Starline A62 car security systems have the following properties:

The transmission of impulses between the electronic module and the communicator occurs via a radio communication channel. The frequency ranges from 433.05 to 434.79 MHz.
To control the anti-theft complex, 128 frequency channels are used.
The largest operating range of the communicator when operating in command sending mode is up to 800 meters.
The maximum operating radius of the pager in pulse reception mode is up to two kilometers.
The maximum operating range of a spare pager is no more than fifteen meters.
The type of sensitivity controller of the security system belongs to the piezoelectric category.
The temperature range at which the alarm optimally performs its functions is from -40 to +85 degrees. If the temperature threshold is higher or lower, this will affect the operation of the electronic unit.
An on-board network is required to power the car alarm. The voltage in it should be from 9 to 18 volts. The best option would be to install alarms on cars, SUVs and minibuses with a 12-volt network. If necessary, you can install an alarm system on motorcycle equipment. But then some elements of Starline A62 will have to be redone.
When operating in protection mode, the car alarm consumes no more than 25 mA of current.
At the output of the power line through which the siren is connected, the maximum current value will be 2 amperes.
At the output of the electrical circuits through which optical devices are connected, the maximum current parameter will be equal to 7.5 amperes for each light device.
At the outputs of the electrical control lines for blocking the power unit, as well as the control circuit for the drives of the locking devices, the current parameter will be no more than 15 amperes.
A single AAA power supply is used to power the main communicator equipped with a display. The battery is rated at 1.5 volts.
The spare pager is powered by one CR2450 battery. This battery is rated at 3 volts.

The range of the communicators given above is calculated ideally; in fact, it may be less due to the architecture of the area, weather conditions and interference.

Convenient, good alarm system. It rarely works without a reason. In 4 years of use I have only changed the button on the key fob once, and it works great.	Installed on a Ford Focus in 2012. At first it worked well, but after about a year it started to malfunction. I went to the service center where they installed it for me. The guys reconfigured it, but it doesn’t work as clearly as before. The range of action has decreased and does not work the first time. I will say this: the signal is not bad, but short-lived.
Inexpensive and reliable alarm. There are all the functions for a budget car: LCD display, shock sensor, feedback. Quite enough for my Fifteen. The screen clearly shows whether the car is closed or not, and what exactly is open: the doors, trunk or hood. There is a function to block the engine in case of theft. I think that with such protection you can sleep peacefully.	Not the best option that is offered on the market. The functions are quite weak. Everything you need, for example, a GPS module, must be purchased separately. There is also no auto start, which is extremely inconvenient in winter. I got this alarm along with the car I bought. I'm using it for now, but I'm thinking of changing it soon.

I have had an a64 2can slave car alarm for 3 years now. There have been no glitches the whole time, nothing to complain about. I didn’t find any disadvantages, only advantages: reliability, high-quality communication (the response is always the first time), a large radius of operation of the key fob.

Reviews of Starline A66

Definitely not worth the money. The usual two-way alarm system, nothing interesting. To enable at least autostart, you need to buy a special module, which is expensive. Why do this if you can buy it already with all the necessary functions and much cheaper.

The alarm has a dialogue code, which, according to the manufacturer, provides 100% protection against theft. I've had my Passat for over a year. It works great, the car hasn't been stolen yet. The controls are convenient, I especially like the large button on the remote control. The key fob itself is not very miniature, but it is comfortable in the hand, and it does not consume batteries as much as my previous alarm.

Not the most successful of Starline products. By paying a little extra, you can get the same A96 with a more advanced security system, a motion sensor and auto start. I can’t say that it works poorly, it’s just that the price does not correspond to the quality and functionality.

Works steadily. Very good reception radius, works even through several thick walls. We connected via CAN bus, the whole process took no more than 4 hours.	The price of the signal is clearly overpriced. Despite the fact that the kit does not include a GPS module with an antenna, you have to buy it separately. There are only 2 relays in the box, although this is clearly not enough for connection via the CAN bus. The instructions are written rather vaguely, there is no clear installation guide for CAN. It seems that manufacturers deliberately confuse people so that they contact their service center for installation.
Efficient and functional alarm system. Starline has never let me down yet. There were some problems, but this was due to a slightly “crooked” installation. Some functions were written incorrectly. It’s good that there are many service centers, I went to the nearest one and set everything up for a small amount.	Recently installed A66 on a 2014 Mazda. Among the shortcomings, I would like to note the inconvenient, large key fob and the rapid drainage of the battery when the alarm is working. I also don’t like some of the confusion in the controls; the old system was much simpler. Honestly, I expected better from Starline.

Self-connection of a security system to a car

To install a car alarm with your own hands, you need to have some experience in working with electrical circuits and strictly follow the manufacturer's recommendations. The standard instructions for car alarms Starline A64, A62 and A66 contain a detailed diagram of the installation and connection of all elements of the system.

Installation manual for Starline A62:

The ignition and all electrical devices in the car are turned off. It is necessary to de-energize the on-board network; to do this, disconnect the terminal with the negative contact from the battery.
A microprocessor is installed inside the vehicle. To install the unit, you should choose a place that is maximally protected from external influences, moisture and elevated temperatures. The module is installed on a flat surface, preferably behind the instrument panel, this will ensure a minimum length of wires for connection. Plastic clamps or self-tapping screws are used for fixation. To protect the microprocessor module from moisture and vibration during driving, the device can be additionally wrapped in cellophane and foam rubber.
A siren is installed under the hood of the car if one is to be used. The use of this device is not necessary, since alarm signals can be organized using the steering horn. If an autonomous siren is used, then during installation it is necessary to ensure free access to the keyhole installed in it.
A transceiver with a built-in antenna is placed on the car window. The glass surface is first cleaned and degreased, which will ensure high-quality contact. There should be no electronic devices or metal parts of the body within 5 cm of the transceiver. Their presence will cause interference and reduce the range of the key fob.
The shock and sensitivity sensor is installed in the car interior, preferably in the central part of the body. For installation, you can choose a metal partition separating the engine compartment. The device is fixed on a flat surface using plastic clamps, screws or glue. The use of plastic or rubber gaskets is not allowed; this will lead to incorrect operation of the sensor and its premature operation.
Limit switches are installed on the hood, trunk and doors. Installation of devices is not permitted in drains. The wiring from the sensors is routed to the microprocessor module.
The button to enter the service mode is located inside the car. It is recommended to hide it, but in such a way that the consumer has access to the device from the driver’s seat.

Autostart faults

If the Starline A91 autostart does not work, make sure that:

On cars with a manual transmission, the “soft neutral” procedure was performed, and the car was not disarmed after that (disarming disables the autostart reservation). The handbrake indicator must be lit.
There is no indication on the key fob screen that the door or hood is open (not closed enough or the limit switch is faulty). Check and correct the problem.
While near the car, try performing a forced auto start. If the command is not processed at all (the ignition does not turn on), check the connection of the autostart power relays and the condition of the fuses. If the ignition is turned on, the starter operates, but starting does not occur, check the functionality of the immobilizer bypass. If the engine catches, but the alarm turns off the ignition after that, this means that it does not recognize the fact of starting (it does not receive a tacho signal if it is configured for it, or there is no transition in the signal level from the generator when configured to “lamp” - depends on the specific connection and requires inspection by an auto electrician).
