Short review

On the eve of the spring of 2012, AvtoVAZ released a high-capacity station wagon - Lada Largus. This car is a joint project of the Tolyatti giant AvtoVAZ plant and the French corporation Renault-Nissan Alliance - and, I must say, a very successful one.

To produce the new model, AvtoVAZ workshops were equipped with the latest equipment, and a separate wide full-cycle production base was created. This allowed the use of modern technologies and innovative car assembly lines. As a result, following the pre-production batch of snow-white cars that were not intended for sale, Lada Largus models entered mass production, passed design testing and were available to buyers.

As previously expected by experts, the technical characteristics of the Lada Largus correspond to the status of this, first of all, high-class family car. Key advantages of the new product: spaciousness and reliability, confirmed by a test drive. In general, there are three modifications of the car: and a cargo van.

AvtoVAZ management has already stated that the Lada Largus will not be sold abroad. Basically, the car - which, we note, is maximally adapted to Russian operating conditions - will be sold only in Russia. It will be possible to buy a car through the dealer network of JSC AVTOVAZ, and you can also place an order for the purchase of a car via the Internet.

Production volumes

In February 2012, it is planned to produce more than 600 cars, and further on the rise - in total, about 30,000 new Lada Largus cars will roll off the assembly line in 2012.

As for prices, due to the low cost of car production, it will range from 340 to 420 thousand rubles, depending on the configuration.

Let us remind you that the Lada R90 debuted at the Moscow Motor Show in 2010. The high transformability of the seven-seater cabin allows for a large volume for transporting large and long cargo. In Europe, this car is produced under the Renault brand and is called Logan RF90. The Russian version is adapted to climatic and road conditions.

The most inexpensive Largus configuration is the “Standard” version. In it, the car has a five-seater interior, and is equipped with: halogen headlights, tilt-adjustable steering column, audio preparation, immobilizer, 15″ steel wheels, and a full-size spare wheel. In the “Norma” configuration, the car offers fabric upholstery, a third row of seats, a mirror in the passenger sun visor, a split seat in the second row, and bumpers in body color. Comfort options include electric windows for the front doors, heated front seats, central locking, athermal windows, and air conditioning. The highest level of equipment is offered by the “Lux” version. Here, not only the bumpers are painted in body color, but also the door handles, side mirrors, in addition there are roof rails and fog lights. The extended comfort package includes electric drive front and rear windows and side mirrors (the latter are heated). There is a CD player with MP3 support and a four-speaker audio system, a connector for connecting an external audio device, an on-board computer, and a Bluetooth communication system. The driver's seat is height adjustable.

I bought some rat poison, left the car in the parking lot for several days, the poison was gobbled up and didn’t seem to appear again (I hope). In the store I bought corrugation for 25 rubles / m of two diameters (just in case), removed all the old one, poured WD40 on the places where the insulation of the wires had been gnawed (maybe it will help against corrosion), wiped the wires and wrapped them with electrical tape, hid all this in a new corrugation which I tied everything to the wiring with the same electrical tape, we end up with:

Design

The design of the model can be called quite clumsy and outdated. The front greets us with a long hood, large halogen headlights and a large radiator grille bisected by a chrome horizontal line. In the center of the bumper there is a large air intake, along the edges of which there are round fog lamps mounted on black inserts. In the rear there are two large doors that can open either 90 or 180 degrees. The low bumper makes it easy to load even heavy loads.

ABOUT 140 THOUSAND

What kind of mysterious Renault models are AVTOVAZ planning to produce in the amount of about 140 thousand per year? Here is my personal version: these are the Logans and Sanderos of the current generation. Since the appearance of “Logan-2” is already predetermined (the premiere will be in Paris in the fall, and the Geneva “Lodge” showed what it will be like), and the capacities for the first one are still quite capable - why not give it to Tolyatti, and maybe to Izhevsk? The Moscow Avtoframos will concentrate on the Duster, Fluence and other models, fortunately demand allows. Suppliers are ready, technologically this step is justified - we will soon find out whether I got it right or not.

