Chevrolet Aveo ground clearance, real Chevrolet Aveo ground clearance, installation of spacers. The new dimensions of the Chevrolet Aveo sedan T300 made it more rapid and stable Chevrolet Aveo hatchback road car

The dimensions of the Chevrolet Aveo indicate its compactness, but the appearance of the car creates some illusion of a large car. In fact, the dimensions of the Chevrolet Aveo do not exceed 4 meters 40 centimeters for the sedan, and the size of the Aveo hatchback is even smaller.

This is what we will talk about today. By the way, you can read a full review of the characteristics of the Chevrolet Aveo with photos, if you are only interested in the dimensions, then this information is in this article.

If we compare the dimensions of the previous generation Chevrolet Aveo sedan , it turns out that the new version has become larger. The length has increased from 4,310 mm to 4,399 mm. Width from 1,710 to 1,735 mm, height was 1,505 mm became 1,517. As for the old generation Aveo hatchback (T250), it was smaller than the new hatch.

The increase in the size of the current generation Chevrolet Aveo (T300) has had a positive effect on trunk volume and interior space. In the old version, the sedan had a trunk of 400 liters, the second generation has 502 liters of volume. The Aveo hatchback has increased its luggage compartment by 70 liters. Today the wheelbase is 2,525 mm; the previous version was only 2,480 mm. That is, the length of the cabin has increased by 4.5 centimeters.

As for the Chevrolet Aveo ground clearance or ground clearance, the previous generation of the Aveo sedan had a clearance of 155 mm, and the hatchback 150 mm. Today's Chevrolet Aveo has a ground clearance of 155 mm according to official data, but in reality it is about 150 mm. In any case, this is always a controversial issue. The reason for this is the possibility of using different wheels and tires with different profile heights. After all, on the Aveo you can put wheels of either 15 or 16 inches or R 17 in size. Believe me, any manipulations with wheel sizes can change the ground clearance of any car, both increasing and decreasing ground clearance. Detailed dimensions of the sedan and hatchback are below.

Aesthetic appearance

The look of the new Chevrolet Aveo sedan is sporty, swift and a little predatory. The traditional grille with chrome strip is replaced by a double false grille with a high-gloss surround. Each of the four headlights is located in a separate well under the curve of the hood. Below, fog lights are installed in protruding round lampshades, like cannons.

The smooth roof line, typical of racing cars, ends with a trunk lid. Stamped lines along the body give the car speed. Large discs under the protruding arches of the wings give its appearance aggressiveness and stability.

The harmony of the sedan's image is spoiled by the rear lights. They are large, extending to the sides and are too bulky and bright for fast sports shapes.

The torpedo has changed more significantly than the body. The panel is designed similarly to the instrument layout on racing motorcycles. All information about speed, revolutions and fuel consumption is displayed on one screen and is easy to read. There is an additional glove compartment and a case for glasses in the left front door.

During the design of the Aveo, changes were made to the frame design and steering rod adjustment. As a result, lateral roll when driving is almost completely eliminated. The car at a planned speed of 150 km/h is stable, obedient, without surprises in any driving mode. On city streets and highways it behaves equally stable.

The Chevrolet Aveo T250 sedan was presented to motorists in September 2005 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The car was produced from 2006 to 2022, it was replaced by the third generation with the factory index T300.

New Chevrolet:

The history of the Chevrolet Aveo T250 sedan did not end in 2022; with a new name, it is produced in Ukraine at the Zaporozhye Automobile Plant.

The Aveo was designed by Italian auto fashion stylists, and cars were produced at many GM assembly plants in different parts of the world (Korea, Russia, China) and sold in more than 160 countries. Aveo T250 represents the Korean branch of DAT of the American company Chevrolet, which in turn is part of the mega automobile concern General Motors.

The 2006 Aveo sedan body has a pronounced chopped, wedge-shaped shape. The front part has rectangular high-mounted headlights, a miniature false radiator grille, richly dressed in chrome-look plastic. The front bumper has sharp edges that extend onto the hood, there are air intake slots in the lower part of the front fairing and foglights located at the edges of the spotlight.

Photos of a Chevrolet Aveo in the old side body show the severity of the lines, a littered windshield pillar, a flat roof, and a lean trunk. The stylish and sporty look is emphasized by the stampings of the wheel arches and a bright rib on the side door handles.

