Fuse box in the passenger compartment
This is the main area with protective inserts. The block underwent reformatting in 2009, when the car was restyled and facelifted. The fuses installed in this section are connected to electrical circuits responsible for driving comfort, the operation of interior components, lighting, and the braking system.
You can find the unit on the dashboard, to the right of the steering wheel, under the glove box. It takes up space on the top cover of the multifunctional electronic unit and to access it you need to turn a quarter turn of the OIE base lock.
PSU repair
As mentioned earlier, repairing the fuse box in a Ford Mondeo is not that difficult. To carry out all the procedures, you only need to know some of the nuances of the procedure and have basic car repair skills. If you already have the latter, then after reading the material presented below, replacing fuses or other parts will not be a problem for you.
First, it is important to know where the fuse boxes are located in the Ford Mondeo. Regardless of the model generation, they have a standard location and are represented by two different units:
- The first power supply is mounted in the engine compartment. As a rule, it is located near the battery. Finding the unit is easy, just open the hood and find the black box, by opening the lid of which you can gain access to the control panel and relay.
- The second power supply is located on the left in the cabin under the dashboard. To gain access to it, you will have to dismantle part of the dashboard, and then remove the plastic cover from the unit.
Once you have found the required block, you can begin repairs. During all procedures, it is important to adhere to simple recommendations. The main list of these is as follows:
- Before replacing, be sure to de-energize the vehicle's electrical system (turn off the engine, turn off the ignition and disconnect the battery terminals).
- Dismantle all elements of the car very carefully. All parts of the power supply unit and the interior are quite fragile, so it is very easy to damage them with careless movement.
- When replacing any power supply element, do it with exactly the same part. When replacing a fuse or relay, it is important to ensure its correct location, current rating and marking. Otherwise, there is a risk of causing more serious problems with your repairs.
- Never replace PCBs or relays with wires or homemade insulators - this is very dangerous.
- Having completed the repair, reassemble the vehicle in the reverse order and only then operate it.
Block under the hood
Its content in pre-restayle and after it does not differ as much as in the case of the salon area. In general terms, it remains the same as it was released in 2007. The main changes are associated with the advent of new engines, since most of the fuses installed here are responsible specifically for the electrical circuits associated with them.
You can find this mounting block to the left of the battery; its cover is clearly visible. To remove it, you will have to press the latches on the sides. On its inside there should be tweezers-fixer for removing fusible elements.

Recommendations If you are repairing the car yourself and do not go to a service station, it will be easier to print out the fuse location diagrams and store them in the car.
These parts quickly fail, and they will not have to be replaced 1. In this case, the Ford Mondeo 4 fuses are that the parts are not expensive, and replacing them is not difficult.
Fuse box: causes of failure
There are many reasons for the failure of protective inserts, but among them are those that drivers encounter in the vast majority of cases:
- wire burnout;
- breakdown of the electrical device for which one or another fuse is responsible;
- battery failure;
- wear of electrical circuit elements, from wiring to relays;
- improper repair of electrical circuit elements;
- replacing fuses with elements with a higher rating.
Car owners are recommended to inspect electrical circuits, relays and fuses at least a couple of times a year.

Replacing the cigarette lighter fuse
To change it, you need to find out its location and prepare a screwdriver, tweezers and a replacement element. The new insert should be no more powerful than 20 Amps. This fuse is located in the passenger compartment.
The replacement procedure looks like this:
- Find the multifunction electronic unit base cover lock and turn it a quarter to the right.
- Remove the base from the holders and lower it down.
- Remove the cover and disconnect the battery cables.
- Find the required fusible element according to the diagram and check it with a multimeter.
- Take tweezers or a clamp included in the unit kit.
- Use tweezers or a clamp to pry the fuse and pull it.
- Insert the new one in reverse order and close the block.
The power of the new element should not exceed the power of the broken one.
