In this article, auto electrician Alexey Molotov answers the question “How to disable the starline anti-theft mode?”
Starline anti-robbery mode is an option of the security system, thanks to which you can prevent the forceful theft of a vehicle. What does it mean? An attacker breaks into the car while the car owner is behind the wheel and has the key fob in his hands. The engine, in this case, can be started. According to statistics, more than half of thefts are carried out this way.
The StarLine anti-robbery mode is triggered when an attacker tries to steal a car, with the engine running and the ignition on. The mode is activated in the following situations:
- Manually - without using a key fob.
- The engine is running, but the door is open for a long time.
The functions discussed above are provided in many types of Starline security systems, namely A91, A62, A94, A92 and A93. Below we will look at how the StarLine anti-robbery mode works and what its benefits are for the car owner.
Let's consider in what cases the Starline anti-robbery mode will be effective.
Theft by robbery
Law enforcement agencies often encounter situations where a car is stolen through robbery. The car owner starts the car, after which an attacker approaches the door and tries to pull the driver out from behind the wheel. At the same time, the engine is started or the ignition is turned on. In this case, the StarLine anti-robbery mode will work.
If the car is used as a taxi, then this option will also be useful. In this situation, you can lock the car doors and activate the hazard alarms if there are signs of an attack. The robber will not escape, even if he tries to pull the driver out by force. This situation is common when, after arriving at the destination, the passenger refuses to pay and tries to escape.
Protection from purse snatchers
Car owners often leave purses with money in the car. In this case, the theft occurs when the car is parked. In this case, the robber has enough time to take things from the car before the security system is activated. The theft, in turn, occurs the moment the door is opened. The result may be the theft of important papers, money, jewelry or a mobile phone.
There are also cases when the car and its owner become the victim of an attacker attacking from outside. For example, after an accident, a participant in the accident may try to pull the driver out from behind the wheel and open the doors. If there is a Starline anti-burglary mode, the doors are blocked and the alarm is turned on. As a result, the attacker cannot do anything with the car, even if there is a driver at the wheel.
As an example, it is worth citing another situation when police officers, after an accident, drop off the car owner and try to confiscate the car. Such cases, unfortunately, happen often. At the same time, the owner of the car can remotely give a command to turn on the system, which will be an unpleasant surprise for representatives of the law.
Attack near a car
To activate the StarLine anti-robbery mode, with the engine running or the ignition on, press and hold buttons No. 2 and No. 1 in the actuated state. In this case, the locks on all doors are closed, and the engine is blocked, taking into account the settings of the security system. The alarm goes off and the vibration and sound alarm flashes on the key fob. If the mode is turned on automatically, there is no need to press the key fob buttons.
If you plan to hide the activation of the mode, press and hold the service button of the key fob in this position. If activation occurs in hidden mode, there will be no indication on the remote control. At the same time, the security system will not turn on - it waits for the opening of any of the doors. Afterwards, the 30-second countdown starts, and the mode is fully activated - the engine and doors are blocked, taking into account the settings.
When setting up the StarLine anti-robbery mode, you can choose one of two blocking options. In the first case, the engine is blocked after pressing the gas, and in the second - immediately. The engine is completely blocked only after half a minute, and until this moment, pulse blocking works.
To disable the Starline anti-robbery mode, you can use the key fob or activate it without the remote control. Let's consider each of the options in more detail.
Press button No. 2 when the function is activated and the alarm is active.
To disable remote control mode, you must be inside the car. To do this, take the following steps:
- Turn off the ignition.
- Close and open the doors.
- Close the doors and stay in the car.
- Turn on the ignition, and after that, press the service button. Hold it in this position for 2 seconds.
Regarding the StarLine anti-robbery mode, it is worth listening to the reviews of car owners. Many drivers who have installed the Starline security system consider the option considered useless due to uncontrolled activation and deactivation. The number of drivers who want to activate this feature is less than those who would like to disable it altogether. Despite this, the presence of the Starline anti-robbery mode can save your life, car or material assets. So, don't give it up.

