Automobile: Renault Logan. Year of issue: 2013. Asks: Andrey-83. Essence of the question: the manual does not indicate how much oil is needed to change the gearbox, can you tell me?
Guys, hello everyone. It's finally vacation, and finally I'm welcoming it home! The weather is good, the construction of the garage is almost finished, I need to test the pit, especially since my Logan has a mileage of about 110,000 km. The standard work is clear, changing the engine oil, sorting out the bones in the front suspension after winter.
Here is my “modest” mileage, I want to note that during all this time there were no special problems
I'm thinking of changing the oil in the gearbox. Although there are no special symptoms, reverse gear is engaged with effort, I specifically drove another Logan in the garage to check it, it’s softer there. Even when the box is cold, it howls.
So, I opened the service manual for Logan and couldn’t find a single word about changing the oil in the box. That is, the manufacturer does not regulate the oil change period in any way or believes that it is eternal?
I learned from this article what kind of oil should be poured into the Renault Logan gearbox, but when should I change it and how much oil is needed for replacement?
The following two tabs change content below.

Renault car expert
I own a Renault Megane 2, before that there were Citroens and Peugeots. I work in the service area of a dealership, so I know the car inside and out. You can always contact me for advice.
Renault Logan is a modern car that meets all consumer needs for this price segment. A reliable engine and gearbox can delight you with stable operation for many years. However, even such faithful helpers need care. Of course, this applies to changing the oil in the gearbox and engine.
What is needed to control the oil level in the box?
Transmission oil for Renault Logan is selected taking into account the manufacturer’s recommendations; it is also important not to forget about the need for timely replacement.
An automatic transmission has its own requirements; it is important to remember that they will be different for manual and automatic transmissions. Important! Simply draining the old waste and pouring in a new product is not enough; maintenance is a more complex procedure that involves performing a number of actions.
Before adding oil to Logan's box, you need to understand what the manufacturer offers. The concern recommends using high-quality original ATF fluids - that is, Automatic Transmission Fluid. It is optimal to carry out the procedure every 50 thousand km; under unfavorable operating conditions, the intervals are reduced.
None There is a scheme for complete or partial transmission renewal. After the first shift, it is recommended to drive 200 km and drain again, topping up. During the first drain, about 35% of the waste flows out - it will not be possible to remove it all.
A complete refill of technical fluid is also relatively so - after a one-time procedure, about 75% of the waste is recovered. In most cases, such an update is sufficient to maintain the transmission's functionality. It is more difficult to do a full shift, so if questions arise, it would be better to contact a service station. If you do everything yourself, you need an appropriate set of tools plus an assistant.
Important! Service stations can provide a guarantee for the work. In this case, the driver insures himself against unnecessary risks.
In Renault Logan manual transmission oil must be filled taking into account the manufacturer’s recommendations and requirements for class, viscosity grade, and other characteristics. The best choice is Elf Tranself NFJ 75w-80.
The lubricant recommended by the manufacturer is the best choiceAdvantages of Tranself NFJ 75W80 lubricant:
- excellent fluidity parameters at low air temperatures and, accordingly, simplified gear shifting;
- stable viscosity, no noise during operation;
- protection against automatic shutdown of speeds;
- maintaining the performance of gear teeth, including under significant loads;
- excellent heat resistance.
The oil also protects the box components from corrosion and is not susceptible to moisture. If you buy another lubricant, you need to make sure that it has optimal characteristics. It is better to consult with a store employee once again.
The oil volume in a Renault Logan box is about 3.5 liters. To carry out a complete replacement, it is taken with a reserve.
Example - to wash the pan, it will take about 1-2 liters of liquid. Drivers do the procedure for flushing the box at their own discretion. The exception is when the waste is heavily contaminated and you need to change one product to another.
An experienced driver can roughly calculate how much lubricant he needs to service his car.
You can change the oil in the Renault Logan gearbox yourself. Procedure:
- Warm up the engine, drive the car onto the overpass so as to gain access to the vehicle from below, and arrange lighting for the work area.