Expert opinion

When driving with a variable rhythm, the good elasticity of the engine and the precise operation of the five-speed “mechanics” were clearly evident.
On the one hand, at a speed of 80 km/h, sixth gear would be very useful, on the other hand, the chosen option makes the car very convenient for everyday trips. Engines that meet Euro 4 standards are economical - when driving fast enough, a car that traveled only 2000 km showed an average consumption of 7.6 l/100 km at the end of the day. On bad roads, another promise of the developers was confirmed: there are no “crickets” in the car. Even after the cars from the experimental batches traveled more than 100 thousand km, no extraneous sounds appeared. ABOUT POWER

Studying the technical specifications plate, I saw very familiar (I remember from Logan) numbers: 64 kW, that is, 90 hp. Excuse me, not 90, but 87 hp! I know the coefficient: 1.36... But if it works for all other Dacia and Renault engines, then here the “horses” bucked and attributed to themselves three extra heads - both in the Tolyatti cars and earlier in the Moscow ones. In general, this is a matter for the manufacturer; let him write at least 190 in brochures and prospectuses. Because in the official documents of, say, the editorial “Logan” (PTS, registration certificate), the same engine looks more honest: 64 kW/87 hp. I hope it will be the same on the frets. And then, you know, taxes, they are calculated from the “horses”.

Find the difference

The appearance of the van and station wagon is almost completely identical. The van is produced on the same B0 platform, developed by VAZ together with the Renault-Nissan alliance, as the passenger versions of Largus. The main difference between the vehicles is the completely blank rear-side and rear panels of the van.

The van is intended for commercial purposes, in particular for transporting goods in urban or rural areas. In this regard, it has very decent dimensions. The length of the car is almost 4.5 meters (4470 mm), the width is 1.7 (1750 mm), the height is just over one and a half meters (1650 mm). And the weight is about 2 tons.

The van has a spacious luggage compartment of 2.5 cubic meters. This means that up to 800 kg of cargo can be stored there. It is important that access to the trunk is provided both through the rear doors and through the front ones. The color palette of the van is very modest - only 3 shades of gray. The interior of the cargo version is very ascetic and equipped only with the essentials. There is room for one more passenger next to the driver's seat. The interior is separated from the luggage compartment by a plastic partition.

PRESIDENTIAL RACE

We are driving the Largus again, but now under the wheels is not the concrete of the track, but the asphalt of the Samara highway. This is the car of project director Mikhail Ryabov, and he himself is driving, hurrying to the AVTOVAZ training ground - tomorrow the Presidential race will be held here, that is, the leaders will fight for the prize of the head of AVTOVAZ.

We pass a railway crossing, and I remember with pleasure the Logan with its wonderful, simply royal pendants. "Largus", despite being able to carry seven, inherited the smoothness, comfort, and controllability of its progenitor. I remember the words of Monsieur Schweitzer, the head of Renault and the father of Logan: “Our car is modern, affordable, reliable.” It is a real art to combine three of these qualities in one car. But I digress. And the other crew members fell silent, planning to take a nap in the warmth on the spacious middle sofa and in the third row (there are five of us in the cabin, plus luggage).

ZR - PRO "LOGAN MCV"

From its very appearance, it aroused great interest, and we waited to answer the question: will there be a car in Russia? - someday there will be an affirmative answer. Unable to bear it, we undertook an expedition to France to get acquainted with the new product ( ZR, 2007, No. 7 ). They noted the impressive capacity, practicality, efficiency, and were amazed at the unusual seat belt design for the fifth passenger. And then a reader unexpectedly called: “I bought a Logan MCV, would you like to do a test?” “Dacia” then easily defeated its classmates - “Fiat-Doblo” and “Peugeot-Partner”, disappointing only with its brilliant absence on the Russian market and not quite intelligible brakes ( ZR, 2007, No. 12 ).

The next was material about Largus, made after its first display at an exhibition in the Moscow Manege dedicated to the 45th anniversary of AVTOVAZ ( ZR, 2011, No. 10 ).

Other changes

It is also worth highlighting some other minor interior changes in the new version:

  • armrest with storage compartment (borrowed from XRay and Vesta);
  • new key (folding);
  • the ERA GLONASS system block has been changed;
  • door handles (in expensive versions, in cheap ones - cutouts similar to those in Renault Logan).

MANY DAYS AGO

It all started... “It all started in 2008, when Renault bought 25% plus one share of AVTOVAZ,” picks up Sergei Korzhenovsky, deputy head of the RF90 project. This is how the factory documents designate the current Largus, that is, a station wagon (R90) and a van (F90) on the B0 platform of the Renault concern (it served as the base for Logan and Sandero, and several more models will be built on it).

We began to look for common ground, to choose cars that could be produced at AVTOVAZ. We considered the whole range, but quickly settled on the B0 platform: these machines have already shown themselves well, primarily in Eastern Europe. But Logan was already being made in Moscow, Sandero was also planned to be produced at Avtoframos, so the choice was actually predetermined: the Logan-MCV station wagon. It had a successful start in the markets of the Old World and, according to our expectations, would also come in very handy in Russia, complementing the AvtoVAZ range.”
