Alarm Tomahawk 9030: key fob operating instructions

The Tomahawk TW 9030 alarm kit includes two remote controls.

  1. The main module is equipped with 5 keys and a liquid crystal display.
  2. The spare key fob Tomahawk 9030 is equipped with 4 controls and an indicator diode.

Both transmitters are fully functional and allow you to use all security system options.

Don't forget that there is also a Tomahawk TZ 9030 alarm system.

What the Tomahawk TW 9030 keychain looks like: photo

The supplied pagers differ slightly. This is due to the reduction in cost of all signaling.

  1. The main remote control is a rectangular block in a plastic case with a protruding antenna compartment. On the top wall there are three function keys responsible for the main options. On the front there is a screen and two more buttons for additional control.
  2. The replacement element looks simpler. There is an oval plastic case with an eyelet for a key ring. There are 4 function keys at the front. The “F” element is missing, which does not allow entering the programming menu from an additional transmitter.

What errors can occur when registering alarm key fobs?

If you cannot enter the programming mode, although the procedure exactly corresponds to that required for a particular model, you need to check:

  1. Does the Override button work? See if its connector is torn out from the central unit, if the wire is broken, if its contacts close when pressed.
  2. Is the ignition wire connected to the central unit? On alarm systems with auto-start, you are unlikely to encounter this problem, because otherwise the auto-start will not work.

But on one-way alarm systems, handicraft installers sometimes leave the ignition input on the central unit unconnected. Either the twist oxidizes and the wire breaks off. The easiest way to check the supply of “plus” is with an LED probe on the connector of the central unit.

If the Override button does not always work (dirty, worn contacts), then perhaps you should simply try to log in again, pressing the button less often, but harder.

Functions

The basic key fob options are presented sparingly. However, the first element contains a set of required indications:

  • display of the current alarm position;
  • screen backlight;
  • vibration alert;
  • integrated clock, timer and alarm;
  • key lock;
  • battery saving.

Most of the functions are not available on the auxiliary device. However, this does not prevent you from fully using the system.

Keychain Tomahawk 9030: instructions for use

The factory booklet is supplied complete with the security system. But when buying a car with an already installed alarm system, 90% of the instructions do not reach the end consumer.

The user manual contains comprehensive information:

  • sequence of installation of head units;
  • how to use remote controls;
  • capabilities and their activation;
  • what to do in case of breakdown.

You can view the instructions by following the link.

We also have Tomahawk 9030 autostart instructions.

Why is the remote control not programmable?

There comes a time when the car alarm stops working correctly: the car is neither armed nor disarmed. The remote control does not transmit the code over the communication channel well and, accordingly, does not perform various actions. Attempts to connect the key fob to the TZ 9030 alarm system lead to nothing. Below is the procedure if the remote control is not registered.

  1. Find the instructions for the model of security system installed on the car.
  2. Carefully study the procedure for programming remote controls. Follow all steps described in the instruction manual again.
  3. If you haven’t found the documentation, look for information on the Internet. There are many videos from which you can find instructions for activating the Tomahawk 9030 key fob.
  4. Understand the reasons. Perhaps the system does not send or receive signals due to mechanical damage. Carefully examine all components of the security system. Take the time to check the contacts on the transceiver and control module connectors. Test the electrical circuits with a tester. Replace damaged wires with new ones. Clean off any oxides on the contacts.
  5. Nothing works. Diagnose the control module. It may need to be re-flashed. This work should be entrusted to specialists.

Icons on the Tomahawk 9030 key fob: symbols on the display

The head pager display panel provides the user with information about the system status in the form of icons. This is done due to the size of the display - full inscriptions will not fit here.

The operating instructions contain the necessary tables, where the inscriptions on the remote control screen and the indication of the spare key fob diode are fully deciphered.

PASS lights up on the remote control

The Pass icon indicates that the shock sensor warning zone is disabled. The function is activated when the car is locked with a passenger inside or near a road with heavy traffic.

You can disable the warning by double-clicking the “Zz” button. Doing this again will completely turn off the shock sensor. To restart the option, the steps are performed in the same way.

2 1 daily Tomahawk 9030: how to disable

When the hourly engine start mode is activated, the corresponding message appears on the display. Depending on the pre-programming, the engine will start every 1, 2, 4 or 24 hours.

The 2-1 daily mode is activated by simple manipulation:

  • hold down the "key" key;
  • the system will emit the corresponding chirp;
  • quickly click on Zz;
  • If everything is done correctly, the diode on the antenna will blink twice.

You can disable the extension in a similar sequence.

Hijack icon is on

Some users do not know what the “anti-hijack” icon that appears on the head key display means. The Anti Hijack function in the Tomahawk TV 9030 alarm system is used to return a car in the event of a violent theft.

There are two ways to activate the anti-grabber.