- Use the head of the wrench to tighten the bolts on the box in pairs to remove the crankcase protection on the engine. Check the housing for mechanical defects.
- Remove dirt from the casing, paying special attention to the order in which oil is poured into the system.
- Tighten the filler plug (this can be done by hand, without using keys, or with pliers).
- Test the fluid level in the box with a dipstick or other homemade tool.
- Roll up the drain plug, acting as carefully as possible so as not to damage the integrity of the gasket.
- Drain the oil solution into the previously prepared container and examine the condition of the plug. If there are impurities or contamination, the rubber part must be replaced. The presence of large sawdust indicates that the gears are damaged and require major repairs.
- Rinse the plug and install a funnel or tube into the fill hole. When using a funnel, the hose must be lowered into the tank from the engine compartment side. The volume may vary depending on the type of replacement - it can be partial or complete.
The appearance of a leak from the box filler opening indicates that the oil level in the system is sufficient. The plug will need to be tightened and liquid leaks removed. Otherwise, spilled lubricant will contaminate the surface, and this should not be allowed.
It’s possible to service the automatic transmission on your own; it’s easier to do a partial maintenance update.
It is necessary to check the oil in the Logan gearbox - contaminated lubricant will not properly remove heat and lubricate the parts. This is fraught with various types of malfunctions in the automatic transmission. Important!
The dirty lubricant in the box is an abrasive mixture that, under high pressure, has a sandblasting effect. This effect on the valve body can lead to thinning of the walls in the area where the control valves are located. The result is leaks.
It is most convenient to use a dipstick to check. To test the volume of liquid in the system, use a dipstick; you can estimate the level simply with your index finger. There are a couple of marks on the dipstick - maximum and minimum values. To check the condition of the lubricant, drop it onto a cloth or paper. After mineral water, you can fill in synthetic or semi-synthetic, it is important not to downgrade the class.
The oil in the Logan manual transmission also needs to be changed from time to time, despite the fact that the manufacturer fills in the lubricant for the entire time the car is used. This period is limited to a certain mileage, which in real conditions is higher. Be sure to regularly check the lubricant level in the system and the degree of tightness of the stuffing box mechanism.
For Renault Logan, the optimal choice is Tranself NFJ 75w-80 lubricant. The product is of high quality and outperforms competitors in a number of indicators. At the factory, the manufacturer fills in this particular liquid.
The advantages of the lubricant are excellent fluidity at sub-zero air temperatures, easy gear shifting, good viscosity, and no noise when switching. Independent activation of gearbox speeds is excluded.
Important! EP additives, which are included in the product, protect the teeth of the gearbox gears from scuffing.
Elf gearbox lubricant is not afraid of water and is not prone to oxidation.
The oil volume in the Renault Logan gearbox is standard - it is 1.6-2 liters. To understand exactly how much oil should be in the Renault Logan box when changing, you need to drain the old lubricant - a similar volume will then be poured into the system. Overfilling should be avoided.
Black mining with modified properties cannot solve current problems.
Draining the oil from the Logan box and refilling with new oil is not difficult, the main thing is to follow the rules. An assistant is also not necessary - unlike a complete replacement for an automatic transmission, a partial fluid update in a manual transmission is much easier to do. Procedure:
- Warm up the engine and place the car on the work site.
- Using a wrench, tighten a couple of bolts - they hold the engine protection to the crankcase.
- Check the gearbox housing for mechanical damage, if any, carry out repairs.
- Remove dirt from the casing, paying special attention to the oil fill hole in the system.
- You can twist the cork by hand without using a special tool (if it doesn’t work, use pliers).
- Check the fluid level in the system using a dipstick or a small stick. If the meter goes deep into the liquid, the latter is sufficient.
- Tighten the drain plug, be careful not to damage the gasket. If the rubber element is touched and damaged, install a new one.
- Drain the waste into containers prepared in advance. Be sure to analyze the condition of the plug - if there are metal inclusions, the unit is worn out and unsuitable for further use. If the sawdust is large and there is a lot of it, we can talk about gear wear. It would be better to play it safe and conduct a full diagnostic to detect possible faults and take action.
