Initially, the model was equipped with a one and a half liter 77-horsepower engine from the Lada-2111. Since 2004, they began to install V1.6 engines (82 hp, Euro-3 standard) with a catalyst placed under the hood (and not under the bottom, as before). A year later, a new unit appeared (16 valves, 1.6 liters, 89 horses). The search ended in 2010, when a 98-horsepower 16-valve engine from Priora was installed on the car. It is this version that is most loved by car owners.
Engine
Those for whom engine power is more important should know that the 2114 was initially equipped with a rather weak unit with 80 horsepower. Only as a result of the latest update, the car received (in some modifications) an engine similar to that installed on the Priora - a 16-valve engine with 106 hp. With.
At the same time, Samara accelerates to a hundred in 13 seconds, while its rival needs only 11.5. Speed limits vary among cars:

Priora and 2114 are equipped with five-speed manual transmissions. But it’s much better and more reliable in Samara. Its gearbox shifts easily and clearly. The new model has a slightly loose lever.
Lada Priora
The first Priora went on sale in 2007. The new sedan replaced the popular “ten”. On the basis of this model, a year later AvtoVAZ mastered the production of hatchbacks (the Lada-2112 served as the basis), and two years later - “station wagons” (the modernized Lada-2111). A limited edition coupe (three-door hatchback) and Premier (long sedan) were also produced. In addition, the “Sport” version was developed specifically for competitions.
Priora inherited some details (for example, the engine and platform) from its predecessor. In the exterior, this is especially noticeable in the profile and shape of the doors (which, however, have become a little wider). However, about 2,000 completely original parts were used in the design. This applies, for example, to front and rear optics, bumpers, hood, fenders, and trunk lid.
The entire production period (2007-2018) designers worked on improving the car. Restyling was carried out in 2011, 2013, 2014, 2022 and 2022. During the modernization, the appearance and driving characteristics were changed, the range of engines and gearboxes was expanded, new options were introduced, and sound insulation was improved.
The appearance of Priora turned out to be more attractive than that of its predecessors from the “tenth” family. The designers took into account most of the complaints from car owners. The car received a rounded shape, the optics changed, and the exterior became more proportional. The quality of assembling components and fitting of individual elements has increased. Galvanized iron is used to make body parts.
Specialists from Italy participated in the interior design. A computer is built into the front panel, trimmed with soft plastic. An armrest is installed between the seats. The upholstery is made of high quality material. The side windows, mirrors and trunk are equipped with electric drive. However, there are also disadvantages. The space in the cabin remains the same as in the “ten”. This may be why there wasn't enough room to adjust the seats and steering column sufficiently.
The Priora engine range includes two 1.6-liter units: with eight and 16 valves with a capacity of 87 and 106 horsepower, respectively. They are paired with a five-speed manual transmission (a version with a robotic gearbox was produced in 2014-2015).
The buyer of the “Standard” package receives a car with an 87-horsepower engine, an airbag on the driver’s side, reinforced brakes with BAS, ABS and EBD systems, a course computer, electric power steering, front ESP, audio preparation, etc.
In addition to this, the “Norma” package includes an alarm system, an immobilizer, central locking, power steering, heated mirrors, R14 wheels with hubcaps and other pleasant little things. The “Lux” version adds an airbag on the passenger side, front fog lights, ESP on all doors, air conditioning, parking sensors, alloy wheels, engine heating before starting, radio, GLONASS/GPS navigation. How does the suspension behave?
Some car owners frighten with stories about how the Priora literally falls apart while driving - but this is not so. Probably for the first models these statements would be correct, but at the moment the suspension is not much different in quality from budget foreign cars. The front has MacPherson strut suspension and the rear has a crossbar.
Problems often arise with bushings and stabilizer struts. They are replaced every 10,0000 - 20,000 kilometers. Steering tips and hub bearings last 40,000 - 50,000 kilometers. Shock absorbers will have to be changed after 100 thousand kilometers. The brake pads are of poor quality, so replace them with normal ones.
