Such active use of the car leads to the fact that the need to change the oil (and this procedure must be carried out every 60 - 70 thousand kilometers) under service conditions takes a significant toll on your pocket. When do you need to change the oil in a VAZ 2112 gearbox?
The VAZ 2112 model was at one time considered the leader in sales among domestic cars. In terms of its characteristics, this substance is inferior to pure synthetics, but has less fluidity, which has a positive effect on the operation of the unit with high mileage, since the likelihood of the substance leaking through worn oil seals and fogging of the crankcase cover is reduced. Also, this composition is inferior in cost to synthetics and is rarely found as a fake on the market.
- The mineral substance has the most archaic composition without the use of modern materials. Accordingly, its characteristics are significantly inferior to modern materials. In addition, it is least popular on the market, since when used, the replacement interval should be reduced to 40-50 thousand kilometers, regardless of the operating conditions of the vehicle.
Important! In addition to choosing the right substance, you must carefully select an oil filter. There are also a lot of low-quality parts on the market that can eventually lead to breakdown of the unit.

Types of oils
During the procedure, you should know what kind of oil to pour into the box of the VAZ 2110.
They are divided into 3 types:
- Synthetic . Characterized by a high degree of purification. The composition includes various additives that protect parts from corrosion. Replacement is carried out every 65-75 thousand km.
- Semi-synthetic . The percentage of additives is much lower, so the oil is changed more often. It is advisable to carry out this procedure every 45-55 thousand km. The advantage is lower cost.
- Mineral . Refers to unrefined oils. Loss of properties is observed after 20-30 thousand kilometers. After this it must be replaced.
In surveys conducted among motorists about which oil to put in the box of a VAZ 2110, the majority expressed their preference in favor of semi-synthetics. How to fill oil into a VAZ 2112 box
The procedure for completely changing the substance into the unit on this model occurs in several stages:
- Lifting the car and conducting a routine inspection of the crankcase for fogging or mechanical damage.
- Then you need to remove the metal crankcase protection and unscrew the special drain bolt, which is located at the bottom of the crankcase. Draining is carried out into a special container for 40-50 minutes.
- After this, it is necessary to replace the oil filter, which is also located at the bottom of the system.
- Pour new material through the drain hole at the top of the box using a simple funnel. Check the operation of the unit by alternately switching all modes of the gear selector while standing still.
Stages of work
Immediately before changing the oil in the gearbox, it is necessary to warm it up. To do this, it is enough to drive about 10–15 kilometers. In order to replace the lubricant in a VAZ 2115 car, you need to do the following:
- Place the machine on a horizontal surface. It is more convenient to carry out replacement from a hole in the garage or on a lift.
- Remove the protection of the engine trays and/or transmission. The protection does not need to be dismantled if it has a hole that exactly matches the drain plug.
- Wipe the lid and box housing around it with a rag.
- Check for oil leaks along the parting lines and seals.
- Place the container and unscrew the cap.
- Wait about 20 minutes for the oil to drain completely.
- Screw the cover onto the gearbox housing.
- Lubricant can be filled using a syringe for transmission fluids or a funnel with an extension. In the second case, it is necessary to remove the air filter housing; the device is held on by two clamps - the throttle assembly and the crankcase ventilation tube. Since the VAZ 2115 uses an injection engine, when removing the filter it is necessary to disconnect the air flow sensor connector. Some owners remove the absorber tank to make access easier.
- Then you need to remove the dipstick from the hole that will serve as the oil filler neck.
- Pour 2.8-2.9 liters of oil using a funnel or syringe. When changing the lubricant, a smaller volume of liquid is always poured into the crankcase than the rated capacity of the box. This is due to the fact that some old oil remains inside.
- Wait a few minutes and check the amount of fluid on the dipstick. If the level is below o, the oil must be added. Excess lubricant can be pumped out with a medical syringe with a volume of 50 ml or more with a dropper tube attached to the nozzle.
- After this, you need to check that there are no lubricant leaks through the drain plug and box components. If traces of a leak are noticeable, then the cause of its occurrence must be eliminated.
- If the lubricant was replaced while the filter was removed, the parts should be reassembled in the reverse order.
- After 500-700 km, it is necessary to perform a control check of the oil level and the tightness of the unit components.
How to check the oil in a VAZ 2112 box
Checking the level of the substance in the crankcase is carried out using a simple plastic dipstick, on which special marks are applied indicating the optimal level of the substance in the system. This part is located in the upper part of the box body in the engine compartment. To check the current level, you need to remove the dipstick, wipe it with a dry cloth, put it in again and take it out again - the drops of oil on the dipstick will correspond to the current level. This procedure must be carried out on a heated box.
How is replacement carried out - stages

- Using a knife, we cut off the side of the canister or bottle, making a kind of “bath”.
- Before starting work, be sure to warm up the gearbox by driving a VAZ 2115 for about 10 km with a warm engine. In this case, the gears will be able to distribute the lubricant throughout the gearbox.
- We lift the right side of the car with a jack, lay down a block or stand and lower the car. Under no circumstances should you work under a vehicle that is simply supported by a jack.
- In case of a cold floor, we place a plywood sheet under the VAZ 2115.
- Wearing gloves and grabbing a canister and a 17mm wrench, we lay down under the car. If there is a crankcase protection, there may be a cut in it under the oil plug. The plug itself is located at the bottom of the left flange of the gearbox.
- If there is no cut, the engine protection must be removed. To do this, clean the plug with a brush and wipe the adjacent area with a rag, then use a 17 mm wrench to unscrew the plug, placing a canister underneath into which warm liquid will flow.
- After waiting 10-15 minutes for the lubricant to completely come out, we install the plug in place.
- Using a knife, cut off the bottom of a one and a half liter plastic bottle.
- We dismantle the intake pipe and air filter by removing the terminal from the mass air flow sensor. Then we twist the clamps at the crankcase pipe and throttle body to completely remove the intake assembly.
- We take out the oil dipstick in the gearbox, located in the upper part, not far from the passenger compartment.
- The neck of the bottle without a bottom is placed against the hole under the cork, as a result of which the bottle acts as a funnel - no more than three liters of oil should be poured into it, after which we check for lubricant leaks from the cork within ten minutes.
- If liquid does not drip from the plug, if necessary, replace the engine protection and remove the VAZ 2115 from the stand.
- Using the dipstick, we continue to pour oil into the gearbox to the maximum mark - in total, the gearbox should hold 3.2 liters of oil.
- In the reverse order described above, we return the filter and inlet pipe to their place.
At first, it is recommended to fill in no more than 2 liters of oil. Then you should check for leaks in the drain plug under the car. To do this, wait about ten minutes, and then continue to pour the lubricant.
Transmission fluid selection
Practice shows that factory transmission oil is of low quality, so immediately after purchasing a car, a whine is noticed in the operation of the gearbox. To extend the service life of the gearbox and also reduce its noise, it is recommended to replace the gear oil with a higher quality one.
