To get inside the car, we need to carefully pry the edge of the seal (from the side of the locking mechanism) and pull it out of the groove.   2. Next we will need to find a suitable piece of metal wire. Its length should be no less than the height of the door. At the end of the rod you need to make a 2-3 cm long bend at an angle of 45 0.
  3. Now you can proceed specifically to the “opening” procedure itself. We insert the bent end of the wire into the door gap prepared in advance until it collides with the “obstacle”. This is usually the locking mechanism. Next, you need to gently twist, advance, and shift the wire to find a way around the lock. When you feel that the rod has “failed,” you need to carefully move the wire so that the curved end catches on the lever of the locking mechanism. Carefully pull the wire upward to open the doors.

  • You should not try to use thin wire for this method, as it will simply bend, and a thicker product will not be able to be inserted into a small slot.
  1. Using a thin fishing line, but always strong. In a similar way, you can try to open a car door using a fishing line, which should be thin and at the same time strong enough. A small loop is made at the end of the fishing line, and this end is pushed into the gap between the body and the door seal. Having inserted the fishing line inside, you need to move it in different directions until it wraps around the loop of the door flag. Next, all that remains is to pull the ends of the fishing line so that the flag rises up. This method of opening doors is suitable if the car is equipped with a special flag, with which the car door is closed.
  2. You can also try to open the door of the VAZ-2114 using a tennis ball in which a hole is made. To do this you need to do the following:
  • press the tennis ball firmly against the car door lock, making sure that the hole where the key is inserted exactly matches the hole of the tennis ball;
  • press the ball sharply so that a stream of air enters the inside of the castle;
  • the air that gets inside should raise the door flag, which will help open the car door.

Many car owners claim that opening the trunk is much easier, and a key from another VAZ model will help with this. To do this, you just need to contact the driver of the other car and ask to use his keys.

However, there are disadvantages here too. For example, the luggage lid fastening loops have a fairly large radius of movement, and therefore can touch things in the compartment.   3. Fasten the plate to the activator, leaving a gap of about 15 mm, and then install the activator directly. This is done using self-tapping bolts.
  4. From the prepared cable, make a rod that will connect the lever of the product to the rack. Connect the part with the locking mechanism and the fabrication tongue.
  5. When connecting the wires, the cable can be routed using the installation of a roller mechanism, which is located in the window regulator. The remaining wires need to be hidden under the ceiling of the car, pulled under the interior trim.
  6. Next comes the usual connection to the battery and installation of the fuse.

Replacing the cover yourself

To remove the trunk door you will need:

  • knob;
  • set of socket heads;
  • slotted screwdriver;
  • set of open-end wrenches.

Before starting work, you should disconnect the ground terminal (negative) from the battery in order to eliminate the possibility of a short circuit.

The replacement of the VAZ 2114 trunk lid itself is carried out in the following order:

The second option involves completely replacing the mechanical lock with an electrically controlled drive. What does this give?

  1. Secure trunk closure.
  2. Possibility to control the position of the rear door from the driver's seat.

Installing such a system is not the cheapest pleasure, but the final result will really please the user. The electronic drive is much more convenient to use and is a reliable replacement for its mechanical counterpart.

Dismantling the old castle

The replacement sequence is as follows:

  3. Unscrew the wires that are in the way.
  4. Next, you need to unscrew the right fastening nut and remove the inner part of the lock from the fastenings.
  5. You can inspect the integrity of the spring and core. If these parts are defective, then the problem is in the mechanism. In any case, everything will have to be changed.

If you prefer the economical option of replacing it with a new mechanical lock, then install it in the reverse order as described.

Drive installation

Adjusting the position of the trunk lid is possible if, instead of a mechanical lock, you install an electronic device, in this case a drive. To install it you will need:

  • universal drive installation kit for the machine;
  • metal cable with a cross-section of 1.5 mm and 500 mm long;
  • two contact connection wires of 4.5 m each;
  • screws with wide heads;
  • opening button for the lock;
  • retainer;
  • fuse;

We install the drive in the prepared place, according to the instructions. Next, you will have to make several amendments to the design:

8. Pull the wires out of the tailgate.

9. Inside the car, after removing the decorative trim, use a 17 mm

11. Release the trim from under the glass seal and move the upper part of the trim away from the pillar. We remove the trim on the other side of the car in the same way.

12. Remove the rear handrail trim. Use a Phillips screwdriver to unscrew the rear handrail fastening screw.

13. Remove the handrail support plate.

14. Similarly, disconnect the rear fastening of the handrail on the opposite side of the ceiling.

15. Using a puller or a slotted screwdriver, remove the clamps of the three holders of the rear part of the headliner.

16. Take out the holders.

18. We move the edges of the upholstery out from under the glass seal and move the back part of the upholstery away from the ceiling at a distance of 5-7 cm.

Warning! To avoid bending the headliner, do not apply force.

Using a ratchet, unscrew two nuts securing the door hinges to the car body and remove the tailgate.

There was no longer time to “saw” the doors and delay assembly. The weather was not conducive to the “creative” process and adjustment with a file.

After a number of inconsistencies with the details of the grants, I hastily looked for a replacement. I couldn’t find an alternative with a door closer function at a similar price. What remains is the implementation of two door opening positions.

Options considered. 1) First, based on multiple recommendations, I searched for “Limiter from wv passat B3-B4.” There are no used ones in the city (delivery is not suitable due to the wait), new ones are very expensive. 2) Then the Chevrolet Lanos limiters caught my eye; their shape was very reminiscent of decimal ones. Also a decent lever radius and a similar base (at first glance). 3) Restrictors from Chevrolet Niva.

Now, in order. There is no first position and that’s okay. I'll start with Lanos. — 96259088 GM Door opening limiter I relied on external similarity and foolishly bought 4 pieces at once. Not knowing the future outcome of events, I took up the adjustment!

The base is classic, similar to VAZ cars. The lever is covered with plastic, the surface is shagreen. The foot is very similar to the viburnum mount.

Made with high quality, there is a boot, the rollers are not visible and are protected from external factors. They are divided into left and right, in my case it doesn’t matter. Let's compare with the factory one:

The bending radius is even greater than a tenth. There are also differences in the position of the studs; the distance between them is somewhat greater! I can’t say exactly, but about 1.5mm for each pin (same diameter).

Hole diameter 8mm (6mm in VAZ 2110). 2) The mounting ear is large in size and will not fit into the counter part. (18mm Lanos, 14mm VAZ 2110). We bore the last one.

And then install new analogues on two bolts. There are situations when, after installation, the door does not close tightly or warps slightly, causing cracks to form. Solving the problem is also very simple by adjusting the location of the device. In general, initially try to secure it exactly where the old one was.
