Replacing antifreeze on Hyundai Getz

The procedure is not complicated:

1. First, you should turn off the running Hyundai Getz engine and, if possible, allow it to cool.

At this time, the additives from the old oil are replaced by the additives of the new oil, therefore there is practically no protective film on the engine parts, and therefore there is no protection for the engine components. Frequent flushing of the oil system, in most cases, leads to hardening of the rubber oil seals of the engine, including oil seals, hence premature failure of the oil seals and the appearance of oil leaks or “oil wasting” on the engine. Of course, some oil manufacturers also offer “easy” oil system flushes. For example, the company has a flush and the company recommends its use “when operating in private traffic jams, with an aggressive driving style and exceeding the standard oil change interval.” It is also worth noting that when prescribing recommendations for the use of “light” washes, the manufacturer of the wash largely relies on its product with its properties and basic foundation. The choice is yours.

Tolerances: according to API, not lower than SG, according to SAE, the oil viscosity should be selected according to operating temperature conditions, in accordance with the selection table according to SAE. On my own behalf, I would like to say that 5w30 average oil according to SAE can be considered universal for all-season use.

Flushing the cooling system

To flush the cooling system from heavy deposits, special flushes based on chemical components are used. With a normal replacement this is not required, you just need to flush the old antifreeze out of the system. Therefore, we will use ordinary distilled water.

To do this, we put the pipes in their places, clamp them with clamps, and check that the drain holes are closed. We fill the expansion tank to the strip with the letter F, then fill the radiator with water up to the neck. Screw on the caps and start the engine.

Filling without air pockets

When using ready-made antifreeze for filling, you need to understand that after flushing, a residue of distilled water that cannot be drained remains in the system. Therefore, for Hyundai Getz it is better to use concentrate and dilute it taking into account this residue. Usually about 1.5 liters remain undrained.

It is necessary to fill in new antifreeze in the same way as distilled water when flushing. First into the expansion tank to mark F, then into the radiator to the top of the neck. Maybe there is no need to clean them? Necessary! Here those who have owned carburetor cars will understand me. We washed the carburetor, preferably once every six months or a year. The same goes for fuel injectors; they get dirty just like a carburetor. In our gasoline conditions, it is advisable to wash the injectors every 20-25 thousand kilometers. I am sure that you have never done this, and some of them have already driven over 100 thousand. Rinse it, you won’t regret it! The dynamics of the car and the responsiveness of the accelerator pedal change radically! In the future, to maintain the frequency, you can periodically (every 10 thousand) use various fuel additives that clean the fuel system, then you can extend the injector washing interval to 35-40 thousand km.

Within a few days, depending on the intensity of vehicle use, the condition of the antifreeze is checked again. If the level has dropped, add the required amount. If the color has changed, the coolant is of poor quality and requires new replacement.

Care should be taken when unscrewing and tightening connections, especially clamps and plugs. Experts emphasize the vulnerability of these parts and threads, which can lead to their breakage and antifreeze leakage.

Some car owners greatly simplify the washing process. For this purpose, the lower drains are left open, and ordinary water is supplied to the system under medium pressure.
