One of the most effective ways to protect your car from attacks by intruders is to install a security system. Alarm systems from different manufacturers differ in functionality and the range of installed electronic systems. One such system is StarLine. For proper use, it is important to know all the nuances of operating the system and, of course, how to turn off the alarm on the car.
Unlocking the Starline alarm system in the car
Even the most careful device owners are not protected from loss or damage to key fobs. It will not be possible to start the engine without complete blocking, although several options remain for entering the car.
Unlocking StarLine alarm
The starter of vehicles is often blocked due to the security system and its operation. The system will have to be turned off manually for everything to work fully again. The security system can block the engine under the following circumstances:
- Powerful radio interference.
- Shock sensor with incorrect settings.
- The anti-theft system remote control is out of order.
- Dead battery or lost key fob. Because of this, we also have to turn off the Starline alarm.
For emergency unlocking, you can use a complex shutdown or enter a special code.
As for the unlocking itself, it involves performing actions in this order:
- Using personal keys to open the car. You need to look in advance where the Valet button is.
- The engine state is inoperative, only the ignition itself is activated.
- The Valet key is pressed three times until 20 seconds have passed. Some models allow the function to be launched four times.
- Turn off the ignition. The user was able to disarm the modern system.
Typically, the anti-lock code consists of two numbers. They are entered not from key fobs, but from the Valet button, pressed repeatedly. Meeting time constraints is a common challenge that everyone faces.
The main thing is to remember that secret codes cannot include the numbers 0. Otherwise, you won’t be able to disable Starline.
Developers of StarLine systems choose the numbers 11 as standard. But the combination may change when new options are launched. It is better to study the features of the security system in advance.
Unlocking the Starline key fob
Protection against unintended actions is the main reason for manufacturers to develop locking modes. Usually, to do this, simultaneously press 1 and 4 buttons, or 2 and 4. The latter becomes the basis for disabling the Starline alarm.
First, the signal will sound in audio form, then appear in text form. Pressing buttons 1 and 4 at the same time most often leads to unlocking.
Setting the sensitivity of the Starline A93 shock sensor from the key fob
The security system has two zones where these elements are located. Correctly setting the shock sensors will prevent accidental alarm activation. To adjust the sensitivity level of Starline A93 you need.
- Remove the car from security mode.
- Long press the third key, and then perform another short click.
- After this, the shock sensor setting of the first zone will be activated. You can adjust the level using the second (more) or third (less) key on the Starline remote control.
- Having set the desired level, briefly click on key 3. Now the sensitivity settings for the shock sensor of the second area are available. The adjustment is carried out in the same way.
The Starline alarm also has the function of setting a tilt sensor. Its sensitivity can be set as follows:
We turn off the security mode, and then press the fourth button for a long time. Next, briefly hold this key again. After switching to the adjustment mode, set the sensitivity using buttons two (more) and three (less).
Deactivating sound on Starline alarm systems
The following instructions remain relevant for any model, including Starline A93:
- They look for a key with an asterisk, then press it and hold it for a while. Usually this is the 3rd button on the left. After the appearance of sounds in the form of special signals, everything is released.
- A screen will appear asking the user to select one of the available options. The 2nd button on the left indicates a locked lock. “Crossed out speaker” is the silent mode that is needed now.
- Click on the star button. The input algorithm remains standard.
- If the remote control does not work correctly, or the key fob is lost, you must use the secret Valet button. Its location is chosen by the user after consulting with a specialist.
- You can completely disconnect one of the terminals from the battery to disable the function.

Mandatory safety precautions when using the remote engine start feature
It must be remembered that a car is a source of increased danger. Section 12.8. The traffic rules state: “The driver may leave his seat or leave the vehicle if he has taken the necessary measures to prevent the vehicle from moving unintentionally or from being used in the absence of the driver.”
Before operating the complex, carefully read the safety precautions for using the remote or automatic engine start function set out below:
- Always park your vehicle in an open, well-ventilated area;
- Always put the car on the parking brake, which must be in good condition and prevent the car from moving;
- When leaving the vehicle, be sure to place the automatic transmission control lever in the “PARK” position and the manual transmission shift lever in the neutral position;
- If your car has a manual transmission, then before turning on the remote or automatic engine start function, be sure to follow the “Program Neutral” preparation procedure for starting the engine;
- Never give the StarLine A93/A63 Dialog control key fobs to children or other persons without first reading the operating instructions;
- Before enabling the remote or automatic engine start feature:
- make sure the car is in good condition,
- make sure there is sufficient fuel, oil, coolant, etc.,
- set the necessary operating parameters for the interior heater (air conditioner), glass heating and other accessories,
- Set the interior airflow control to the “Air circulation” position, which will allow you to more effectively heat or cool the air in the car.
