Air and fuel system problem codes

P0030 means that the sensor cable, which is responsible for heating the oxygen, has broken. The break is located before the exhaust gas neutralization system. If the cable of the same sensor is shorted to ground, then code P0031 occurs. If there is a break in the circuit after the neutralizer, the number 6 will appear at the end of the code. Code P0112 is a weak signal from the sensor, which is responsible for the air temperature; if there is a strong signal, then code P0113 appears.

If there are problems with a weak throttle signal, then code P0122 appears, and a strong one - P0123. If there is a problem with the oxygen device, then error P 0130 appears. With P0133, the response to the mixture comes slowly; if error P0134 occurs, the device does not work.

If there is a lot of air in the fuel, then the code is 0171, and if it is 72, there is a lot of gasoline in the mixture. Code P0201-P0204 indicates damage to the injectors and their cables. If there is a code 0217, then the engine is heating up; if it is 0230, there is a malfunction in the fuel pump. With codes from P0261 to P0272, problems need to be looked for in the injectors.

Diagnostics

There are two ways to diagnose the condition of car systems. Let's start with the first one, which does not involve the use of additional equipment.

To start the self-diagnosis function, you need to press a button that resets the mileage for the day. Turn on the ignition. You will see how the arrows on the instruments begin to move from one position to another. This means that the diagnostics of the VAZ 2110 has been launched and information has begun to flow from the phase sensors to the ECU. After the process is completed, the RAM will transmit numbers to the display that will show the state of the car’s systems.

Decoding combinations

When the self-diagnosis is completed and the number 0 is displayed, this means that everything is in order with the vehicle and all systems are working as expected:

  • if 1 is displayed, this indicates that there are problems with the microprocessor or the RAM is failing;
  • 4 — high voltage in the network, more than 16 V;
  • if 8, then low.

If there is not one fault, but several, then a figure equal to the sum of faults will be displayed. If 6 lights up, then this will mean the sum of the numbers 2 and 4. If 14, then most likely there are three malfunctions at once, namely 2, 4 and 8.

The simplest diagnostics that is available to the driver without the use of additional equipment. It will, of course, help identify some faults, as well as show the condition of the components and systems of the VAZ 2110 as a whole. But to specifically identify all faults and decipher information coming from phase sensors, additional tools are needed. For example, the on-board computer STATE, which provides more data.

Error codes VAZ 2112

On Lada cars produced in 2001 - 2007 and subsequent ones, the manufacturer installs a BC capable of performing a self-diagnosis procedure. Thanks to this, the motorist can independently read the fault codes of the VAZ 2112 and determine the presence of a breakdown. Errors are reflected on the instrument display in the form of one or two-digit codes. The disadvantage of the procedure is the lack of an accurate determination of the location of the breakdown - self-diagnosis is only capable of a general determination of the circuit.

Faults can also be read using additional equipment. The connected scanner provides detailed information about the specific location of the breakdown.

Diagnostics using additional tools

To diagnose cars, including the VAZ 2110, various equipment is used, which is connected to a special connector. Thanks to this equipment, which is not particularly complicated or expensive, you can get a complete picture of the condition of the car.

The service station uses a personal computer to which data from phase sensors is transmitted via a special cable.

Adapter for car diagnostics

Bluetooth devices have appeared on the market that allow diagnostics using a smartphone, tablet or laptop.

They work according to the scheme. The device is connected to the connector, the ignition is turned on and the diagnostic process begins. The data comes from phase sensors to the ECU. From it to a mobile device on which specialized software must first be installed.

This makes it possible not only to obtain more data, but also to present it in a more visual form. This method allows a driver, even with little experience in operating a car (in our case, a VAZ 2110), to obtain all the data about his car.

But most drivers prefer to carry out diagnostics at a service station. So that you are aware of the data that the on-board computer produces through RAM from the phase sensors, we will present the transcripts of common errors.

Error codes VAZ 2112 8 and 16 valves on the instrument panel: decoding

In modern Lada models, a Euro shield is installed. There is an enlarged display here, where the main and secondary fault codes are displayed. On models 8 and 16 cells, the BC failure codes during self-diagnosis are identical, and the procedure for decoding them requires instructions. There are 9 direct ciphers in total. Codes can stack if there are two or more problems at the same time. If the tidy shows 21, this may mean there are problems No. 6, 7 and 8 at the same time.

If we talk about computer diagnostics, fault codes are deciphered according to a standard scheme that is relevant for all OBD2 variants.

Error 1 1

Says that a critical failure has been detected in the microprocessor system. Open the ECU module and perform a thorough diagnosis using special equipment. Simply cleaning or replacing damaged terminals often helps.

Error 2 on VAZ 2112

The actual on-board voltage differs from the set voltage. The problem may be a short circuit in the main wiring line or a critical discharge of the battery. Study the wiring and basic power components of the car.

Error 3

The fuel level sensor is damaged or not working properly. Check the condition of the float. The cause is a breakdown of the control wiring.

VAZ 2112: error 4

The code indicates that the DTOZH is out of order or is not functioning correctly. The problem should be resolved in the same way.

Error 5

The outdoor thermometer has failed. Check the sensor and its wiring.

Error 6

The code indicates overheating of the power plant. You need to stop immediately and wait for the engine to cool down.

Error 8 2112: 8 valves

Brake system malfunction. Troubleshooting begins with checking the brake fluid level and pad wear.

Error 9

The battery has gone into a deep discharge. Replace the module with a new one or charge the worn element.

What does error 10 mean?

The driver of the VAZ 2114 sees error codes on the dashboard under the speedometer.

