settings is confirmed.
- To leave the menu, activate the ignition. If the procedure was carried out correctly, the car’s turning lights will blink five times. Then you can re-program all modes.
How to use the remote control?
In accordance with the instructions for setting up the Starline key fob, before using the device, you need to install a working battery in it. The battery is inserted into a special compartment located behind the back cover of the pager. To gain access to it, the cover plate is dismantled. If it is fixed with a self-tapping screw, you must use a Phillips screwdriver.
Operating modes
Description of the operating modes of Starline anti-theft systems:
- "Anti-robbery." The user can, upon command, block the operation of the motor if a robbery occurs on the vehicle. The power unit is stopped after a certain time interval, as soon as the attacker leaves the crime scene. This is necessary so that the user has time to call the police.
- Advanced immobilizer. Allows you to block engine operation in security mode. This occurs due to the rupture of the electrical lines necessary to start the engine.
- Self-diagnosis. All Starline alarms have the option of checking the status of protective zones, as well as the constituent elements of the systems. If a malfunction is detected, information about this is transmitted to the remote control equipped with a display. The data is displayed in the form of indicators and allows you to identify non-working areas.
- "Panic". The function is used to scare intruders away from the vehicle. The option is launched by command from the remote control. When it is turned on, the siren will sound several times and the car's headlights will begin to blink. This is done in order to draw attention to the car.
- Vehicle security with or without sound. When silent protection is enabled, the user will only know when alarms are triggered by readings on the remote control. The siren is not activated so as not to attract the attention of an intruder. According to the developer, this way the hijacker will not try to quickly leave the crime scene.
- Automatic activation of protective mode if it is accidentally disabled. Activation is carried out in the case when the security was deactivated, but not a single car door opened.
- Silent operation of shock regulators when external influences on the car body or windows are detected.
- Using a pager, the user can determine the location of the vehicle. This function is enabled only in models where it is initially provided or where it is possible to additionally connect a GSM module.
- Service mode, which allows you to control the anti-theft complex in the absence or failure of the remote control.
Setting up shock sensors
Attention! This method is suitable for the most common starline alarm models A63, A93, A64, A94, B64, B94, D64, D94, E60, E90, E61, E91.
The “Starline” service mode, also called “Valet”, is designed to disable the security functions of the alarm system during vehicle maintenance or repair at a service station.