Mandatory safety precautions when charging your car battery
Remember that any battery charging process involves supplying the battery and, accordingly, the vehicle’s on-board network with a voltage greater than the nominal 12 V, which can damage the vehicle’s electronic equipment and equipment additionally installed on your vehicle.
Do not use chargers and starting chargers to charge the battery directly on the car without disconnecting the battery terminals from the on-board network in the following modes:
- fast charging with increased current (boost or similar modes);
- various START modes designed to start the engine;
- in 24 V battery charging mode.
Do not use starting chargers to start the engine without a connected battery or with connected faulty batteries (short circuits in banks, destruction of plates, etc.)
Do not use faulty chargers, 24 V chargers or devices not designed for charging batteries, such as welding inverters.
All of the above devices and modes can cause an uncontrolled supply of increased voltage of more than 25 V and up to 60 V to the vehicle’s on-board network and lead to failure of the electronic components of the car alarm and vehicle equipment.
It is not recommended to use the “lighting” method to charge the battery. Even the “safe” methods of lighting described are safe only for the “donor” car.
Connecting and disconnecting a completely discharged or faulty battery in your car while the engine is running can damage your car's electronic devices and car alarm due to a short circuit or high voltage surges that occur when connecting/disconnecting the battery.
In the case of using the above devices and modes, responsibility for damage to electronic equipment lies with the vehicle owner.
Follow safe battery charging technology
Before charging, the battery terminals must be disconnected from the vehicle's on-board power supply. After this, you can begin the battery charging process. After charging, connect the battery to the vehicle's on-board network.
This need is explained by the fact that without measuring instruments you cannot determine the serviceability, condition of the battery and the reason for its discharge (the presence of internal short circuits or breaks). Any connection of a charger to a faulty battery poses a risk of damage to the vehicle's electronic equipment and car alarm system due to the increased voltage.
Emergency disarming of the security mode without a key fob
One of the main methods is applicable here - emergency or coded disarming. But you must know the location of the Valet key in any case; without this, using emergency mode is unacceptable. And you won’t be able to just walk up to the car, even if it’s a modern Starline A93 model.
The location of this Valet element is described in the instructions, or information can be obtained from the technicians who installed the system. In most cases, a place is chosen under the front instrument panels, or close to the safety block. The search may be based on the location selected for the LED indicator.
Setting up autorun
The Starline A93 alarm system has the option of customizable automatic engine start:
- enter the programming menu by long pressing button 3, a signal should sound, and then click on the button again;
- Use buttons 2 or 3 to select the required function;
- key 1 helps you select the desired value; you can set the duration of the starter operation, engine warm-up and its time;
- We return to the menu by pressing the third button for a long time, and then again briefly.
Coded shutdown
It is assumed that PIN codes must contain from 2 to 4 digits. The procedure has the following approximate description:
- Using the ignition key to turn on.
- The number of Valet presses corresponding to the first digit in the code.
- Turn off the ignition.
- Next, repeat the previous paragraphs for all numbers included in the code. The car alarm shouldn't break.
The system will be unlocked. The exact sequence can be obtained from the manufacturer's instructions. They will tell you how to turn off the alarm on your car.
Why is the Valet service button needed and where is it located?
Using the key allows you to:
- enable and disable various functions and work with them;
- block the operation of the power unit on the car (so that the engine cannot start);
- assign a personal password for emergency management.
The location of the Valet service button in a car with a Starline alarm system should be hidden, this is due to the ability to control the system. Usually the device is located under the dashboard of the car and is disguised in one of the bundles with standard wiring.
If you did not install the alarm yourself, then you need to find this button by checking all the wires coming from the microprocessor module. One of the cables goes to the key anyway.

The “Samodelkin Life” channel in its video described in detail how a user can find the location of the Valet service button in a car.
How to turn off alarm systems of different models without a key fob: step-by-step instructions
Let's start by looking at the order for series A1, 9, 8, 4:
- The machine door opens with a key. This is not an emergency method.
- There is no need to start the engine, just activate the ignition.
- Next comes the use of the Valet button. In the case of models 1 and 2, 4, you need to press three times. In others it is necessary 4 times, for at least 20 seconds.
- Ignition off. If everything is correct, the systems are deactivated. The symbols should not appear.
In the case of other varieties, disabling is permissible only if there are secret codes. For A6 they do it like this:
- The key is used to unlock the door mechanisms and insert it into the ignition. Starline A91 has a slightly different order.
- Valet squeezes for 20 seconds, according to the instructions from the manufacturers.
- The ignition turns off and turns on again. This means that the reset was successful.
- Valet, pressed a certain number of times depending on the code and its content. The same applies to Starline A61.
- Next comes the reactivation of the ignition. The system is deactivated. Sometimes it happens that the key fob is not disarmed. Then additional diagnostics are carried out.
