The reason that error 0363 appears on the VAZ 2114 is the so-called misfire. It is the absence of an electric spark at the spark plug of one of the cylinders, as a result of which only three cylinders are involved in the operation of the engine.
The term “tripleting” of an engine precisely refers to the fact that the engine runs on only three of the four cylinders. Despite the fact that cars are now produced with a large number of cylinders, this concept continues to be used steadily.
Externally, tripping looks like a large loss of power, sharp jerking of the car and strong exhaust sounds. In most cases, the car will not even be able to move. This phenomenon can occur either periodically or constantly.
The reasons may be:
- lack of spark on the cylinder spark plug;
- poor quality fuel-air mixture;
- damage (burnout) of the gasket;
- damage to the cylinder itself.
We will consider the first of these reasons (misfire) below.
Errors p0363 and p1304
You can detect these errors if you use a self-diagnostic adapter. Each of them has its own decoding and provides the car owner with certain information about the breakdown that occurred in the car. So, the number 0363 (error code) on 2114 indicates that misfire occurred in one of the engine cylinders and the supply of the fuel mixture to it was stopped.
In most modern cars, an electronic control system automatically stops the flow of fuel to the cylinder if any problems occur in it.
The next error - 1301...1304 indicates that in a specific cylinder (the number of which is equal to the last digit in the error number) there were ignition delays, which are critical for the converter.
Often these errors are accompanied by errors of type 0300 - exceeding the threshold of danger (toxicity) of the exhaust as a result of misfire.

Troubleshooting
If during diagnostics an error 0363 of a VAZ 2114 is noticed, then the reasons for this may be the following:
- Poor quality fuel.
- Air intake leaking.
- No spark.
- Damage or wear to the cylinders.
The first of these problems is quite simple to solve - you should try to refuel with gasoline from other manufacturers, and not the one that is currently used. Despite its apparent simplicity, this method very often helps - after all, as statistics show, more than half of the cases of error 0363 are associated with low-quality fuel.
If an error occurs very often and, as a result, leads to the shutdown of one of the cylinders (but the engine itself and related units are fully operational), you can reflash the engine control unit, removing information about this error from it.
If replacing the fuel does not help and the troubles continue, you should check the air intake system. It is necessary to tighten all fastening clamps, replace the air filter if it is worn out, and also measure the pressure in the ramp (normally it does not exceed 2.8 atmospheres).
The next step in troubleshooting will be diagnosing the ignition system.
So, you will need to check:
- the condition of the armored wire connecting to the faulty cylinder;
- condition of the spark plug of a faulty cylinder;
- presence of oxides at connection points.
In order to check the condition of high-voltage wires, you need to measure their resistance with a tester. Normally it should not be more than 10 kOhm. If the measurements show greater resistance, then the wires are faulty and should be replaced (this should be done even if a regular “continuity test” shows the presence of a working circuit).
If the wires are in good condition, then you should check the spark plugs, or better yet, replace them with new ones, especially if the ones already installed belong to the “budget” price segment (as you know, all four spark plugs should be replaced at once, and not just one faulty one).

First malfunction. Errors 0363 and 1303 — Lada 2115, 1.6 l., 2010 on DRIVE2
Hi all. I never expected the unpleasant entry to appear so soon. Returning from vacation, I decided to go on business. I get into the car, start it, and the engine barely spins up, vibrates a lot, and stalls (video below). I was scared, the first thing I thought about was the valve. But as the engine warms up, it starts to run smoothly. But it jerks when moving under tension, or during rapid acceleration.
I didn’t notice right away, but the on-board computer that I purchased less than a month ago immediately beeped, indicating that there was a system error. I got 2 errors:
0363 - Misfires detected, fuel supply is turned off in idle cylinders 1303 - Cylinder 3, misfires detected, critical for the converter
So I was lucky to buy it. A couple of days later the Check Engine blinked and 2 more errors were added:
0300 and 0303 - Checking for misfires that affect toxicity. The number of misfires is greater than the threshold value
Naturally, I decided to look at the candles. I unscrewed it, it seemed normal, not dirty. Everything is warm, which means they are working. The wires are also probably to blame. The car is almost new, 19 thousand miles in total. It could be gasoline, but I still spent 10 liters on the same tank, everything was fine. After surfing the Internet, I read a lot of different things, including about burnt valves. For example, Alighieri, who faced the same problem, advises to act in this order: 1. Candles2. Wires3. Valves4. Ignition module.
In order not to waste money on spare parts that could work normally, I went to the service center. In general, I arrived, they wanted to connect their computer to see the errors, I said that it was not necessary. My computer already shows everything. They took my word for it.
We poked around, tried wires, spark plugs. It turned out that it was still candles.
They said that the Brisk candles coming from the factory are worthless. God willing, they will travel 5 thousand km. We recommended NGK No. 13. They also asked what kind of gasoline I use. I say 95th, and at the same Lukoil gas station, I didn’t interfere with anything, I didn’t fill up in unfamiliar places. They said that 95 is fine, of course there are more additives, but they pour it themselves. They advised not to get carried away with gasoline, which increases the octane number. Sometimes you can. Just their price is 99, the owner added an octane booster to the tank, and as a result the car has been sitting for a week with burnt-out valves.
The same spark plug of the third cylinder
Just the white coating is from additives. And the distance between the electrodes is large, about half a millimeter more.
They also said that on our gasoline, the spark plugs must be changed regularly every 10-15 thousand km, with an oil change. In short, I immediately went to the store and bought NGK V-Line No. 13 spark plugs.
Comparison
I installed it, the engine immediately started running smoothly, no vibration, everything was as it should be. I cleared the errors and nothing appears anymore.
I haven’t noticed any difference with the stock spark plugs yet, except that it seemed to me that they pulled better uphill.
PS Today is my car's birthday. Exactly 2 years ago I took her from the salon. So it’s symbolic that I cured her today; you could say I gave her a gift in the form of new candles.
This is how I bought it. Even the barcode is still stuck on

How does the self-diagnosis complex work?
This system is self-regulated in automatic mode. Its structural composition includes several electronic devices. Based on sensor impulses, a variety of information flows into the ECU memory, among which there are faults. They are presented in the form of designated fault codes. Car manufacturers do not support the idea that owners are inclined to independently maintain electronic systems of cars, therefore they tend not to disclose the meaning of the codes. Here we can see the noble motive of the developers, because they understand that in this way scammers can take advantage of the situation and change the settings of the electronic module, for example, reduce the odometer readings before selling the Lada Kalina car, etc.
This situation forces the manufacturer and dealers to persuade owners to service the self-diagnosis system in specialized services.
A particularly important component of this system is the on-board controller. With its help, information collected from sensors is processed and displayed on the display. Lada Kalina does not have such a device, which deprives the owner of the ability to visually read information regarding breakdowns. This is where scanning equipment comes to the rescue. Thanks to it, self-diagnosis occurs.

How to reset errors?
Upon completion of self-diagnosis, errors must be reset. How to perform this action can be found in the corresponding recommendations of the car manufacturer. In practice, it has been established that the reset procedure is identical to the manipulations to launch a new system check. Here the controllers are reset and the reset itself occurs, which is provided by special software tools present in the ECU software. The procedure is also performed during the next service in case of characteristic malfunctions. For example, code “0171” may be displayed with annoying consistency, indicating low-quality fuel in the LADA Kalina car system of the same name. This should alert the owner to changing the refueling location. Owners also consider “1545”, “0422” and “1426” to be common errors.
