I have had an a64 2can slave car alarm for 3 years now. There have been no glitches the whole time, nothing to complain about. I didn’t find any disadvantages, only advantages: reliability, high-quality communication (the response is always the first time), a large radius of operation of the key fob. Definitely not worth the money. The usual two-way alarm system, nothing interesting. To enable at least autostart, you need to buy a special module, which is expensive. Why do this if you can buy it already with all the necessary functions and much cheaper.
The alarm has a dialogue code, which, according to the manufacturer, provides 100% protection against theft. I've had my Passat for over a year. It works great, the car hasn't been stolen yet. The controls are convenient, I especially like the large button on the remote control. The key fob itself is not very miniature, but it is comfortable in the hand, and it does not consume batteries as much as my previous alarm. Not the most successful of Starline products. By paying a little extra, you can get the same A96 with a more advanced security system, a motion sensor and auto start. I can’t say that it works poorly, it’s just that the price does not correspond to the quality and functionality.

Works steadily. Very good reception radius, works even through several thick walls. We connected via CAN bus, the whole process took no more than 4 hours. The price of the signal is clearly overpriced. Despite the fact that the kit does not include a GPS module with an antenna, you have to buy it separately. There are only 2 relays in the box, although this is clearly not enough for connection via the CAN bus. The instructions are written rather vaguely, there is no clear installation guide for CAN. It seems that manufacturers deliberately confuse people so that they contact their service center for installation.
Efficient and functional alarm system. Starline has never let me down yet. There were some problems, but this was due to a slightly “crooked” installation. Some functions were written incorrectly. It’s good that there are many service centers, I went to the nearest one and set everything up for a small amount. Recently installed A66 on a 2014 Mazda. Among the shortcomings, I would like to note the inconvenient, large key fob and the rapid drainage of the battery when the alarm is working. I also don’t like some of the confusion in the controls; the old system was much simpler. Honestly, I expected better from Starline.

Full use of all options is allowed only after binding the key fob.

Guide to linking the keychain:

  1. Turn off the ignition with the key in the Off position. With the system turned off, click on the service button seven times, then set the key in the lock to the ACC position. The siren speaker will play seven beeps, this indicates successful entry into the binding mode.
  2. Simultaneously click on the first and second pager keys. The siren speaker will play one sound pulse, and one melodic signal will be played by the remote control beepper.
  3. The previous paragraph is repeated for programming each communicator. The time interval between binding each subsequent remote control should be no more than five seconds.

How to disable?

If you were able to turn on the security, but cannot turn it off using the key fob, you can disable the security mode using the service button. For emergency shutdown, the consumer must know the password.

Procedure for turning off the alarm:

  1. The door lock is opened with a key, the alarm siren will start playing alarm pulses. If the protective mode was activated without using the communicator, the vehicle's lights will blink four times.
  2. Activate the ignition by inserting the key into the lock and turning it to the ACC position. Click on the service key several times. The number of presses must correspond to the first digit of the code. If it is 8, then the key is pressed eight times. When using a unique password, the alarm will disable the protective mode and the lights will blink twice. If the password is two-digit, then after entering the first digit the ignition is turned off.
  3. The ignition is turned on again. The second digit of the password is entered into the service key. If the code was entered correctly, the protective function will be deactivated and the lights will blink twice. If a three-digit password is used, the ignition is turned off.
  4. The key is again set to the ACC position, and the third digit of the password is entered.

Is there auto start?

Initially, the Starline A64 alarm system does not have the option of automatic engine start. But it can be implemented by installing an additional special module from Starline M21 or M31.

Installation of these devices can lead to the following consequences:

  1. Starting the power unit will only be possible using a smartphone application, as well as by calling and sending messages. Using a standard communicator will not allow you to configure this function.
  2. There may be nuances regarding engine blocking. The consumer may have to block the ignition zone with the M21 or M31 module. The same goes for restoring blocked electrical circuits. It is almost impossible to perform the correct setup yourself; you will have to contact qualified installers.
  3. Locks performed by the Starline A64 anti-theft complex will be canceled using the TX cable, which is blue. Setting up autorun

Setting up and enabling automatic engine start via the M31 module on the StarLine A61 signaling occurs via a mobile phone. If you need to start the engine remotely using a bell:

  1. call the number of the SIM card that is inserted into the module;
  2. dial the password set by the manufacturer or chosen independently on the phone and wait for the system greeting;
  3. dial command 21 or 26 - in the first case, after starting the engine, you must stop the call manually, and in the second case, the connection is disconnected automatically.

To stop the car plant, command “20” is sent after the call.


In addition to calls, it can be configured and controlled via SMS messages. That is, the required command is not typed during a call, but is sent in a message using a predetermined algorithm. So, to start the engine, the standard type of SMS will be as follows: 21004321. The number “21” is the code - the digits separating the command values, and “4321” is the individual password.

Autostart by time

Using the M31 module, it is possible to start the engine at a predetermined time - using an alarm clock. To do this, use a simple command 0067+3#ttmmd1-d7 , where:

  • ttmm — time when the function should be enabled in hours and minutes;
  • d1-d7 — days of the week from Monday (1) to Sunday (7).

To turn off the alarm, enter or send in a message the command 0067+3#0000.

Autostart based on temperature

The Starline A61 car alarm boasts a temperature sensor. Therefore, it is allowed to automatically turn on the motor according to its data. In order for the power unit to start warming up, you need to dial or send the command 0067+2#t to the module number, where:

  • t is an indicator of the temperature at which activation will occur and which can range from -1 to -30 degrees Celsius.

Malfunctions and ways to eliminate them

Problems that the consumer may encounter:

  1. The alarm does not respond to commands sent. First of all, you need to diagnose the condition of the battery installed in the key fob. The battery is changed by removing the cover and removing the old power source. When replacing, observe polarity.
  2. The signaling system reacts to sending commands every once in a while. The reason may be that the control button on your device is damaged or worn out. To solve the problem, you will have to disassemble the device case, clean it and replace the damaged button. To do this, you will need a soldering iron with a thin tip, as well as consumables (rosin and tin). If purchasing a new button is problematic, monitor the secondary market.

  5. If the alarm does not work correctly, “glitches”, or turns on and off the protection mode for no reason, check the microprocessor unit. Malfunctions in the operation of the module may be due to the need to update the firmware or external influences. The latter include mechanical damage, regular vibrations, and moisture ingress. Limitations and features of autorun on Starline

The manufacturer does not recommend installing expansion units on outdated devices manufactured before A61. They can be identified by two characters in the model number: A2, A6 and so on. It is better to replace them with new ones, since the level of security provided by old security systems does not meet modern requirements.
