This simple way to activate cruise control on Vesta via an ELM327 adapter was shared by pavel-kor

The method was tested on instrument panels of old (white) and new samples (orange).

  1. For an Android smartphone, download and install the ECU Tweaker application. We copy the ecu.zip archive to the root of the internal or external memory without unpacking it.
  2. Connect the ELM327 V1.5 adapter to the OBDII port of the car.
  3. Turn on the ignition.
  4. Launch the “ECU Tweaker” application on your smartphone
  5. In the search, select “Clio V”
  6. Then "Meter Cluster"
  7. Then “Cluster C1A_CMFB15-40ph2_V2.20”
    (or “C1A_CMFB15-40ph2_V2.14”)
  8. Then "Configuration"
  9. Then "Configuration1"
  10. Then find the parameter “Language_CF”
  11. Set to Arabic
  12. Save value with the button on the right.

If the error RequestCorrectlyReceived-ResponsePending (7F2E78) appears after saving, the parameter should still be written. You can check this by refreshing the page, the parameter with the value “Arabic” should be saved, or start testing the instrument cluster (the cruise control and speed limiter indicators should be on).

Required

  • multifunction steering wheel (catalog number: 8450006832);
  • steering column switch (volatile) with wires for the steering wheel buttons (catalog numbers: 8450006923, 8450006924), or buy a cable with a large number of tracks and replace it inside the volute;
  • BLS pins for cochlea connector.

To control the radio:

  • cable of 5 wires with a diameter of 0.5 mm;
  • blue mini-ISO connector C3 (for Classic or Comfort configuration);

To operate cruise control and speed limiter:

  • cable of 3 wires;
  • connector for connecting wires (radio and cruise control controls) to the snail block.

How to activate the function

:

  1. Run ddt4all. Select a port. Select an adapter. Check the box and click Connect.
  2. In the window that opens, click the button marked with a circle (with a magnifying glass).
  3. Select search by CAN.
  1. Go along the path Clio V => Cluster/TDB => Cluster C1A_CMFB15-40ph2_V2.20 => Configuration => Configuration1 => Language_CF => change to Arabic.
  2. Enable Expert mode (in the menu at the top, second icon from the left).
  3. Save with the “Send” button

Let us remind you that you can also activate cruise control using the Usbdm OSBDM V4.95 programmer. To do this, the instrument panel will need to be removed, disassembled and flashed.

How does cruise control work on Lada Vesta and how to turn it on?

A correctly configured device ensures strict adherence to the selected speed without exceeding and regardless of the weight load the vehicle is experiencing. The system perfectly regulates the position of the throttle valve (limiter), based on the readings of the corresponding indicators. The faster the information reaches the cruise control computer system, the more stable and safe it operates.

On the right side of the Lada Vesta steering wheel there is a multimedia system, and on the opposite side there is a cruise control unit, which contains the following buttons:

  • turning on and off the operation of the entire system;
  • correcting and regulating speed limits;
  • disabling both functions for a while.

There are also buttons here that allow you to return to the last saved presets.

You need to understand that the device accelerates the car rather slowly; if this does not suit you, switch to manual control mode.

The sequence for enabling this function is:

  1. When driving, the power button is pressed and the foot is removed from the gas pedal.
  2. We change the speed that will be displayed on the monitor by pressing the desired adjustment key (+-). The brake will always be a priority when it comes to stopping momentum.
  3. The key that turns on the cruise control function also stops it.

How to use the system?

On the Lada X Ray, cruise control is activated in the same way as on other VAZ models. The control unit is located on the steering wheel. The buttons are located on the left side. The system can be turned on when the speed is above 40 km/h. An emergency function is provided: autospeed is turned off if the brake pedal is pressed.

The buttons perform the following functions:

  • 1, 4 - regulate speed;
  • 2 — temporarily disables the system or enables restrictions;
  • 3 — turns on and off autodrive mode;
  • 5 — return to the last set speed value;
  • 6 - controls the speed limiter.