In the list of error codes 10 on the VAZ 2114, injector 8 valves do not exist.
However, its appearance on the display is not uncommon. It means adding two known codes. To make sure that code 10 is not a glitch that arose as a result of errors stored in the computer’s memory, they can be reset by disconnecting the car’s power supply terminal from the battery. A de-energized control unit will clear the information stored in it. And if, while the car is moving, error 10 in the VAZ 2114 appears again, then you will have to understand its cause. For reference, we provide a table of codes 1-9, which can also turn out to be independent problems, or consist of codes that are similar in meaning. For example, the number 5 on the display indicates a problem with the temperature controller, and at the same time can be composed of codes 1 and 4.

How to check VAZ 2112 errors

There are 2 methods of troubleshooting on a car with an 8 and 16 liter engine - self-diagnosis and connecting with a third-party detector.

In the first option, you can look at the faults like this.

  1. Get in the car.
  2. Insert the key into the lock cylinder and do nothing else.
  3. Hold down the daily mileage key and, without releasing it, turn on the ignition (do not start the engine).
  4. Information about entering the service mode will light up on the device.
  5. Press the module control key twice.
  6. Count the errors that appear.

The second option involves connecting special equipment to the OBD2 port. Here the operation should be performed by specialists with experience in this field.

Failures in the idle speed system (IAC) and ESC

  • P0500 - speed sensor is broken.
  • P0506 - very low engine speed at idle.
  • P0507 - too high speed at idle.
  • P0511 - the XX regulator network is faulty.
  • P0560 - BS voltage is below the minimum threshold.
  • P0562 - very low voltage in the BS.
  • P0563 - very high voltage in the BS.
  • P0601 - ROM checksum error.
  • P0615 - the wires of the additional starter relay are broken.
  • P0616 - the same wires are shorted to ground.
  • P0617 - they shorted at the BS.
  • P0627 - the fuel pump relay wires are broken.
  • P0628 - the same wires are shorted to ground.
  • P0629 - they shorted it to the BS.
  • P0645 - break in the wiring of the air conditioning compressor clutch relay.
  • P0646 - the same wiring has shorted to ground.
  • P0647 - she shorted to BS.
  • P0650 - Malfunction indicator light circuit does not operate.
  • P0654 - Tachometer control circuit is faulty.
  • P0685 - the main relay electrical wire is broken.
  • P0686 - the same electrical wire has shorted to ground.
  • P0687 - he shorted it to the BS.
  • P0691 - the electrical wiring of the fan control relay is shorted to ground.
  • P0692 - the same wiring has shorted to the BS.

Note: in cases where the computer displays error codes that indicate a break in the electrical wiring of a device, before troubleshooting the problem and purchasing spare parts, you must first see if the electrical wiring plug has come out of the connector of the corresponding device. Such incidents happened. Testers and computers are, of course, good, but nothing can replace the eyes of a car enthusiast. Good luck with the repair.

Enabling and disabling APS-4

The immobilizer, even if it is activated, does not interfere with the operation of any car alarm that you decide to connect additionally. The only thing is that autostart will be impossible with it. It is possible to install a crawler or activate the Valet mode. But in the second case, the engine can be started with a blank, and in the first case, you will need to hack the alarm system.

Shutdown procedure

Of course, here we are looking at how Valet mode is turned on. It will be easy to use:

  1. Turn on the ignition without disarming the car;
  2. The diode starts blinking;
  3. The “red” key fob is brought to the reader, and the ignition is turned off while holding the key fob;
  4. The diode will light continuously and the standard alarm buzzer will sound;
  5. Remove the key fob;
  6. 3-5 seconds after step 3, the diode will start flashing intermittently;
  7. Within 10 seconds, install the key fob on the reader again;
  8. The standard alarm will produce a sound signal lasting one second, the diode will light continuously;
  9. The key fob is removed and the ignition is turned on within 10 seconds;
  10. The buzzer emits a short signal and the ignition is turned off.

Self-diagnosis procedure for Chevrolet Niva via OBD2 connector

Determine where the OBD2 connector is located

  • From 1990-1994 they are equipped with an OBD1 (GM12) connector - 12 PIN.
  • Since 1995, cars have been produced with an OBD2 connector - 16 PIN.

The location of the connector also depends on the type of connector. You can study this issue in the article: “Location of the diagnostic connector on the Chevrolet Niva”

Determine which scanner is suitable for your car

The selection of a scanner (adapter) for a Chevrolet Niva depends on the connector, as well as on the needs of the diagnostician / car owner.

To select diagnostic equipment, use the calculator: “Scanner selection for Chevrolet Niva”

Download the diagnostic program for the scanner

The diagnostic adapter requires software that can be installed on a laptop or smartphone/tablet. Auto scanners with their own software shell and display do not require software.

To select a program for the adapter, go to the section: “Programs”

Use the instructions and carry out diagnostics

When you purchase an adapter, instructions are included with the adapter. More detailed instructions on diagnostic scanners and descriptions of their operation are posted in the section: “OBD2 car scanner reviews”

Errors in the idle system and ESC of Lada Priora

P0500 – a malfunction in the sensor that is responsible for speed. When the last digit is 6, the speed is low, and when 7 is high. At 11 the regulator is broken, and at 60 the voltage is low, and at code 62 it is too low. Code 63 numbers indicate high voltage. 0601 – checksum malfunction. Code 0627 indicates tears in the fuel pump cables. With code 0645, 46 and 47 - problems with the air conditioner.

This is the main list of problems and malfunctions that occur in the car. If you decipher them correctly, then it will be much easier to repair the car and correct Priora errors. But even with the most effective equipment, you need to remember that a good auto mechanic cannot be replaced by any testing device.