Similar rules apply to owners of models A61, 91. But here you need to look closely at the turn signals. They must blink a certain number of times. Then the owner will receive confirmation that the actions were performed correctly. It's not that difficult to disarm a car without a key fob.

Disabling silent security mode
It is assumed that button 1 on the control device is pressed for a certain time. Pressing the second one will be shorter. The main thing is to perform the last action after the sound signal appears. The doors are unlocked after the turn signals blink twice. The lock icon on the remote display should disappear and the alarm should work normally.
Why did he disappear?
In some cases, it automatically switches to silent mode. This can happen for several reasons. Most often, the siren turns off due to a sharp decrease in the car battery voltage. To prevent complete discharge, the system automatically switches to silent mode.
If the sound disappears, the reason may be poor contacts or wear of individual elements of the system, for example:
- The limit switch going to the doors or trunk may wear out or rust;
- the control wire broke during operation;
- the shock sensor is not connected to the system;
- wires going to the main unit are disconnected, etc.
Often such problems arise in systems that have been in operation for several years. In this case, alarm diagnostics is required.
Less often, the siren is turned off as a result of accidentally pressing the buttons on the key fob. This can be understood by the icon on the screen in the form of a crossed out speaker.
The key fob may also be faulty. However, it does not display complete information about the condition of the car. To check the functionality of the device, the following steps are performed. Remove the battery and then put it back in place. At this time, all available icons light up on the screen for a few seconds. If the crossed out speaker and some other icons remain turned off on Starline A91, A93, etc., then the key fob is faulty.
In this case, it needs to be repaired.
In most cases, when the siren turns off, it is recommended to contact a service technician to diagnose and troubleshoot the problem.
What to do if the engine does not start after turning off the alarm?
If the system is deactivated, but there are malfunctions in the engine, certain actions must be taken.
- Battery diagnostics from a battery, without a key fob.
Sometimes problems appear if the device fails or is simply discharged. The battery is carefully inspected, the case is checked separately for defects. The electrolyte level in the jars also matters. Working fluid is simply added if its deficiency is noticeable. If necessary, recharge the battery and check the voltage applied to the terminals.
- Check the power unit. No emergency shutdown required.
It happens that the owners themselves break the engine during operation. Functionality testing is required for all elements of the system. This applies to high-voltage wires, spark plugs and distribution units, the so-called starter devices. The mechanism definitely needs to be replaced if cracks and other serious defects are visible. After this, repeat the removal.
- Diagnostics of the immobilizer and its operation.
The operation of systems is often associated with conflicts between security and a standard-type blocker. In some cases, an immobilizer bypass module is installed. It's easy to throw it off too.
- On the control unit, all connectors and wires are checked for integrity.
The conductor is immediately replaced if damage is noticeable in the insulation layer. Higher strength can be easily achieved by wrapping everything with electrical tape. Then the security works again.
StarLine security sometimes continues its work despite the correct execution of all sequences. Therefore, additional checks are required - on the quality of feedback and the condition of the batteries in the key fobs. Removing the connector from the antenna modules along with the reverse connection is performed in the following steps.
Rewriting the remotes themselves is another option to help solve problems. Sometimes the signal is interrupted due to interference present at operating frequencies. Rewriting sets everything to free frequencies. First, there are seven siren signals, then the lights flash several times. Then press buttons 1 and 2 on the remote control simultaneously until another signal appears in the form of sound. The other key is not used.
Setting up the Starline A93 key fob after removing the battery
Sometimes the alarm starts to malfunction. If the reason is a deep discharge of the battery, then the battery should be replaced. However, there may be cases when the Starline car alarm will not work correctly even after installing a new part. Then you should reset to factory settings:
- turn off the ignition;
- press the settings button 9 times;
- turn on the ignition, nine siren signals will indicate the success of the procedure;
- Let's see a second reset for the second table, now you need to press the settings key ten times;
- after finishing, click on the service button and listen to one siren signal;
- press K1 of the key fob, the machine will make a sound, indicating a return to standard settings;
- turn off the ignition, the car will blink three times with the emergency lights, indicating a successful procedure.
Locking relay price
If you want to fully unleash the potential of the security system, and also install a blocking relay, it can be purchased separately. The cost of the unit depends on the part index, as well as the city of purchase.
Relay | Minimum price, rub. Moscow | Minimum price, rub. Saint Petersburg |
R2 | 1500 | 1450 |
R3 | 1900 | 2000 |
R4 | 2350 | 2200 |
R6 | 4550 | 4700 |
Hood lock
Advanced Starline B9 models have the option of blocking the engine compartment. This is necessary so that an attacker cannot get to the car battery, remove the wires or deactivate the sound siren. This relay is included, but if additional reliability is required, universal electromechanical locks can be purchased and installed separately. They are connected to the security complex via a special connector, interact with the control panel and can be connected to the central control unit of the complex.
