No matter how reliable the alarm system is, a situation comes when it will need to be turned off in an “unusual” way - for example, when you need to drive urgently, but the car stubbornly does not respond to pressing the key fob buttons. The emergency shutdown algorithm without a key fob is included in all StarLine alarm models. In addition, knowledge of the operating principle of this algorithm will further enhance the safety of the car.
Disabling the alarm using the Valet button
- We open the car door with the key.
- Before turning off the alarm, we check whether the vehicle is automatically set to security mode - this will be indicated by the turn signals blinking four times.
- Next, turn on the ignition, but do not start the engine. Find the Valet button - you need to press it 3 times.
- Turn off the ignition and wait for the siren's triple signal, which will notify you that the security system has been turned off.
Auto engine start
To disable engine autostart, select the icon with the corresponding function on the screen. This is done by sequentially pressing the 3rd and 1st buttons. After selecting the icon, you need to click on button 2 and wait for the melodic sound, after which the timer icon will disappear.
Automobile plant by temperature
It is turned off like this: using button 3, the cursor is placed on the icon with a thermometer and then press button 2. If everything is done correctly, a melodic signal will play and the dimensions will flash twice.
2. How to program security and service alarm functions
As part of programming Starline A91, you can determine in which mode each of the security and service alarm functions will operate. Their complete list and possible work options are presented in Table No. 1.

Before you begin programming, please review the list of functions. This is necessary so that before setting up you already know which function you want to program.
The principle is the same for everyone: enter programming mode, select a function and set one of 4 operating modes. The general procedure is as follows:
- To enter programming mode, press Valet 5 times.
- After this, turn on the ignition and wait for 5 siren signals.
- Press Valet again a number of times equal to the number of the function you want to configure. This number can be taken in the first column of table No. 1. To be sure that you have chosen exactly the right function, the manufacturer has provided light and sound indication. It is shown in the table below.
- Select one of 4 function states. To do this, click the button that corresponds to the desired option. As well as the serial number of the function, key combinations are given in Table No. 1. The alarm and key fob will emit 1-4 beeps depending on which option you choose.
Turbo timer
In the case of autostart based on temperature, the mode allows the power unit to warm up before the trip, but thanks to the turbo timer, the engine will gradually cool down.
The turbo timer is disabled when the security mode is activated. Hold down button 3 and enter the settings menu located at the bottom of the screen. By short pressing the same button, select the “TURBO” icon and confirm the selection with key 1. “TURBO” should disappear from the screen and a melodic signal should sound.

1. Scope of delivery
The Starline A91 car alarm is very reliable, simple and versatile. It has an extended package, which includes everything necessary for stable operation and comfortable operation of the system.
This is the central processing unit, control key fobs, sensors, transceiver with antenna, LED indicator and cables necessary for connection. You can study the package in more detail in the pictures below.
Shock sensor
There are two levels of response to external influences, which are turned off sequentially. To deactivate the first one, briefly press button 1 twice - the car will react with a pair of headlight flashes and a melodic signal will sound. Symbols for temporarily disabling the first level of the shock sensor will appear.
To disable the second level, press the first button twice again - the dimensions will flash three times, and the key fob will beep three times. Temporary disable icons for both levels will appear on the screen.
Hood sensor
The only way to turn it off is to disconnect the wire connecting it to the sensor from the main unit.
Immobilizer
To turn it off completely, press and hold key 3 until a beep sounds. When the process is announced, using the same button, but with short presses, select “IMMO” in the lower area of the screen. Using key 1, we confirm the choice and wait for sound signals from the key fob, and blinking dimensions from the car.

