On VAZ 2110, 2111, 2112 models of later production years, a special button is installed in the car interior, with which you can open the trunk without leaving the car. During operation of the vehicle, this device stops working. What is the reason and how to solve it, we will consider later in the article.

The button is supplied with power, so the first thing you need to pay attention to is the functionality of the fuse, which is responsible for the operation of the trunk locking device. It is not difficult to find; it is located in the car’s mounting control unit with the corresponding designation F15 (20A).

If the fuse is working, proceed to check the voltage at the connecting contacts of the trunk lock. This procedure is performed using a multimeter. Some car enthusiasts use a 12V light bulb. If there is voltage on the device, the problem may be hidden in the low charge of the car battery. On cars with an alarm system installed, an additional relay often fails.

What you need to pay attention to:

  • on models equipped with a central locking system, the quality of the wiring plays an important role. Car owners are often faced with the poor quality of buttons and wires installed by “garage” technicians. If a problem occurs, you need to insert the key into the keyhole and try to simultaneously turn the key and press the trunk unlock button;
  • if nothing happens and the trunk does not open, the next step is to open the trunk lid from inside the car. Lucky are those who have models 2111 and 2112. In sedans it will be more difficult; you will have to recline the backs of the rear seats to get to the lock.

Electric drive installation – remember and reproduce!

To install the electric trunk, you will also need fuse mounts, terminals, electrical wires with a cross-section of 1 mm, electrical tape and a set of tools. Prepare all of these materials in advance to avoid distractions during the installation process. First, remove the plastic trunk trim; this must be done carefully so as not to damage it. It is secured with several bolts and plastic latches. Next, remove your lock; you need to bend one tooth in it so that when it opens, it works with one click.

Some car dealerships, when selling an electric drive, also recommend buying a lock that does not need to be modified - such a proposal is quite reasonable and will save you a lot of time. After manipulating the lock, proceed to laying the wiring. Before carrying out wiring work, you must remove the terminals from. Take power from the car's cigarette lighter, since this element of electronics is the least used and does not consume much load.

To do this, disassemble the central shaft. Install a protective fuse between the cigarette lighter and the electric drive button. This should be done in a convenient place - if it fails, it will be easy to replace. You can install the trunk release button where you like. Next, according to the diagram that comes with the electric drive, use electrical blocks to connect the power supply. Laying and installing wiring for an electric lock is best done along the thresholds of the car. The length of the cable you will need is 3.5 meters, cut off the excess.

After this, you can begin the final stage of installing the electric drive mechanism for the trunk lid. There are several ways to install the drive; the best option for us is one that does not require drilling additional holes in the trunk mount. If in your case you need to make several holes, then choose a more convenient place. Take the mounting plate and screw it into an easily accessible place and place the drive on it. The installation of the bar with the drive must be done taking into account the length of the mechanism rod.

After this, proceed to connecting the wires to the electric drive.

If connected incorrectly, the mechanism's motor will run in reverse and your lock will not open. Also install a fuse in front of the electric drive lock; this will protect you from damage to the mechanism. Carefully wrap all electrical wiring connections with insulating tape or use special heat shrink.

After this, put the terminals on the battery and check the functionality of your mechanism as a whole. There are times when you need to more accurately align the electric drive mechanism; to do this, adjust its rod. If everything is fine and your trunk lid opens and closes, then complete the wiring. When reinstalling the plastic trunk lid, if possible, stick a noise suppressor on it, this will save you from the noise that occurs when the electric trunk drive operates.

To open the trunk of a VAZ, you will need:

  • Using an awl or nail file, try to get under the door seal and press the tongue.

Method 2: Open the hood

  • You will have to crawl under the car to get the lanyard connected to the hood latch. If you can't find it, try to find it through the radiator mesh.
  • Mechanically press the tongue or simply pull the cable, the hood will open.
  • On the car battery, find the terminals with the “minus” value, click them on the mount a couple of times.
  • Since the body has a “minus” value, disconnecting it with the terminal will cause the doors to unlock.

Method 3: Open the VAZ door

  • To do this, you will need a fairly stiff wire, go to a hardware or construction store and buy it. Or use a woman's nail file, but you will still need wire.
  • Using the item of your choice, pick out the glass seal near the door lock.
  • Bend the wire with a hook and begin to push this hook into the hole formed.
  • The hook will rest against the base of the lock; twist it until the hook goes down.
  • As soon as the hook falls down, use it to hook the lock and pull the hook towards you.
  • The door is open!

In this case, not only the trunk drive will fail, but also the central locking system. Try replacing the battery in the key fob; if this does not help, it makes sense to replace the remote control.

The control button located in the cabin rarely fails. Most often the reason is in contacts. To check, remove it from the car. Then check in the simplest circuit together with the lamp. In case of malfunction, you will have to buy a new button.

Relay

. Check the trunk release relay. To do this, while being next to it, you need to press the key fob button (an assistant will be required when installing the button in the cabin). A working relay should make a click. If there is no click, then most likely the reason is in the relay; replace it.

Battery

. Sometimes the trunk lock does not work only when the engine is running. The reason for this is a weak battery. When the engine is running, the motor is started from the generator. In its absence, the battery simply does not have enough energy. This usually happens with expired batteries.