The Lada Largus device is turned on by performing the following sequence of actions:

  1. Switching on is done by pressing button 3. After this, you need to remove your foot from the gas pedal.
  2. Using the “-” and “+” buttons, we set the desired speed, which is displayed on the monitor under the speedometer. Each press of the button changes the speed by 1 km/h, increasing or decreasing it.
  3. You can use the brake pedal to brake if necessary. In this case, the system will automatically turn off.
  4. You can return the previous settings by pressing the Res button (5). The car gradually accelerates after turning on the cruise control. If you need to accelerate quickly, you need to switch to manual mode.
  5. To turn off autospeed, press button 3.

The system has a pneumatic actuator that controls the throttle valve, so there is no need to step on the gas. A special cable is connected to the throttle valve. When cruise control is activated, it controls the fuel supply by replacing the accelerator pedal. The unit, thanks to information from sensors, maintains the set speed.

Knowing how to operate the system, you can make any train, even the longest one, comfortable.

Algorithm for installing the multi-steering wheel on the Lada Vesta in the Classic configuration


Controlling cruise control from the steering wheel First, you should make sure that the switch under the steering wheel has a connector into which the wires are connected.
In addition, the presence of a gray bundle of wires stretched inside the panel is necessary. To get them, you need to remove the top cover of the steering wheel by unscrewing two bolts. The gray bundle of wires should be in this area. If there is none, installing cruise control on the Lada Vesta will take a little longer. To replace it, you need to buy cruise control dop62, a steering column stalk (switch), which is equipped with wires for the keys, and BLS contacts for the connector. To install multimedia you need: a cable of five half-centimeter wires and a mini-ISO. An additional three-pin cable connects the speed limiter.

  1. We stretch three wires to the electronic control unit through the gap above the pedals and connect them according to the diagram.
  2. Next, we insert the wiring that controls the multimedia there. Mini-ISO must also be installed in the slot. If the Lada Vesta radio is not factory-made, then we make a specific adapter.

Needed or not

You can buy a multifunction steering wheel and install it on your Lada Vesta yourself. This will make your car much more comfortable and convenient. You don't have to reach for the stereo to change the song or adjust the cruise control. The difficult part in installing the multifunction steering wheel is strict adherence to the wiring diagram.

If your Vesta is not “Lux”, but a regular package, and there are no gray wires in it, then the likelihood of mixing up the connection is greater. Therefore, be more careful when connecting the Vesta multifunction steering wheel.

Brief summary

At the end of all manipulations, the owner has the opportunity to use the buttons on the steering wheel to regulate the operation of not only the cruise control system, but also multimedia, as well as the speed limiter. Today, manual cruise control is a fairly promising and rapidly developing development, actively used in many European countries. The device is useful in that, by visually contacting the driver, it creates significant safety conditions that prevent accidents. By combining cruise control with the emergency braking function, developers achieve a greater level of safety on the roads.

Jetter and booster pedal

After installing such a device, the car, as a rule, begins to react differently to the gas pedal, without the characteristic delay. This immediate response creates the illusion of improved dynamics. It is clear that there is no real improvement and cannot be, since the gadget does not change the firmware of the “brains” of the motor. It only slightly changes the operating characteristics of the gas pedal: at the same accelerator position, more fuel is supplied to the engine, which is why it seems that the car drives easier and more dynamically. At the same time, the maximum speed and intensity of acceleration with the pedal pressed to the floor will not increase one iota. The same effect can be achieved without any jetters - just press the pedal harder. Note that such systems do not cause any harm to the engine - however, they do not bring any benefit.

Cruise control and speed limiter on Lada Vesta cars

In some modifications of the comfort and luxury trim levels in Lada Vesta cars, you can encounter such an interesting function as cruise control and a speed limiter; these functions greatly simplify driving the car, and make the ride pleasant and comfortable.
The speed limiter and cruise control control buttons are located on the left side of the car’s steering wheel, the leftmost “+” and “-” buttons set the required speed, both on the cruise control and the limiter, the rightmost buttons directly activate these functions (the top one is cruise control , lower - speed limiter).

