How does the StarLine immobilizer bypass work without a key?

Using autostart is a convenient thing, but on any more or less modern car it directly conflicts with the car’s standard anti-theft system. What do autostart circuits physically do? Turn on the ignition and power to the starter, bypassing the ignition switch. But at the moment when voltage appears on the circuits powered through the ignition line (regardless of how), the car’s standard immobilizer begins to request a response chip, which is either applied to a separate reader or located in the key itself. No response – engine starting is blocked. For successful autostart, the alarm must be able to simulate the presence of a chip in the reader’s coverage area - this task is performed by the immobilizer crawler.

Modules 2CAN, CAN+LIN, 2CAN+LIN

To obtain data for simulating a standard key, you must perform the “training” procedure for the module.
“Training” is carried out with the power supply connected and the car’s digital interface circuits CAN, LIN, RX/TX, etc. in accordance with the description on the website can.starline.ru on the “Connection points” tab for the selected vehicle. To “train” the car to operate the “Bypass the standard immobilizer” function:

Turn off the ignition. Press the service button 14 times.

In less than 5 seconds, turn on the ignition.

Perform additional “training” steps if indicated in the comments on the can.starline.ru website for your car.

The module will go into data processing mode, which can last no more than 5 minutes and is accompanied by short-term siren signals with an interval of 3 seconds.

Successful “learning” will be confirmed by 2 siren signals.

If the bypass algorithm has not been recognized, then 4 short siren beeps will follow.

If there are no siren signals, check the connection:

  • complex nutrition;
  • access to the siren of the main block of the complex;
  • CAN-H and CAN-L circuits;
  • service button.

To reset the “learning” you must perform a factory reset.

Malfunctions

By itself, the immobilizer bypass practically cannot break down - the only component that can fail is the relay, but its resource, taking into account the frequency of use of the autostart, is very long. Problems with autostart due to the fault of a crawler are simply checked:

  1. When turning off the car, leave the key in the ignition without removing it so that it remains within the range of the reader.
  2. Wait at least 30 seconds.
  3. Set the car to security, then give the command to autostart, observing the reaction.
  4. If during autostart the ignition turns on normally, the engine is cranked by the starter and catches, then the problem is precisely in connection with the lineman. Otherwise, you can exclude this from the list of possible faults.

To check the Starline crawler, you must first find it by tracking it along the wire from the overhead antenna. The antenna, of course, must be in the right place - it often slides to the side if the installer did not fasten it properly at the time.

There are two two-pin connectors on the body of the immobilizer crawler: a patch antenna is connected to one of them, and power and control are connected to the second. The red wire of this connector should be supplied with “plus” power either constantly or simultaneously with the ignition (depending on how the installer did it); on the black wire a “ground” from the alarm appears at the moment when the autostart algorithm starts (or pulsed, or for the entire time the autorun is running).

When installing the launch, we save all the keys to the car!

Connection

The connection involves three wires - red, black and gray. The first is connected to a circuit with a voltage of 12 V - this is a power plus. The black circuit is the 70 mA negative control input. At the moment the negative potential is applied to the black wire, the electronic encryption code is identified. This wire connects to the remote start module output connector.

Also, do not forget that connecting the Starline immobilizer crawler also involves introducing an antenna into the network. The gray wires are designed specifically for this task. In the most common schemes, the complete antenna is attached to the ignition switch and connected to the connector at the end of the gray wires.

Keyless start system

In the early 2000s, when autostart was just starting, this problem was solved head-on, the installer picked out the chip from the key and simply glued it to the ignition lock frame. Then modules for bypassing the standard immobilizer appeared - this is a small box in which the entire chip or key is placed, at the right moment it is activated and the car starts. However, this method has several disadvantages:

  • If the owner has only one key
  • The insurance company does not approve of having one of the keys in the car
  • Making a duplicate chip for some models is very expensive
  • I would like to have two working keys on hand
  • It is impossible to make a duplicate key

How to make a crawler yourself?

The structure of the blocker bypass module includes active components, but the device body is always made of plastic, even if it is a branded device. This is important, because if the case is made of steel, then the consumer will end up with the effect of a short-circuited turn in the main coil, which is wound around the key. When installing the device, this point must be taken into account; therefore, installing the housing next to metal surfaces is not recommended.

To make the module yourself, you need to find a plastic case, preferably its dimensions should be minimal. Then you will need a regular four-contact relay, designed to operate in a 12-14 volt vehicle on-board network. This element is fixed inside the lineman’s body. When bypassing the standard blocker, a current is switched, the value of which is less than one Ampere. Because of this, any relay can be used, it is important that it can withstand a large number of operations. Take a 1N4001 diode element (available on the radio market) and solder its contacts to the relay taps, but keep in mind that this part is activated in reverse polarity.