Install a funnel or tube into the fill hole. If a funnel is used, the hose is lowered from the engine compartment side. When everything is ready, you can pour liquid into the system - about 3 liters will be enough. This volume may vary slightly depending on the type of work being carried out.
Important! To speed up the filling process, the oil mixture must first be kept in a warm room. The fluidity of the transmission will increase, the speed of work will increase.
If the manual transmission is properly maintained, its service life will increase. When there is a leak from the hole, we can say that the oil level is sufficient. The plug should be tightened, then the drips should be removed from the gearbox. If you skip certain steps, the results of the work will decrease. Additionally, working parts of the system can be replaced. So, during scheduled maintenance, new filters and other elements are installed.

Contaminated oil does not remove heat properly and cannot fully lubricate parts. This causes various problems with the manual transmission and the car as a whole. A very dirty lubricant is an abrasive suspension that has a negative effect on all parts and components of systems.
From time to time the driver must check both the quantity and quality of the fluid in the system. It is most convenient to do this with a probe, but other objects will also work, you can use your finger. There are a couple of level marks on the dipstick - minimum and maximum. The test should be carried out in a cold and warm state, so its results will be as accurate as possible.
Important! The condition of the fluid can be determined by dropping a dipstick in oil onto a cloth or sheet of paper. Any significant changes indicate that the transmission is not working properly.
Regular checks of the lubricant level in the system will prevent more serious problems in the future. In order for the lubricant to work as long as possible without losing its original properties, the manufacturer’s recommendations must be taken into account when choosing. You should only fill in a substance that corresponds to the level and parameters; when changing one product to another, rinse the pan.

First you need to figure out how often the oil in a manual transmission is changed on a Renault Sandero Stepway. The manufacturer claims that the lubricant poured into the gearbox is designed for the entire service life of the vehicle. But experienced owners recommend changing the fluid as needed. Some argue that replacement is required every 80 thousand kilometers or every five years.
- Preparatory stage.
Before performing the procedure for changing transmission lubricant, you need to drive the car a little. This is necessary so that the liquid in the box warms up. Then the car must be driven onto an overpass, inspection hole, or simply raised on a lift. This will help you easily get to the right place. To replace the lubricant material, you will need an 8-square wrench, a funnel with a hose, and transmission oil. First you need to free the underbody of the car from the crankcase protection. It is secured with 6 bolts. You can unscrew them with a 10 mm wrench. To drain the used lubricant, you need to unscrew the drain plug - Draining used lubricant. In order to drain the waste liquid, it is necessary to completely unscrew the plastic drain plug. It is located on the gearbox on the right. This procedure can be performed with a square key 8. Renault Logan owners note that such a key is rarely found on sale, so you can make it yourself. To do this, you need to take the most common square key of 10 or 9 and grind it, for example, with a grinder to the required size of 8. In addition, you can use old handles from wooden windows. After unscrewing the plug, you need to drain the used lubricating fluid into a previously prepared container. At the end of the procedure, you can tighten the drain cap.
- Filling with new lubricant. To fill in new lubricant, you will need a funnel with a hose. First you need to unscrew the plastic filler plug. You need to insert a hose into it, and the funnel is placed in the space under the hood. Fill the gearbox with new lubricant. Then screw on the neck cap.
Oil change intervals
First, let's look at how often the lubricant in Logan transmissions needs to be changed. In the official regulations, the Renault Logan manufacturer does not indicate the frequency of replacement of lubricating fluid in cars of 2006, 2014 and other years of production. The lubricant is poured into the transmission for the entire service life of the vehicle.
When is a lubricant change still required:
- if the liquid has lost its properties and cannot properly lubricate parts;
- when vibrations occur in the operation of the transmission;
- when knocking out the gear shift lever;
- if there is a burning smell coming from the box.
Unlike an automatic transmission, in which ATF plays the role of a working fluid, in a manual transmission the oil serves to remove heat and reduce wear on rubbing pairs. But even in this mode of operation, irreversible chemical and physical processes occur; the oil is filled with a suspension of wear products from rubbing metal surfaces.
