Lada Vesta SV Cross 2022 model year is a popular cross-station wagon on the Russian market. Body and interior

The cross-wagon looks most beautiful in its signature orange color “Mars”, which makes it stand out against the background of gray and nondescript cars on the streets of our cities. The car itself looks very harmonious. There are seven exterior paint colors to choose from.

The interior is not much different from the “non-cross” version, and the most noticeable difference is the orange inserts on the panels and seats, which looks a little tacky, but you can order a modification in gray. The same applies to the instrument panel; it is not very readable due to the edging of the scales. The trunk has a volume of 480 liters, and therefore leaves many crossovers behind. The floor here has three levels. Rigid shelves hide a 95-liter compartment underneath, which serves as an organizer, and underneath there is a spare wheel niche, where there is another organizer.

Review

The station wagon has an updated design of the front and rear parts of the body, while maintaining the signature X-style.

The new product received full LED optics (headlights, fog lights, taillights), a front bumper with a more developed relief, an arc integrated into the front bumper that extends from the headlight housing and is separated by a silver molding, two decorative exhaust pipes and a new trunk lid with two stampings in the vertical part.

The false radiator grille has a coarse-mesh pattern that matches the off-road nature of the car. The Lada logo has also been enlarged.

The overall dimensions of the station wagon are as follows: length - 4445 mm (+21 mm compared to the previous model), width - 1785 mm, height - 1522 mm for the body, 1532 mm for the roof rails, 1548 mm for the antenna.

In terms of its dimensions, the car is slightly larger than its usual “non-cross brother”, but at the same time, they are almost the same. The body dimensions are 4424/1785/1537, which are length, width and height respectively. The gas tank here is 55 liters, and the trunk is 385. The ground clearance is 203 mm, which not every crossover has.

The spaciousness of the cabin, despite the fact that it is a B-class, is quite good. Five adult passengers can easily fit here. True, the second row will be a little cramped and if you need to drive long distances, it is better to stop periodically to warm up a little.

Advantages and disadvantages

Crossover ground clearance of 203 mm, good handling and cross-country ability, good dynamics, three-level trunk with a capacity of 480 liters, quite favorable consumption in the combined cycle - 7.3 liters. Beautiful design that makes the car stand out in the crowd. All these advantages are characteristic of the domestic model.

The disadvantages include an instrument panel with orange scales and the inability to drive off-road when the wheels are hung diagonally. A slightly whining transmission (“mechanical” and “robot”) spoils the mood, but this can be cured by changing the oil in the transmission. There are no such problems with the variator.

Operation in the city and off-road

The car performs well when driving on city streets, and its crossover ground clearance will prevent you from getting stuck when leaving a snowy yard. It starts easily and pulls right away from low revs. The dynamics are quite sufficient when driving in the city and on the highway, with any engines and transmissions. Especially with the “robot”, which at the beginning of sales did not show its best side, but VAZ later “finished” it.

Since it is positioned as an all-terrain station wagon, its off-road characteristics should be at a decent level. But when hung diagonally, the wheels will no longer be able to rotate; the car really lacks a full-fledged self-block, which completely cuts off the possibility of driving off-road.

Salon

The interior of the car has not been declassified. But it is known that the new Vesta will have a completely new interior - they will use a completely different front panel and door cards, a large tablet display of the media system and a digital dashboard will appear.

Safety

Lada Vesta SW Cross 2022 passed the ARCAP crash test conducted by the Russian automotive publication Autoreview and received 14.3 points out of 16 possible and 4 stars out of 4 for a frontal impact at a speed of 64 km/h. The Lada Vesta sedan took part in the test, which has exactly the same power structure of the body, so the test results will be relevant for the cross-station wagon.

Autoreview specialists came to the conclusion that Vesta is one of the safest cars in its class. True, the situation is somewhat overshadowed by another crash test conducted by autoblogger Konstantin Zarutsky, who similarly crashed the West sedan into a lamppost with a side impact. The result was disastrous. The lack of reinforcement in the doors had an effect, because of which the car turned out to be “wound” on a pole in the most literal sense. The speed at which the tested car crashed was only 57 kilometers per hour, which is close to the real situation on the road.
