As with the previous belt, check the tension. At an equal distance from the power steering pump and the fan pulley, it should be pulled back by 10-15 mm with the same load of 80 N.

What seemed so unusual here? But UAZ Patriot would not be itself if it did everything unquestioningly. And no, it’s not that the air conditioner refused to work, not at all. But the neighbors in the traffic jam were shocked by its inclusion in my car. How can you ask? Yes, everything is very simple. At idle, a delicious whistle was heard, the nightingale robber was quietly resting on the sidelines. Only my passengers suffered, in order to avoid public discontent, and to preserve my nervous system, it was decided to open the windows, let in fresh road dust, and proceed to the destination without such a benefit as air conditioning.

And so let me remind you of the background to the question, specifically regarding my car.

In the fall, the idler rollers were replaced and an Inserk 2120 belt was installed; it turned out to be long and whistled without air conditioning or load at all. It was replaced after 300 km with a Gates 2100 belt. Which is 3 times more expensive than inserk, xnu does not mean at all that it is just as much better. And he honestly walked 3000 km, and didn’t show it. But it stretched, and at the moment the load increased, and the air conditioner clutch, this is a significant load, it should be said, gave up and whistled.

When the air conditioner was turned on, wedging of the clutch pulley was clearly visible, and the belt had a fairly large deflection. But we are not looking for easy ways and I decided to tighten the belt in the only available way, by moving the power steering pump away.

Oh, everything is inconvenient under the hood of the Patriot, not at all, but there is such a moment a little.

We unscrew the bolts of the slide with keys 14 and 17.

Using the adjusting bolt, we move the pump away from the engine, I moved it about 5-7 mm. Reassemble in reverse order.

In general, there is nothing complicated, the belt has reached the required tension, there are no whistles or extraneous sounds.

The UAZ Patriot generator itself consists of several parts, which, if they fail, can be replaced with new ones purchased at the store. So don't rush to buy a new one if there is something wrong with the old one. It may be possible to get by with a little money by replacing one part in it.