We recommend making the first replacement at 60 thousand km. During the first tens of thousands of kilometers of a vehicle's run, parts are worn in inside the gearbox. After the break-in period, the amount of wear products in the oil decreases, so the interval between subsequent replacements can be increased to 80-100 thousand km.

Signs of wear
It is necessary to rely only partially on mileage values, since fluid wear depends on individual driving habits and the condition of the transmission. We recommend studying the main symptoms that will tell you when to fill in new gear oil:
- the appearance of loud extraneous noise, especially when operating in neutral gear;
- Difficulty in shifting gears;
- “sluggish” operation of the switching mechanisms, which is especially noticeable in automatic transmissions;
- the appearance of vibrations or beating in the shift handle;
- the appearance of a burning smell.
All this may indicate a breakdown of any part of the assembly. However, first of all, start by changing the oil, and only then carry out detailed diagnostics.
Changing the gearbox oil on Renault Logan (Renault Logan)
- The first part should be labeled 75w, 80w or 85w. They designate, respectively, the minimum operating temperature of -40, -26 and -12 degrees Celsius. Therefore, it is recommended to fill in oil marked 75w - it is suitable for most regions.
- The second part should be marked 80, 85 or 90. It is worth remembering that in all three cases the maximum operating temperature is considered to be 35 degrees Celsius. But the viscosity of these oils differs. Liquids marked 90 are considered the best in this regard.
All oils (both transmission and motor) are divided into three main types: synthetic, semi-synthetic and mineral. Synthetic lubricants are considered to be of the highest quality - they are recommended for use in Renault Sandero Stepway. It is recommended to use Elf Tranself NFJ 75w-80 API GL-4 fluid.
Test drive of the new Renault Duster: Mature The quality of the oil used is worth talking about separately. When filling, only all-season oils are used. Moreover, the liquid should be selected based on its viscosity level. Moreover, the viscosity is determined by the markings on the container with the lubricating fluid. The marking looks something like this:
- By analogy with the previous case, we install the car on a pit or hang it on a lift.
- Remove the plastic protective panel of the pallet.
- We unscrew the plug on the drain hole and empty the crankcase of the fluid.
- We screw this plug back, do not forget to first clean the magnet from accumulated chips.
- We unscrew the plastic filler plug and feed new lubricant into the unit through the hole.
- When the pan is filled to the required level, the liquid will spontaneously flow out in the opposite direction.
- Screw the plug into place.
It is in this way that the lubricant is replaced and its level is monitored in the mechanics.
This completes the replacement procedure.
Recommended oil for Renault Logan gearbox
From the factory, oil is poured into the gearbox, which is subsequently recommended for further use. For example, if there is a need to add a substance to the unit.
This mechanical oil has the following properties:
- increased fluidity at low negative temperatures, which allows for simplified gear shifting in winter;
- stable viscosity parameters, eliminating the possibility of noise when changing gearshift lever modes;
- The product contains a formula that allows you to avoid arbitrary shutdown of gears;
- the oil manufacturer guarantees consumers reliable protection of the mechanical components of the unit from rapid wear;
- excellent thermal stability of the product to temperature changes;
- the presence of a complex of additives in the fluid that allows for extreme pressure protection of gear teeth when the unit operates under high load conditions;
- stability of the lubricant product to oxidation;
- protection of internal parts of the gearbox from corrosion.

In automatic transmissions, the car manufacturer recommends using Elf Renaultmatic D3 SYN fluid.
The GARAGE NN channel in its video suggests familiarizing yourself with the procedure for changing the lubricant.
Before pouring new oil into the Renault Logan box, you need to drive a little, thereby warming up the lubricating fluid and mixing it (with dirt and impurities). This is done for subsequent easy draining of the oil and maximum cleaning of the box cavity. The most practical place to change the oil in the gearbox will be a car repair and inspection pit.
