Car : Lada Priora. Asked by : anonymous. The essence of the question : I choose rear pads, which ones are better?
Hello everyone, PRIOR GUARDS. Nice site, I approve. Now I will change the rear pads and handbrake cable. The previous ones lasted about 50,000 km , which is generally cool for me. I love to rock out and pull the handbrake in the winter.
It’s a pity I didn’t remember which ones I set last time. And if I take them out of the drum, I’ll see what brand it is. And if not, which of the not very expensive ones last a long time and brake well?
Article number and estimated cost for original rear drum pads of Lada Priora
Priora has two types of rear drum brake pads. Consumables with article number 21080-3502090-01 are used on cars without ABS. Their cost ranges from 720 to 900 rubles. The service life of the pads often exceeds 85-90 thousand km.
There is a second type of pads that are used on Priors with ABS. They have a special hole for the wheel speed sensor. Such pads have the article number 11180-3502090-10. The price for consumables starts from 680 rubles.

Lada Priora has a classic division of brake mechanisms - front disc and rear drum. Moreover, the catalog numbers of the brake pads on the Priora are identical to those offered for the second generation Lada Kalina. Here they are:
- front disc brake pads - 11180-3501080-00;
- rear drum brake pads - 21080-3502090-01;
- rear drum brake pads (ABS) - 11180-3502090-10.
The difference between rear drum pads without ABS (anti-lock brake system) and with it is that the latter have special holes for the sensor . In general, the procedure for replacing the rear brake pads is the same for both options, you just need to remove the ABS sensor (one screw) and do not forget about the master disc during reassembly.
Another rather important point is that Lada Priora owners often buy analogue brake pads, rather than the original, which loses in the price/quality competition. To replace the original, it is most often recommended to use TRW, Ate or Ferodo pads, but at the same time, products from Pilenga and BM are more popular on Priora.

If we talk about reviews of brake pads for Priora, then it is worth noting the following points.
Ferodo brake pads are divided into “red” and “green” (according to the color of the packaging), they have different reviews. Ferodo Premier (“red”) are considered the best - they are stiffer, and the manufacturer positions them as comfort class pads. Ferodo Target (“green”) - softer, brakes worse, but is more gentle on the brake disc; they are a slightly improved version of the original pads.
Ate brake pads, and not only on Priora, are often spoken about in a positive way. As the owners note, they may creak at first, but then they grind in and brake perfectly when paired with the original brake disc.
Drum brake pads without ABS (left) and with ABS (right) using Trialli as an example
The pads from Asian (China and Korea) companies BM and Pilenga are good enough to buy them instead of the original ones. But the only advantage that stands out is their low cost. For other positive qualities, they turn to more famous manufacturers, such as Brembo, Hankook Frixa or the previously mentioned Ate, TRW, Ferodo .

To summarize, we can say that many drivers are dissatisfied with the quality of the original TIIR pads and are trying to replace them with a better analogue. These are the pads Ate, Ferodo, TRW, Bosh and others. If you need to save money, take BM or Pilenga products.
On average, rear brake pads last 30,000 km longer than the front ones. But since the driving style and the material of the friction linings can be different, there is no exact replacement frequency, only an approximate one: 30-50 thousand km for the front pads and 60-90 thousand km for the rear pads.

Brake pads for VAZ (Lada) Priora
for repair of VAZ (Lada) Priora
I decided to purchase brake pads to replace them on my Lada Priora. I bought Trialli PF965 front pads, since previously they were from TIIR. The problems began after the first 100 km, the pads began to creak unbearably from a light touch, and this was true even when the pads were cold, and what can we say about the hot pads? In general, I drove with an unbearable howl, even with repeated lubrication of the calipers and guides, the situation did not improve.
I am dissatisfied, now I regret that I bought them, I will look for something else. But they are quite suitable for a measured driving style.
I installed Trialli front pads on the Priora (after replacing the brake discs and the entire suspension). When driving not fast, they brake well, but the whistle from these pads is simply not real, you can probably hear it within a radius of 2 km. I drove 300 km on them and I don’t know how much longer I’ll have the nerves to listen to them, most likely I’ll change them in the near future! It was a waste of money to give away (albeit not much).
They burned out after 5000 km, they don’t brake at a speed of 120 km/h, they overheat, the rims are black and burnt out.
The other day I noticed that when braking, I felt a beating and a terrible squeaking sound on the brake pedal. I decided to check everything. The front pads were installed on Pilenga and had about 50% wear for almost a year, but they didn’t creak before. I had to change it.
I removed the factory TIIR and threw it away, since it doesn’t know how to brake at all. I installed STS twice, and then Moscow stopped doing something about them - I installed ATE - very pleased. Now current ATE.
I changed the front brake pads, which were installed from the factory at 85,000 km. In principle, I’m happy with the pads, so I decided not to experiment and took them - after replacing them, when braking, the sound was like that of a UAZ, now it’s better, but there is still a whistle when braking at low speeds.
I like TRW pads most of all, they don't creak.
After 150 km/h and above, when I brake, I have complete confidence that the brakes are holding and there is no overheating.
The pads I bought. Also rear drum pads. Doesn't creak.
With TIIRs I haven’t heard a sound yet; the braking is more adequate.

When the Byda Priora with abs back only installed the factory ones, but now the Lada-Sport pads in front are factory, everything slows down, nothing creaks. I also installed Nippon, Ferodo, Ferodo, I remember it was terribly warm with them, they were too hard apparently.
I installed the standard ones. They squeak like an old UAZ, they eat up the disc, but they brake well.