The speed limiter allows the driver to choose the speed that he would not like to exceed while driving the car, after installing the limiter, for example, at 60 km/h, no matter how hard the driver presses the accelerator pedal, the car will not exceed the set limit until the limiter will not be disabled. This function is convenient for city driving, where a certain speed limit is set, and violation of it is punishable by a fine.

In order to activate the speed limiter, you need to press the lower right button (on the left side of the steering wheel), after pressing it, the orange speed limiter indicator on the instrument panel will light up, using the “+” and “-” buttons set the required speed, after which the indicator will change color to green, which in turn will mean that the limiter is active. To disable the function, press the lower right button again. The minimum permissible speed for the limiter to operate is 30 km/h.

Cruise control works a little differently than the speed limiter, but it still limits speed. With the help of cruise control, the driver can set the speed he needs, and the car will then maintain it independently without the participation of the driver’s feet.

In order to activate cruise control on the Lada Vesta, you need to press the upper right button (on the left side of the steering wheel), after which the orange cruise control indicator on the dashboard will light up (see photo above), after which you can proceed to setting the required speed using the " +" and "-", adjusting the speed, the cruise control indicator will change color to green. The set speed is displayed on the on-board computer display and will be maintained until the driver takes control of the car. If the driver presses the brake or accelerator pedal while cruise control is operating, the indicator will turn orange again; cruise control can be restored by pressing the “Res” key. The minimum permissible speed for cruise control to work is 40 km/h. Cruise control will be useful on country roads during long journeys.

Features of operation

Those who have driven cars equipped with standard cruisers will most likely not be attracted to such products - they are not very convenient to use and look unrespectable. But if such toys are new to someone, they may well come in handy.

Isn’t it dangerous to drive with these devices if they suddenly fail? After all, we interfered with the standard electrical equipment, breaking some of the car’s control circuits... We checked that when the power from both systems is turned off, the ability to control the car remains. Therefore, the manufacturers of both devices did not violate the old principle of “do no harm.”

The remote control is not backlit - on a dark country road you will have to manipulate it by touch. The indication only works at the moment of operation.

Cruise control is controlled using several buttons located on the left of the steering wheel. Their purpose is as follows:

The algorithm for activating the cruise control function is simple:

  • Press the lower right button, after which the orange indicator on the instrument panel lights up
  • Using the + and – buttons we set the required speed. It can also be fixed using the Set button
  • After these steps, the program is activated and the green icon lights up on the panel
  • The function is turned off when you press the brake pedal or the Can button.

Installed - looked

If you do not have the proper skills to communicate with the electrical equipment of modern cars, it is better not to undertake the installation of such devices yourself. First of all, this applies to the Drivenge system: we spent more than two hours fiddling around. Jet-cruise KH was able to install in half the time.

Drivenge.

Quite a lot of fuss. Drivenge is an extensive system with many connectors that need to be connected in the depths under the front panel. You will have to drill the steering column housing to install the steering column stalk. This control looks somewhat clumsy: you can’t press it - it’s just a place for buttons! And the design is frail: the attachment to plastic cannot be any other way. And the wires in the connectors are rolled loosely - unreliably.

Jet-cruise KH.

Much easier to install. You can place the self-powered remote control on two common batteries in any convenient place - either under your left hand or under your right hand. A drill will only be needed when installing the indicator LED. You don’t have to drill anything at all if you remove the indicator through a suitable slot, which is what we did in the first experiments. It will do for a short time, but, in general, it’s a little undignified to do so.

The device allows you to turn on cruise control both at the current and at the last set speed. Changing settings - using the gas pedal or buttons in increments of 1 km/h. Automatic shutdown - when you press the brake or clutch pedal. The operating range is from 20 to 160 km/h. The “booster pedal” function has three operating modes: “economy”, “dynamics”, “sport”. It is possible to maintain an increased crankshaft speed at idle, for example, to warm up the engine. In the “sport” mode, the pedal seems too sharp, but the “economy” mode was quite pleasant as a winter mode on snowy and slippery roads.