To disable the immobilizer temporarily, click on button 2 or press the Valet service button.
What it is
Valet mode or simply service mode is widely used in car alarms of various configuration levels and budgets. When this mode is activated, key functions that perform vehicle protection tasks are deactivated. That is, in fact, the car is not protected. This mode is used in situations where the car is safe; it is impossible to disarm it completely, but it is also not worth turning off the system entirely. A striking example is the transfer of a car to a car service center. By turning on the Valet, the alarm will not go off and the technician will have access to the interior, trunk or engine compartment without any problems. In this case, the keychain remains with you.
If we talk about older models, then there is another purpose for the service mode. Previous security systems implied the need to switch to Valet if it was necessary to configure the system.
Usually, when installing a car alarm that has Valet, a special button is installed. They try to put it in the most accessible place so that an attacker does not have the opportunity to use it and disarm the car.
Never tell anyone where this button is. Even if you leave the car at a trusted car service center.
Valet is found on a fairly large number of security systems designed for vehicles.
In particular, they can be found on the following signals:
- Sherkhan Magicar;
- Sheriff;
- Tomahawk;
- Cenmax;
- Jaguar;
- Pandora;
- Ghost;
- Alligator;
- Starline, etc.
In fact, motorists have two main questions:
- how to remove the mode if it is enabled;
- how to activate it.
Somehow I personally encountered the fact that after activation I stubbornly could not disable Valet on my machine. I had to dig into the instruction manual. The problem was resolved quickly. But I advise you to first look at the instructions from your manufacturer.
5. Engine starting functions
The next group of StarLine A91 alarm options consists of automatic and remote engine start functions.
The engine can start working on command from the key fob, at the set temperature or alarm clock, and can also turn on every day at the same time specified by the user. We looked at remote and automatic engine starting in more detail in this article.
Replacing the VAZ 2114 fuel filter: instructions for performing the work
Regular vehicle diagnostics and maintenance help avoid breakdowns. The VAZ 2114 fuel filter must be replaced in a timely manner. The device is located in the fuel system, the breakdown of which negatively affects the functioning of the engine.
Main reasons for replacement
The fuel filter on a VAZ filters out various impurities in gasoline using a special material. The cellular structure of the device in question becomes clogged during operation. In this case, malfunctions occur in the operation of the vehicle’s power unit. Replacement of the fuel filter is required if the following symptoms are present:
- the vehicle stalls at idle;
- gasoline consumption increases;
- presence of failures in the performance of the motor;
- The engine power decreases, it throttles;
- failure to start the engine;
- VAZ 2114 twitches while driving uphill;
- braking during movement.
If the VAZ 2114 filter is very dirty, this may indicate the following problems:
- malfunction of the crankshaft position sensors;
- incorrect throttle position;
- mass air flow;
- detonation;
- wiring fault;
- failure of spark plugs.

The pressure gauge is connected to the nipple located on the fuel injector frame. If the pressure gauge readings are lower than those regulated by the manufacturer, the device is cleaned.
The fuel purifier is made in the form of a cartridge built into the fuel system of the VAZ 2114. It can be inspected on an overpass. The main elements of the fuel system are installed in front of the exhaust pipe. The vehicle is equipped with injection power units with a working volume of 1.5-1.6 liters. The operating pressure for the fuel filter on the VAZ 2114 ranges from 3-5 bar.
Instructions for performing work
The VAZ 2114 fuel filter can be replaced at a service station or independently. To do the work yourself, you will need the following materials and tools:
- O-rings;
- a new filter with a suitable design;
- open-end wrenches 10, 17 and 19 mm;
- 2 containers.
It is recommended to carry out repair work in a well-ventilated area. Due to the high flammability and combustibility of gasoline, safety precautions must be observed. You should not smoke and avoid open sources of fire nearby. It is imperative to protect the skin and mucous membranes from contact with fuels and lubricants.
- fastenings are treated with lubricant;
- remove the fuel line fitting using 17 and 19 mm wrenches;
- the filter can be held with a 19 mm wrench;
- the remaining gasoline is poured into a previously prepared dry and clean container.
The fitting of the fuel outlet line is removed by analogy and the remaining gasoline is drained from this area. The clamp is loosened with an open-end wrench by 10. The used cleaner is dismantled. To remove the pipes in models with a 1.6 liter engine, you will need to press on the spring clamps of the fuel line. Now a new gasoline purifier is being installed.
O-rings are replaced with new analogues. Drops of gasoline that fall on the filter must be wiped dry. When replacing the fuel filter, install the new device in the reverse order. There is an arrow on the purifier body indicating the direction of movement of the fuel flow. In models with a 1.5 liter engine, the arrow should point from the right side to the left, in cars with a 1.6 liter engine - vice versa.
Then you need to wait until the air is displaced from the new purifier and filled with fuel. The next stage involves checking the tightness of the connections. The engine is started for a few seconds. A check is made for the presence of gasoline leaks. If necessary, you will need to fit the tubes tightly onto the purifier.
The fuel filter on a VAZ is replaced every 30 thousand kilometers. Filling your car with low-quality fuel with a large amount of impurities shortens the service life of the purifier. In this case, the device is replaced every 10 thousand km.