Advantages and features of ELF Tranself NFJ 75W80 oil:
- The formula used in the creation process eliminates the problem of speed jumping;
- Has heat resistance at the highest level;
- Even in the most severe frosts, it retains a liquid structure for easy gear shifting;
- EP additives for gearbox parts retain resistance to loads;
- Protection against corrosion and oxidation;
- Good viscosity stability and resistance to water.
For a safe replacement procedure, it is worth considering these examples of precautions:
- Protective gloves and a gas extraction device must be used;
- It is also necessary to use safety glasses;
- Use only serviceable tools;
- Use a hat if possible.
The list of tools used to change the oil is small:
- 8 mm square wrench.
- Pliers.
- Portable lighting.
- Wire brush.
- 10 mm socket wrench.
- Funnel with hose (0.5 m) or blower.
- Container for draining used oil.
- We drive the car into the pit, before descending under the car, we dress as mentioned above, extend portable lighting and check that we have all the necessary tools.
- Standing under the car, unscrew the 6 crankcase protection screws (10 mm end cap).
- Also, using a portable lamp, inspect the gearbox housing for defects, nicks and obvious malfunctions; in this case, it will need to be repaired.
- After viewing, you need to clean the box body, especially in the oil drain and fill areas.
- Unscrew the plastic filler plug on the box by hand. It usually turns away well, if not, use pliers.
- Take a small stick to check the oil level in the box. Now insert a clean “dipstick” (sliver, stick) horizontally into the hole to be filled. If the stick is immersed in oil, you can understand that the level is normal.
- Place a container under the hole to drain the waste, then unscrew the drain cover from the bottom of the box.
- The presence of small metal shavings (natural running-in) is allowed on the drain cover; if you find more specific parts of metal, this indicates damage to the gears (disassembling and replacing them in the gearbox).
- Clean (preferably rinse in gasoline), replace the gasket on the drain cap and screw it back on.
- Fill the mixture (3.3 l) through the hose inserted into the filler hole. For convenience, select a suitable funnel for the hose.
- Preferably, for a more comfortable and faster filling of oil, keep it in a warm place (for better fluidity).
- When the correct amount of oil is filled, you will see a leak from the hole in which the hose is inserted, then tighten the plug.
- Wipe off any oil spills and clean the entire gearbox along with the crankcase protection, screw it into place.
If you need to add oil to the Renault Logan gearbox, save the container left after pouring the liquid (you can buy 1 liter for this case). You can also simply rewrite the name so you don’t forget. And the waste can also be used to heat a garage or a box under a car (if you have such a stove).
When to change the oil in the box?
On the assembly line, the manufacturer fills the manual transmission with Elf Tranself NFJ 75W-80, which Renault recommends for transmissions of the JXX, TL4 and NDX series.
Renault Logan, Sandero, Logan 2, Lada Largus with 1.4 liter engines were equipped with a jH1 manual transmission, while cars with 1.6 and 1.6 liter engines were installed.
2 L were aggregated jH3. Structurally, the units differ in the size of the clutch housing, so this does not affect the choice of gear oil. Less common on cars is the JR5 manual transmission.
For topping up, use only Elf Tranself NFJ 75W-80, since mixing oils is not prohibited. For a complete replacement, it is not necessary to buy original products. You can choose among worthy analogues:
- Liqui Moly Getriebeoil 75W-80 (GL-5);
- Castrol Syntrans Transaxle 75W-90 (GL-4);
- Motul Motylgear SAE 75W-80 (GL-5);
- Castrol Syntrans V FE 75W-80 (GL-4);
- Shell Getriebeoil EP 75w90 (GL-4);
- Valvoline Maxlife MTF SAE 75W-80 (GL-4).
The filling volume of gearboxes jH1 and jH3 is 2.8 l, JR5 is 2.5 l. Before purchasing, we recommend that you check this information in the repair and operating manual for your car model.
Checking the transmission fluid level in the Renault Logan gearbox is a troublesome but simple procedure, which is usually carried out in an inspection pit or on an overpass. It is important to ensure that the car is positioned strictly horizontally, without distortions, otherwise the lubricant will be underfilled.