StarLine A92 Dialog operating instructions
user manual
Thank you for choosing the StarLine A92 Dialog car security system and wish you successful and safe trips!
Installation of car alarms must be carried out by qualified specialists. A car alarm is a complex technical device that requires connection to vehicle circuits associated with engine operation.
We strongly DO NOT recommend wearing your car alarm key fob on the same ring as your car keys.
If an icon appears on the key fob display warning that the key fob battery is low, take measures in advance to replace the battery. We recommend storing the new spare battery in the vehicle in its original packaging.
Read these instructions carefully, paying special attention to sections marked with (ATTENTION!).
Mandatory safety precautions when using the engine start function:
It must be remembered that a car is a vehicle of increased danger. Section 12.8. The traffic rules state: “The driver may leave his seat or leave the vehicle if he has taken the necessary measures to prevent the vehicle from moving spontaneously or being used in the absence of the driver.”
Before using the StarLine A92 Dialog car alarm, carefully read the safety precautions for using the remote or automatic engine start function outlined below:
- Always park your vehicle in an open, well-ventilated area.
- Always set the vehicle's parking brake, which must be in good condition and prevent the vehicle from moving.
- When leaving the vehicle, be sure to place the automatic transmission control lever in the “PARK” position and the manual transmission shift lever in the neutral position.
- If your car uses a manual transmission, then before turning on the remote or automatic engine start function, be sure to follow the “soft neutral” procedure for preparing to start the engine.
- Never start the car engine without the driver present or if anyone is in front of or behind the car.
- Never give car alarm control key fobs to children or other persons without first reading the operating instructions.
- On cars with a manual transmission, it is not recommended to start the engine remotely or automatically if the car is out of sight and the car alarm user is not able to control the engine starting process.
- Before enabling the remote or automatic engine start feature:
- make sure the car is in good condition
- Make sure there is enough fuel, oil, coolant, etc.
- turn off the windshield wipers
- set the operating parameters of the interior heater (air conditioner), heated glass and other accessories to the required levels
- set the interior airflow control to air circulation, which will allow you to more effectively heat or cool the air in the car

Interrupting alarms
If you want to interrupt alarms without disabling the security mode, for example, you checked the operation of the sensors, press button 1 of the key fob. In this case, the alarm will remain in armed mode. If at the time the alarm is interrupted the cause of the alarm has been eliminated, the sound signals and indications on the key fob display will stop. If, at the time the alarm is interrupted, the cause of the alarm has not been eliminated, the corresponding icon will continue to be displayed on the key fob display. The security zone will be temporarily excluded from the security circuit. The icon on the display will go out only after the cause of the trigger has been eliminated; 1 short beep will sound as confirmation.
To interrupt only the key fob alert signals, press button 3 of the key fob. In this case, alarm signals and indications on the key fob display will continue.
Remote activation of panic mode
To turn on the “panic” mode with the ignition off, simultaneously press and hold buttons 1 and 2 of the key fob for 3 seconds. There will be 3 siren beeps and 3 lights flashing. The key fob will beep. If the security mode was previously turned off, then when the “panic” mode is turned on, the door locks are locked. After turning off the “panic” mode, the security mode is automatically turned on. In this case, there will be no indication on the key fob display.

What risks can it save you from?
Theft by robbery
Quite often, law enforcement agencies are faced with the concept of theft through robbery. When you start the car, an intruder runs up to your door and, with the ignition on, tries to pull you out of the car. In this case, the system is triggered.
For taxi drivers
If the car is used for private transportation, it will be useful to set a mode. This way you can lock your car doors and turn on the hazard lights if you are attacked. The attackers will not go anywhere, even if they try to use force. Quite often, this situation arises when passengers refuse to pay the fare and want to run away.
Against purse holders
Many car owners carry significant amounts of money in the car. They are usually kidnapped the moment the car is parked. Criminals have time to steal things from your car before you set the alarm and open the door. They may steal money, papers, an expensive mobile phone or jewelry.
In case of an accident
Situations often arise when a car and its owner are attacked by a person from outside. For example, as a result of an accident, a dissatisfied participant may try to pull you out of the car or try to open the door. When the system is turned on, the doors are locked and the alarm is activated. This will automatically prevent anything from being done to your car, even if you are not in it.
The second situation in an accident is when police officers drop you off and they try to illegally confiscate your car. Unfortunately, this is not uncommon. You can, even being at a distance from the car, turn on the system - and this will be an unpleasant surprise for the police.
Assault near a car
When you see that there are unknown persons near your car who may threaten you, turn on the “Panic” system. This will scare away intruders - the alarm and light signals will turn on, which will attract attention. When there are witnesses, there are much fewer hunters to attack.
