Installing covers on the front seats
It is better to remove the seats - this way the tension will be as tight as possible and without wrinkles.
If the covers have a separate putting on pattern, then first put the cover on the chair cushion.
- Put on the cover;
- Tuck the tongue between the pillow and the backrest;
- Spread the material around the entire perimeter.
- We first fix it with long thin elastic bands - we put them under the seat, stretch them and tie them together.
- We finally fix the lower part of the cover using installation rubber bands with hooks at the bottom of the seat.
car owners were advised to purchase a strong nylon cord from a fishing store and sew it to the covers instead of ribbons. With the Avtoprofi models, such efforts are not required: all models are pre-installed with wide stitched elastic bands with stainless steel hooks.
- The tongue of the upper half of the cover also fits between the pillow and the back.
- Then the fabric of the cover should be pulled down with a slight movement and smoothed so as to pull the material down as much as possible, towards the tongue.
- The cover is pulled over a tongue on the back of the chair, like leather on a drum.
- With maximum tightening, the front part of the cover is literally imprinted into the shape of the chair.
- The tongue is inserted under the back of the cover and secured with Velcro.
A little trick: holes for the headrest rods in the cover can be made using a screwdriver or... A regular cigarette!
Installing car covers on the rear row
Now you need to install the covers on the back row of the car. We remove the pillows and the backrest. Leave the back in place.
The donning pattern here is exactly the same as with the first row:
- On the back of the rear seat, you need to remove the seat belts, if present, and then fold the backrest.
- The cover consists of two halves and is positioned so that its zippers coincide with the fault lines of the back.
- Once put on, the zippers are closed and the two separate halves of the cover become one.
The rear covers are secured to the backs of the chair using elastic bands and hooks (everything is included in the kit).
On headrests, the covers are placed on top and secured with elastic bands.
How to disassemble the floor of a VAZ 2110 for sound insulation
First of all, it is necessary to dismantle the seats and remove the instrument panel.
To successfully remove the instrument panel, you can use the following instructions:
- Disconnect the negative terminal from the battery;
- Next, we look at the steering wheel housing, the ignition switch and the steering wheel;
- We unscrew and remove the two self-tapping screws securing the right panel of the floor tunnel lining (photo below);
- · Remove the shield (photo below);
- · Similarly, remove the left shield; · We remove the plug for the floor tunnel lining cover by slightly prying it with a screwdriver (photo below);
· Using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the screws securing the lining cover: two of them are located in the middle part of the tunnel (in the photo below - on the left) and two in the rear part of the tunnel (in the photo below - on the right).
Additional tips:
- The tighter the material adheres to the case, the longer they will last. Therefore, it is better to take the time to remove the seats before installation.
- If the seats have built-in side airbags, then choose the appropriate cover models.
- The unraveling seam must be placed on the side where the Airbag pillow is located.
- Remove the seats. At least the front row. The quality of planting will be higher, and it will take less time. Removing the seats is quite simple: turn off the electrics and unscrew the mounting bolts of the slide.
- Be sure to turn off the ignition before removing the seats and rear sofa!
- There is no need to remove the plastic on the sides of the seats. In principle, it is not suitable for removal and returning it to its place can be problematic. To better push the cover fabric between the seat and the plastic, it is good to use a smooth metal plate (about the same as what doctors use to examine the throat).
- Squeeze the seat upholstery while pulling the cover. This will make it easier to install the covers without damaging the fabric around the seams.
- It’s unlikely that anyone is going to install seat covers in the cold, but just in case, it’s worth pointing out that it’s best to install protective coverings at above-zero temperatures. Especially if the covers are made of natural or artificial leather (eco leather). These materials “tan” and lose elasticity at low temperatures, so if you don’t have a warm garage, then summer is the best season to install covers.
Repair of driver's seat VAZ 2110
The most common problem with the driver's seat of the VAZ 2110 is its misalignment.
The reason lies in the breakdown of the seat frame, backrest or brackets that connect them. Naturally, there is no point in buying and installing a new seat, since you can repair the old one. To repair a seat, you need to disassemble it, find the cause and eliminate it. Removing the seat of a VAZ 2110
First you need to move the seat forward completely, after which, using a screwdriver, we remove the torsion bars from the brackets that are located under the seat at the rear and remove them. Then you need to move the VAZ 2110 seat all the way back and unscrew the nuts that secure the brackets.
We remove the brackets. Now you can lift the seat and unscrew the bolts that secure the slides, first the front ones, and then, by moving the seat forward, the rear ones. Now you can remove the seat and continue disassembling it.
The seat belt bracket is secured with a bolt passing through two bushings. Unscrew it and remove the bracket. In order to disconnect the slide, you need to release its axle by removing the locking ring, and then remove the spring.
They are attached in exactly the same way as the seat belt bracket, so we unscrew the bolt, remove the bushings and disconnect the slide.
Removing seat upholstery VAZ 2110
First of all, you need to disconnect the seat from the backrest. To do this, unscrew two bolts on each side that hold the backrest and seat frames together. When this is done, we disconnect the seats and begin to disassemble it.
The standard seat bottom upholstery is secured with plastic pads. In order to remove them, you simply need to pull the pads one by one towards the center of the seat, after which they will come off the metal frame. Now you can remove the filler.
In order to remove the upholstery from the backrest, you first need to remove the headrest. At the lower end of the backrest, the upholstery is secured using metal teeth. We straighten them with pliers and release the upholstery.
Now we remove it (there is no need to pull it up), turning the front and back sides inside out alternately. When the seat back cover is almost completely removed, you need to use two flathead screwdrivers to remove the fasteners in which the headrest was installed. Now you can remove the filling and the soft foam part of the back.
Nuances of VAZ 2110 seat repair
A crack or rupture can occur in any part of the metal frame of both the back and seat of the VAZ. Carefully inspect all parts of the frame, since the appearance of one crack may trigger the appearance of another.
The places where there are breaks need to be thoroughly boiled and cleaned with a grinder, after which it is advisable to prime and paint them. If a crack or rupture occurs on a removable part of the frame, or on the brackets that connect two parts of the seat, welding work must be approached with particular care.
It is best to cook “in place” - set the frame to its normal position, connecting the backrest to the seat. If it is necessary to weld brackets, one of them (whole) must be used as a sample so that the geometry of both matches.
It may happen that the situation was neglected and the frame “led”. In this case, before carrying out work, you need to level it so that the frame takes a symmetrical shape and all fastening parts coincide with the corresponding places.
