The muffler is stretched along the entire length of the car body and is removed from under the rear to get rid of exhaust gases. The main task of any muffler is to reduce noise levels and convert sound waves into heat waves. That is, without an exhaust system, a car cannot operate in principle. With mufflers for VAZ 2108/2109 cars, the situation is quite complicated: we can say that the pipe for exhaust gases is the most “sore” point of these models. Therefore, the owner must prepare in advance for the fact that sooner or later he will have to deal with malfunctions of the silencer and independently replace this part of the car.

So I cooked the resonator.
And he is such a bitch and still dies. No wonder there is a saying “The miser pays twice”... I had to pay for welding, and now also buy a new one... Whatever one may say, if it started to rot, then welding will not help. So it was in my case: the pipe from the resonator to the muffler rotted (welded it back), the can itself began to rot from below (welded a patch). Then after installation, when I looked at the lift, it turned out that the pipe from the resonator to the muffler had burst. It burst at the opening (where it is connected by a clamp to the silencer pipe). I thought and thought about what to do with her. While I was thinking, the partitions in the resonator fell down))) Well, his time has come, and the fool already understands. This is taking into account the fact that when removing it for the first time for welding, a rotten tube (which was in a hole) was pulled out of the resonator.
So. Let's move on to practice. I wanted to buy a resonator and an insert instead of a catalyst. I don’t need a catalyst at all, it’s just extra crap that I stick with everywhere...
I went to the store and bought a resonator for 900 rubles with an extended pipe for my pants. Those. We remove the catalyst and resonator, and put a new resonator in their place. In general, it’s beautiful, there will be fewer joints in the exhaust.