  1. While in the car, press OVERRIDE once and leave the car. To turn off the specified element is pressed three times.
  2. On the remote control, press “Zz” and the key at the same time. The dimensions should blink. Switching off is done by pressing the button with a key pattern once.

The designation can also be turned off by entering a personal code on the alarm panel.

2-3 Auto Immo

The Tomahawk TW 9030 model has a built-in immobilizer. The module blocks the engine when attempting to steal a car. Indication 2-3 auto immo indicates that the mode is enabled.

Activation is performed by a sequential key combination, and reset can be done by holding down the button with the key pattern. The LED on the head antenna should go out.

1 2 temp start Tomahawk 9030: how to disable

The user manual contains information about automatic warming up of the power plant, which is necessary on first responder vehicles or in winter. If the response temperature is set correctly, the motor does not freeze.

If the icon on the screen is redundant (the option is not needed), you can remove it. You can turn off the 1-2 tempo start function from any remote control:

  • hold Zz until the key fob beeps or a green beacon appears;
  • quickly press the key.

5 KEY LOCK icon

The inscription 5 key lock appears when the remote control is locked from accidental key presses. This is required when carrying the device in a pocket, where there is a risk of unintentionally disarming the car.

Disabling the protection is performed by a simple manipulation - simultaneously pressing the open lock/key + “F”. If everything is done correctly, the key fob will squeak.

How to remove 1-1 ZZZ

Sleep mode or VALET is activated when the car is left at a service station where there is no risk of theft. This way, access to the vehicle components is gained and technicians can work in peace. At the same time, the inscription “1 1 zzz” lights up on the display.

Working with the option is performed with one key:

  • when the signaling is turned off, press Zz until a squeak is heard from the key fob;
  • click on the specified button again;
  • If everything is done correctly, the car will blink its dimensions 4 times.

The option is disabled in a similar sequence. Or by holding OVERRIDE for 3 seconds.

Indication 2-4 Auto Arm

The automatic arming mode is accompanied by the 2 4 auto arm icon and is required to activate the Tomahawk TW 9030 without driver intervention. This is necessary if the owner forgot to turn everything on himself and left the car open.

You can turn the option on/off using a simple procedure:

  • press the key in until a sound or green light appears from the key fob diode;
  • quickly click on the key with the speaker crossed out.

Additionally, you can program the locking of doors and trunk lid.

Setting instructions

  1. To program the key fob, turn off the ignition.
  2. Press the Override key seven times.
  3. Turn on the ignition and wait until the siren sounds seven times. This is confirmation of entering programming mode.
  4. Release Override.
  5. Simultaneously press and hold the “Open Doors” and “Close Doors” buttons until the siren sounds. This confirms the successful recording of the new Tomahawk TZ 9030 alarm pager. Memorization of other key fobs is confirmed by a certain number of siren sounds.
  6. Turn off the ignition. After six seconds have elapsed, the system will automatically exit setup mode.

You can manually register up to four remote controls in the alarm memory. This process is carried out only when the security mode is turned off. New key fobs are registered in memory after the old data is deleted.

Button combinations

The factory instructions contain information about 19 possible combinations on key fobs. However, there are keyboard shortcuts that drivers use most often:

  • hold the key for 2 seconds + open the cargo compartment – immobilizer;
  • key + siren – automatic activation of security;
  • double click on Zz – work with shock sensors;
  • quick click on “Zz” – activate full car protection;
  • The key is to turn off the alarm.

More detailed information can be found in the factory instructions.

Shock sensor control

Setting up the shock sensor

If the car reacts too sensitively to passing cars, rumbles of thunder, or, on the contrary, reacts only to strong impacts, then it is necessary to adjust the impact sensor. There are screws on the sensor, tightening them clockwise increases sensitivity, counterclockwise decreases it. Having adjusted the sensor, we close the car, put it under guard and try to lightly hit the body. If the sensitivity is too high or low, open the car again and tighten the screws, adjusting the alarm to the desired value.

Disabling the shock sensor

After activating the security mode, press button No. 5 “Lock” on the key fob twice within a second. This will turn off the shock sensor warning zone. Pressing the same button again twice will turn off the main shock sensor zone. The same procedure turns on the shock sensor.

REFERENCE: This mode may be needed if there are passengers in a car parked on the side of a busy roadway and armed.

How to block buttons

Locking the key fob controls is a necessary option to prevent unintentional manipulation of the alarm. Typically, this function is needed when carrying keys in your pocket.

You can activate the protection by simultaneously holding down the keys with the key pattern and F. To unlock the key fob, the steps are performed in the same way. If everything is done correctly, the pager beeps once and the module can be used.