- container for collecting oil;
- flashlight;
- steel rod (probe);
- 8 and 10 mm wrenches.
The Renault Logan manual transmission does not have a dipstick for checking the transmission oil level. Control is carried out through a hole with a white plastic screw in the front of the box. The lid can be easily unscrewed by hand, but before doing this, place a container in case liquid leaks out.
Then insert a metal rod at a right angle into the filler hole, pull it out and inspect its surface. If the dipstick is clean, there is not enough lubricant. Add liquid using a syringe or funnel, then screw the cap back in.
Renault Logan, Sandero, Logan 2, Lada Largus with 1.4 liter engines were equipped with a jH1 manual transmission, while cars with 1.6 and 1.2 liter engines were equipped with a jH3. Structurally, the units differ in the size of the clutch housing, so this does not affect the choice of gear oil. Less common on cars is the JR5 manual transmission.
If it is necessary to change or add oil in the Renault Logan gearbox, the car owner needs to know how many liters are included in the transmission. The fluid volume in a manual transmission is about 3.5 liters. The amount of lubricant in automatic transmissions is 4 liters.
To check the oil level, do the following:
- Warm up the car and place it on a flat horizontal surface.
- There is no dipstick for checking the volume in Renault Logan. Diagnostics is carried out through the inspection hole, which is located in the front part of the transmission housing. There is a plastic cover in the hole; it must be wiped with a rag and unscrewed.
- You need to look into the hole. If you cannot see the oil level, you should determine it by touch by placing your finger in the hole. The amount of lubricant should be around the bottom edge.
You can learn about checking the volume from the video published by user Roni.
The following will be an algorithm for a partial oil change.
- We install the Renault Logan car on a pit or use a lift.
- We warm up the engine to the operating temperature and then turn it off.
- We unscrew the drain plug on the automatic transmission crankcase and drain the fluid contained in it into a suitable container.
- Next, we proceed to unscrew the plastic measuring flask located under the stopper and drain the remaining hydraulic fluid. Approximately 4.5 liters will drain.
- Then we fill the automatic transmission crankcase with new lubricant. To do this, we use a special pump, which is equipped with a specific adapter. We screw the plastic flask into the pan and use the indicated pump to pump the fluid under pressure into the hole in the crankcase.
- The full level will be indicated by liquid flowing out of the plastic flask while the motor is running.
- We start the engine and check the functioning of the transmission in different operating modes. This is necessary to fill all machine components with liquid.
- We check the lubricant level again and tighten the automatic transmission drain plug.
It is impossible to overfill the liquid, since its excess will certainly flow out.
At this point, the oil change in the gearbox is considered complete.
Criterias of choice
When choosing transmission fluid, pay attention to the specification and viscosity. The API classification is a generally accepted classification that, through testing, determines the effectiveness of extreme pressure and anti-corrosion additives. Elf Tranself NFJ 75W-80 corresponds to the GL-4+ class, which is recommended for use in synchronized manual transmissions of passenger cars. However, it is permissible to use GL-4 and the highest class - GL-5, which is designed for loaded hypoid gears.
The SAE marking shows low-temperature (number with index W) and high-temperature characteristics. 75W formulations are recommended for regions where the temperature does not drop below -40°C. If the car is operated at temperatures not lower than -26°C, oils with an index of 80W are poured into the manual transmission. As for high-temperature characteristics, in regions with a temperate climate, a viscosity grade of 85-90 can be used.
For Renault Logan, Sandero, Logan 2, Sandero 2, Lada Largus, you can safely use oils with SAE indexes: 75W-80, 75W-90, 75W-85 and an API specification of at least GL-4.
How to change the oil in a Logan automatic transmission
If the oil has reached the end of its service life, it will not be able to perform its intended functions. This means that the substance is not able to properly lubricate the rubbing components of the unit. This leads to rapid wear of parts.

The first to fail are the bearings, the failure of which can be indicated by symptoms such as noise and hum in the operation of the gearbox. Sometimes sounds appear when you turn on a certain gear. It is also possible for the speeds to switch off spontaneously. If you do not take immediate action to change the oil, the entire gearbox will fail.

