An electric pump is bolted to the washer pump housing from above through the reservoir cap. A fluid supply hose is connected to the bottom of the housing. If debris gets into the tank, the system hoses may become clogged; in this case, liquid will not flow to the nozzles. To eliminate this problem, you need to rinse the tank and fill it with clean liquid.

Clogged injectors

The calibration hole of the washer jets has a very small cross-section. If debris gets in, the nozzle becomes clogged and does not allow liquid to pass through. In this case, it is necessary to remove the injectors, disassemble and clean them. The nozzles can be cleaned by blowing with compressed air without dismantling. However, you should first disconnect the fluid supply hose to prevent debris from entering the system.

Dismantling . To remove the nozzle, you must first disconnect the fluid supply hose. Then you should squeeze the plastic sleeve from below (from the side of the air intake system box). Then pry the bushing from above with a flat-head screwdriver and pull out the nozzle along with the bushing.

Note : The injector can also be pushed up by gently pressing the inlet fitting from below, after opening the hood.

disassembled in the following order:

  • unscrew the adjusting screw installed in the sprayer;
  • thoroughly clean and rinse all parts of the nozzle;
  • we blow through the cavity of the body and the nozzle sprayer with compressed air;
  • Assemble the nozzle in reverse order.

Note : When cleaning jets with metal objects (needle, pin, thin wire), do not be too zealous so as not to damage the calibration hole.

Installation . First, insert the plastic sleeve into the hole on the hood. We take the nozzle by the upper part and push it into the bushing hole until it stops. After this, connect the fluid supply hose to the fitting.

Troubleshooting equipment

A failed washer that does not blow the windshield with a special liquid is restored. Most often, the injection pump needs to be replaced, which occurs in the following sequence:

  1. The contact group is removed from the device.
  2. Using a short screwdriver, remove the compressor from the hole.
  3. In its place we insert a new unit into the tank.
  4. We put connectors on the contact group, after which you can perform the test.

The engine operates with a characteristic sound when functioning correctly. The glass is blown with a water jet from the nozzles. If the tubes are replaced, you will have to wait a little time for them to fill with liquid. Using this system as intended will allow you to drive in any weather.

The electric motor of the cleaner does not function

If the electric motor does not work, but there is voltage at its contacts, then the problem is in the device itself. This could be wear on the brushes or failure of the windings. The brushes wear out over time, and the winding fails when the motor is overloaded. These products can be repaired, but for this you need to contact a workshop.

If the old motor has failed, there is no point in trying to repair it somehow. To buy a new part, you will have to spend very little money. And the replacement procedure on most cars is extremely simple.

I will describe the main stages of work associated with replacing this element of the windshield cleaning system of any car.

  • Turning off the vehicle's power. A safety measure without which further work makes no sense. Be sure to remove the negative terminal from the car. It's simple but important. Otherwise, you not only risk burning the wiring, but also getting an unpleasant electric shock yourself.
  • Search for a motor. It all starts with identifying where your windshield wiper motor is located. It depends on your car. On some cars, just lift the hood and you will immediately see the washer reservoir. The motor itself is located on the reservoir (partially inside) of the windshield wiper, into which the liquid is poured. Do you see the tank? If yes, then you are in luck. If not, then you will have to look for it by removing elements of the engine compartment. On some car models, the tank is hidden so that the fender protection has to be removed.

  • Disconnect the connectors with wires from the motor. Then remove the tank itself.
  • The hose and fitting are separated from each other. Don't forget to drain the liquid. Filling a new one will not be difficult. Yes, and for prevention it won’t hurt to do it.
  • Using a screwdriver, push the intake seal out of the bushing. This will allow you to completely remove the windshield washer motor.
  • Don't forget to install a new bushing when reassembling. This often leads to the washer pump itself breaking down. So the old bushing goes to the landfill.
  • Reassemble the assembly in reverse order. Here many craftsmen relax, because they consider the work done. In fact, reassembly causes more problems than disassembly. Advice from someone who made similar mistakes. That is, from me. Do not try to remember the location of parts unless you are confident in your memory capabilities. We got distracted by something, forgot, got confused. This happens to everyone, and there is nothing wrong with it. To ensure proper reassembly sequence, you can record, mark, or label the parts in the order in which they are removed. This will make it easier to put everything back together the way it was before.