The principle of registering key fobs

Key fob programming is necessary in alarms without a dialogue code to synchronize the “floating” code. In such systems, to control the central unit, only one code message is used, encrypted using a constant algorithm, but with a key changing according to a certain law. Therefore, you have to write down the key fob both when you buy a new one, which is not initially synchronized with the alarm system, and when the regular ones have problems with communication. It is not for nothing that the operating instructions usually warn that you cannot repeatedly press the key fob buttons outside the communication zone with the car - the encryption key “goes” further according to a given algorithm, although from the point of view of the central unit it should not yet change. This explanation is quite schematic, but it makes it clear the principle of communication in such systems and the loss of control, which is easily corrected by re-registering a set of key fobs.

We especially note that an attempt to bind the Tomahawk key fob (and other alarm systems) one by one will lead to the fact that the remaining key fobs will no longer be perceived by the alarm system. The fact is that at the beginning of the programming procedure, for security reasons, the data on previously registered key fobs is erased; this does not make it possible to “additionally register” an additional key fob in secret from the owner, without having access to the standard ones. And therefore, all alarms have a Valet mode, which allows you to give the car for service without the need to transfer key fobs.

Compatibility

The interchangeability of Tomahawk TW 9030 car alarm key fobs is complete exclusively with models of the same brand:

  • TZ 7010;
  • TZ 9020.

Device remote controls can work properly with the specified security systems, without the need to replace the main modules.

Analogues from third-party manufacturers should be used with caution. Otherwise, the purchased pager may not work correctly or may not transmit a signal at all.

How to turn off a car using the Tomahawk 9030 key fob

The manual contains information about remote starting and stopping the power plant.

You can enable the mode like this:

  • hold down the element with the key shown;
  • there will be a trill from the key fob;
  • quickly click on the indicated key.

The indicator on the antenna will light up. The extension is disabled using a similar sequence of actions.

How to turn off the alarm

Standard alarm disabling

To disable the security mode, you need to press button No. 4 “Key” on the remote control. The doors will then unlock, the lights will flash twice, and the alarm will emit two short trills. The optional courtesy interior lighting will turn on.

IMPORTANT: If, when you try to disable the security mode, the alarm makes three short trills, and the key fob makes one long beep, it means that some kind of sensor has been triggered.

Disabling the alarm in emergency mode

If the alarm is in alarm mode (a siren sounds, the lights flash), then to disable the security mode you need to take the remote control key fob and press button No. 4 “Key” twice: the first press will disable the alarm mode, the second - the security mode.

Emergency alarm shutdown

If the remote control key is broken or lost, you can turn off the alarm using the Override button. Here's how it's done:

  • Open the car door and turn on the ignition.
  • Press the Override button three times.
  • Turn off the ignition (the lights flash twice, the alarm emits two short trills). The alarm is immediately deactivated.

REFERENCE: If the car owner has protected the system with a personal PIN code, then he will be able to turn off the alarm in an emergency only after entering this code.

Tomahawk 9030 does not respond to the key fob and does not open

If the signaling system does not see the key fob, the reasons may be superficial:

  • batteries or battery are dead;
  • The transmitter antenna does not work;
  • mechanical damage to the device;
  • water ingress.

To eliminate problems, you need to change the batteries and diagnose the equipment for breakdowns.

Possible problems and their solutions

If the security system does not respond to pressing the remote control buttons, it is recommended to check the condition of the battery. After replacing the battery, the key fob is configured (in accordance with the recommendations set out in the instructions for use). If the receiver and transmitter are out of sync, you must re-flash the control panel. Then the owner sets up the key fob and checks the functionality of the complex.

If the key fob is not registered according to the standard algorithm, then you must simultaneously press the keys on the transmitter marked with the icon of a crossed out loudspeaker and with the silhouette of a car with an open luggage compartment. At the same time, the owner presses the setting key with the other hand. If the procedure is correct, the machine will sound the siren five times. The driver releases all pressed buttons. Then a complex action is made on the buttons on the remote control (with the speaker symbol and the silhouette of the car), which allows you to record the device code in the alarm system.

If it is not possible to register the key fob, then a visual inspection of the alarm components and switching harnesses is carried out for the presence of mechanical damage. The integrity of the cables is checked with a test device. Dirty contacts are cleaned with a special solution.

What can break in an additional remote control?

There is essentially nothing to break in the spare key fob. However, users highlight some problems:

  • The battery runs out quickly;
  • the flimsy body cracks when pressed;
  • Buttons may stick.

If a fault is found in the circuit or antenna, repair is not cost-effective - it is cheaper to buy a new transmitter.

How to distinguish Tomahawk 9030 and 9010 key fob: difference

External differences between the Tomahawk TW 9030 and 9010 remote controls are almost invisible. Both models have an LCD display and an equal number of keys. Their location is also similar.

The only difference is the area of responsibility of the buttons, as indicated by their markings.

Everything is more complicated inside. Differing schemes guarantee a complete lack of compatibility between devices.