According to the owners' experience
In reality, Renault Logan owners act differently:
- When the clutch basket was replaced, the oil was drained from the box. There was a good argument to replace the fluid completely, at the same time replacing the clutch cable, this is a disease.
- The first replacement was made after 190 thousand kilometers;
- When buying a car, the owner decided that the service interval would be 60 thousand km.
190 and 60 – these numbers differ by an order of magnitude. And both are puzzling. Regarding the first point, we note that the owner prepared for the replacement in advance: the box was warmed up, the plug was purchased immediately. We advise you to do the same.
Replacement process
First of all, we recommend buying a “plug with washer” kit (7703 075 180 VAZ, 7703075180 Renault). The plug closes the drain hole (see fig.
). The required volume for changing is 3.1 liters of oil.
A new plug is screwed in here. To wash away all deposits, the replacement is made on a heated box. And it is better to replace it in the warm season.
The process of changing the oil in a manual transmission in a Renault Sandero Stepway is not very difficult, provided that there are no additional problems. And here it is worth considering one important point: if there are lubricant leaks, the origin of which is unknown, a knock is heard in the box, and after maintenance there are problems with gear shifting, you need to contact a specialist. It is not recommended to carry out repairs yourself if you do not have the necessary skills.
First, it is recommended to check the condition of the lubricant in the gearbox. It is necessary to clarify whether new gear oil is required for the Renault Sandero Stepway. The liquid should be level with the lower edge of the filler hole (closed with a plastic screw plug). Be sure to check the condition of the liquid: whether it has stratified (there are denser, viscous fractions in the lower part of the box), how clogged it is, etc.
Spark plugs for Renault Logan - we'll tell you step by step It's worth mentioning the tools for changing the oil in a manual transmission in Renault Sandero Stepway. And the list here is very small. You need an 8-square wrench to open the drain hole, a screwdriver to remove the crankcase protection, a 4-5 liter container to remove used oil, and a canister of new lubricant (3-3.5 liters is enough).
Regarding safety precautions, everything is simple and clear:
- The machine must be secured on a level surface. Stoppers are installed under the wheels, the car itself is put into speed and the handbrake is put on. It must be fixed carefully to avoid injuries and other troubles.
- Before work, it is recommended to warm the oil to a warm state to reduce viscosity (especially important in the cold season). But you should not work with a hot manual transmission, to avoid burns due to hot lubricant getting on the skin or accidentally touching the gearbox housing.
- It must be remembered that the oil should not enter the body.
And the process of preparing for draining the liquid is as follows:
- The machine is installed on an overpass or above an inspection hole. It must be fixed according to the principle described above (in the safety regulations).
- Using a screwdriver, remove the screws holding the crankcase guard in place. Then it is removed to the side until the replacement process is completed.
- Place a pre-prepared container under the drain hole.
- Wipe off dust and dirt from the gearbox (in particular, from the filler and drain plugs). During the process, you need to make sure that there are no leaks or damage to the manual transmission.
After completing the described procedures, you can proceed to the actual replacement process.

- Before starting work, travel at least 10-15 km so that the oil inside the gearbox warms up and becomes less viscous.
- If the sealing gasket of the filler plug is not torn and is elastic, it can be reinstalled.
- Pay attention to the processing status. The presence of an emulsion indicates mixing of oil and water. Often such a nuisance is a consequence of a leak in the boot of the inner CV joint of the left drive shaft. Therefore, inspect the boot for tears or loose clamps. Pay attention to the transmission breather, through which, if installed incorrectly, water and dirt enter the manual transmission. Often, after unqualified repairs, craftsmen neglect the correct installation of the breather. 4.For preventive purposes, rinse and blow out the breather with compressed air. As the pressure inside the transmission increases, a completely clogged "breather" valve can push out. If the malfunction is not noticed in time, dust, dirt and moisture will render the new gear oil unusable.
5. We recommend lubricating the engine protection mounting bolts with graphite grease.