Installing cruise control on a Lada Vesta Classic car

On Vesta cars in the classic configuration, you can install a speed control function. This is done by connecting a multifunction steering wheel, which has the necessary keys to control the program.

This additional equipment is connected in the following way:

  • Before starting work, disconnect the negative wire for safety reasons.
  • Remove the plastic steering wheel cover by screwing in two screws at the bottom and the airbag
  • Disconnect all wires and remove the steering wheel. It is pressed very tightly onto the cone, so it is not easy to remove
  • We put on a new steering wheel and connect the wires back.
  • We pull three cruise control wires through a special hole above the pedals and insert them into the block of the electronic control unit, which is located in the engine compartment
  • We connect the wires according to the diagram:

A set of these parts can be purchased in specialized stores. The estimated price as of August 2022 is 9,000 rubles. If you want cruise control data to be displayed on the dashboard, you need to flash the control unit, which will cost about 2,000 rubles.

Preparation

What is cruise control and how does it work
? In my timid attempt to find out whether the highly respected official dealer would deign to install such a small thing on my car, and for what earthly goods in ruble equivalent, they waved me aside like a midnight ghost.

Thinking that I had become completely lazy after almost four and a half years of owning a foreign car, and that I would soon forget how to hold a screwdriver in my hands, I decided to do everything myself.

The cruise control kit consists of three parts:

— an electronic module that makes the decision to press the gas or release it;

— a vacuum servo drive, which, under the guidance of the mentioned unit, succumbing to the power of the mighty vacuum and atmospheric pressure, pulls the throttle valve;

- and a block of buttons that controls this entire structure.

There is also an inductive speed sensor, which is needed if the car does not transmit a speed signal. And also a bundle of wires connecting it all, and a bunch of all sorts of screws, dowels, pieces of iron and other trinkets necessary for installation.

All this gimmick is supplied with instructions in a bunch of non-Russian languages. Fortunately, my knowledge of English was sufficient.

The electrical connection to the car consists of screwing five wires into the required places:

- constant plus from the battery,

- wire going from the switch to the brake lamps,

— power supply, up to 3 amperes, connected to the ignition,

— mass (minus),

- and the wire to which the speed pulses should be sent.

The first two wires are simply screwed to the wires before and after the brake light switch. If the car has a manual transmission, then a reed switch is added to the break in the wire coming after the switch, which opens the circuit when the clutch pedal is pressed. This wire is always shorted to ground through the brake lamps. If the short to ground disappears, or it is shorted to “plus”, the cruise control will turn off. For cars with diode brake lights, this can be a problem because... diode lamps prevent short-circuiting to the housing (the problem can be solved by installing some load, for example, a small light bulb, in parallel with the diode brake lights). If for any reason the wire breaks, this will also disable the cruise control, which is very good.

The most difficult thing in this whole matter turned out to be choosing places where to install the above three devices. After lying down for a couple of hours in deep thought, armed with a diagram downloaded from the Internet for my self-propelled unit, as well as instructions for disassembling it, I set off to put all this together into a car.

Conclusions. Is it worth installing cruise control?

The appearance of such a function as cruise control in the Russian Lada Vesta car evokes positive emotions among buyers. It makes driving more comfortable and safe, and also allows you to save fuel during long trips.

It is advisable to use this function during long journeys, when the route is relatively clear. In city mode, cruise control is clearly inconvenient and irrelevant. Based on this, we can conclude that those drivers who often travel long distances and want to feel more relaxed during a tiring trip should install this function on their car.

The cruise control function ensures comfortable driving while maintaining a set speed. Thanks to it, it is much easier for the driver to cover long distances, especially on country roads. Foreign manufacturers began equipping their cars with similar systems back in the early 70s, and the domestic auto industry only recently “awaited” the appearance of this technical miracle. On the Lada Vesta, cruise control is installed in the luxury and comfort trim levels, both with an automatic transmission and a manual one. The Luxury package is the top version of Vesta 2022, and accordingly it is equipped noticeably richer than its junior versions, but it can also be equipped with a Multimedia package.