Four contacts will come out of the body of the homemade lineman:

  1. A two-core cable is used to connect an external coil. Installation of this component is usually carried out next to the ignition switch; this will require removing the trim from it.
  2. The power contact must be connected to the negative output, that is, it is connected to the anti-theft complex.
  3. A wire with a +12 volt output; power must be supplied to it. We recommend connecting directly to a battery or other electrical circuit where voltage is always present, even when the ignition is turned off.

The “deception” coil is installed next to the lock. This element should include about fifty turns of winding cable. You can use wires from any manufacturer, but thin winding cables will break from time to time.

There are several options to install the device:

  • make a coil separately and fix it on the plastic lining of the ignition switch, where the lineman is installed;
  • dismantle the protective lining of the lock by disconnecting the electrical plug in advance, and the wire can be wound directly onto the casing.

If you decide to choose the first option, then to implement it it is more convenient to use a regular faceted glass wrapped in electrical tape. At the final stage, the winding is fastened, this will require epoxy resin.

If you decide to choose the second option, the result will be more aesthetically pleasing. Self-tapping screws are screwed into the plastic lining; they must be heated in advance on the stove or with a lighter. And their caps will be used as terminal contacts. A thinner cable is soldered to the surface of these contact elements; they must first be cleaned of plastic residues.

Advantages and disadvantages

Advantages of immo Starline crawlers:

  • low price for devices of this quality, which make it possible to protect the engine blocking circuits from hacking;
  • effective operation of the device and its productivity;
  • after installation, the device is automatically synchronized with the machine’s systems and integrated into its type;
  • the presence of the device makes it easier to use the remote engine start function;
  • installing a blocker bypass will not in any way affect the operation of security systems and other electronic devices, of course, if the installation is done correctly;
  • ease of installation and operation;
  • immo crawlers work well with systems equipped with the option of remote starting of internal combustion engines;
  • The blocker bypass module can function without constant use of the standard immo key.

The only disadvantages include the difficulties that consumers may encounter when connecting. If you do not have experience in implementing such tasks, then it is better to seek help from electricians.

Using the StarLine iKey algorithmic bypass function allows you to significantly save money and keep all the standard car keys: the latter is a prerequisite for CASCO insurance (risk of theft/theft) in many insurance companies.

Keyless bypass of immobilizer StarLine F1

The StarLine F1 module is designed to automatically temporarily disable the standard immobilizer when starting the engine remotely. The device is the result of cooperation between StarLine and Fortin. Supports about 120 car models from 16 manufacturers.

Keyless bypass of StarLine iKey immobilizer

Keyless bypass StarLine iKey is available for most modern cars present on the Russian market; StarLine developers are constantly working to expand this list and add new functionality to the maximum number of cars.

If the firmware with iKey support for your car was released after the installation of the alarm system with auto start, you can contact the technical center, where the immobilizer bypass will be connected via a digital bus, and the key previously stored in the bypasser will be returned to you. If your car is not yet on the list of supported ones, but you want to implement autostart without losing the original key, use the StarLine F1 keyless bypass module for the standard immobilizer - it guarantees the safety of the car thanks to control via a digital code channel. Please check with our managers about the compatibility of your car with the StarLine F1 module.

Let's consider 3 variants of the Solaris car: 2011-2015 with a key, 2016 with a key and 2011-2016 with a button.

Unlock process

When the immobilizer is active, the ignition must be turned on. At the same time, the immobilizer lamp on the instrument panel will begin to blink, indicating that the immobilizer has blocked the engine from starting. What to do next? Press and hold the gas pedal, after which the lamp will stop flashing.

Now we need to enter the code using the on-board computer button. To do this, the button must be pressed in an amount equal to the first digit of the code. Let's release the gas pedal, the light will start flashing again. The action described above must be carried out for all numbers.

Once all the code has been entered, the lamp will remain on all the time. This is a good sign that the engine is unlocked and can now be started. There is no need to be surprised if, after pressing the button on the key with the transmitter, the immobilizer blocked the engine from starting on the Prior. What to do in this case? It's okay, it's okay.

If you enter the wrong code three times in a row, the next attempts are possible only after 15 minutes. To configure other keys, you need to unlock the immobilizer. His light should not be on. Then you need to turn the ignition on and off, quickly press the central locking control button. The doors will close and open again (or vice versa). The immobilizer light will come on. Within the next 15 seconds you need to do the following:

  1. Point the IR key at the signal receiver and press the key button 2 times with an interval of one and a half seconds. The doors should open and close.
  2. Now we need to carry out similar actions with the keys that we want to program for the current immobilizer.

All actions need to be carried out only once for each linked key. Note that this is a generalized process. If the immobilizer has blocked the engine of a Nissan Almera or another car from starting, then perhaps unlocking and binding the keys is carried out a little differently. In any case, information about this is in the instructions.
