Properties of the coating of the new Lada

Xray painting is carried out in compliance with the latest world standards and rules for its implementation. Thanks to this, the competitiveness of the new Russian car increases significantly and takes AvtoVAZ to a new level. The thickness of the coating applied to X-Ray will range between 75 and 106 microns. This indicator once again emphasizes the high quality of new Russian products.

AvtoVAZ carried out serious work to select the technology for applying paint to the Lada X-Ray and preparing the body for its application. The task was complicated by Russian climatic conditions, which make specific adjustments to all processes of creating a car. Before painting, Xray goes through the following preparatory steps:

• the metal on which the paint is applied is subject to mandatory galvanization;
• Galvanized metal is carefully treated with wax.

Red “Fire”
When painting, high quality enamel is used, resistant to low and contrasting temperatures. The type of coating is selected as carefully as possible for Russian climatic conditions.

Thanks to improved galvanizing, painting and welding technologies, Lada company management suggests that the service life of the car without additional treatments can extend up to 12 years. Anti-corrosion galvanizing coating can be applied to a car in several ways. The first is thermal, the second is hot method. Moreover, the galvanized alloy, in the first case, covers the car body even at the moment when it is on the production line.

In the hot-dip galvanizing option, galvanizing of individual parts is used. The metal parts of the car are lowered into a special bath with a zinc solution. It is there that, under the influence of electrodes, zinc particles are layered onto the metal. There is also a third method, in which only small parts of the body are processed.

Equipment and range of installed engines

In addition to the body, both domestic cars also differ in the range of installed engines. The standard LADA X-RAY is equipped with 3 engine options. Each motor was developed based on previous modifications, but with individual layout and tuning.

Several basic engines for LADA X-RAY should be highlighted:

• 1.6 liters - 106 l/s - manual; • 1.6 liters - 106 l/s - robotic gearbox; • 1.8 liters - 122 l/s - automatic (robot).

Accordingly, LADA X-RAY Cross is equipped with all the listed engines, but with modified software settings.