The rear of the Aveo T 250 sedan continues the chopped forms of the front part, everything is strict and laconic. The rear bumper, trunk lid are rectangular in configuration and large lighting “chandeliers” are in the shape of isosceles triangles. It would not be amiss to note that the old Aveo has a galvanized body.

Problems during operation

Aveo is characterized by characteristic problems that often appear on different cars.

  1. Defective body metal. The thickness of the body metal is not thick enough, which can lead to the formation of cracks in the body. Particularly characteristic of Aveo is the formation of cracks in the places where the rear seat backs are attached. They first appear as a crackling sound in the trunk area when driving on an uneven surface. If you ignore the problem, the cracks will gradually grow, which can only be corrected by spot welding the body.
  2. The weak point of the Aveo is the front shock absorber struts. The problem is manifested by characteristic knocking and squeaking when driving on uneven surfaces, when the suspension needs to work out the unevenness of the road surface. Therefore, the racks have to be constantly changed. Ideally, you need to replace them with reinforced ones, which will reduce wear and get rid of annoying knocking.
  3. Rapid wear of engine hydraulic compensators. The problem is manifested by a characteristic knocking sound coming from the engine compartment when driving. To accurately identify the cause of a breakdown, computer diagnostics is necessary.
  4. Excessive oil change interval and engine oil starvation. By default, the manufacturer has set the engine oil change interval to 15 thousand km for a model with a 1.2-liter engine. If you change the oil according to the manual, you will notice increased wear on the camshaft and clogging of the oil line nozzle. Oil starvation threatens wear of the cylinder head, which can only be corrected by replacing it. To avoid the problem, it is necessary to reduce the oil change interval to 10 thousand km.
  5. All Aveo engines are characterized by prolonged warm-up in the cold season. This is especially true for the 1.2 liter engine. The reason for this phenomenon lies in the thermostat, which rarely withstands more than 50 thousand kilometers.

In general, Aveo can be characterized as a car that is worth the money. The model's shortcomings are more than compensated for by its low cost - among competitors for this money you can only find Chinese or domestic cars, which have no fewer shortcomings and inherent problems than the Aveo.

In our country, only two engines were sold, but there are actually 3 of them in the line. Of course, they do not stand out with high power, but they are enough for ordinary city driving. Now let's discuss them in more detail.

  1. The first unit is a 16-valve 1.2-liter engine. It is, of course, naturally aspirated and produces 84 horsepower and 114 units of torque. With this engine, the sedan accelerates to the first hundred in 13 seconds, and the maximum speed is 170 km/h. Consumption is around 7 liters in the city and 5 liters on the highway.
  2. The second engine in the Chevrolet Aveo T250 line is 1.4, which produces 101 horsepower and 131 H*m of torque. The dynamics have become better, namely 12 seconds to hundreds and 175 km/h maximum speed. Consumption is more - 8 liters in the city and also 5 liters on the highway.
  3. The 1.6-liter engine is the most powerful in the line. It is also naturally aspirated, but already produces 109 horses and 150 H*m of torque. Unfortunately, there is no data on how much it consumes and what its dynamics are, but most likely they do not differ much from the previous engine.

The car has an independent suspension at the front, the well-known MacPherson strut, and a semi-independent system at the rear – a beam. The car is stopped using front disc brakes, which are ventilated. Drum brakes are used at the rear. The gearboxes in the lineup are as follows: 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic. The car has front-wheel drive.

Chevrolet aveo 2022: stay at the peak of popularity

The laws of the automobile market are indeed very cruel. The slightest delay of any company allows competitors to immediately bypass it in terms of the popularity of their cars. It seems that this time the Chevrolet company reacted in time to the possible machinations of its closest rivals and began to systematically refresh the Aveo model range, offering its next new product to a wide range of the global community of car enthusiasts - the Chevrolet Aveo 2022.

Only time will tell how successful this was, but, nevertheless, in 2021–2022. Chevrolet presented two design options for the Aveo body at once: a hatchback (Paris auto show - 2021) and a sedan (Detroit - 2021). Moreover, the American version of the new sedan is proudly called Sonic.

In a word, car enthusiasts can expect a pleasant meeting with another representative of the family of "B" class city cars from Chevrolet - the Chevrolet Aveo 2022. The manufacturer assures that easy handling and maneuverability, a sleek sporty and at the same time respectable and elegant appearance, strength and speed, practicality and The cost-effectiveness of the new product are its main features, which will help it stand out from the general mass of cars.

Exterior

In its appearance, the new generation of Chevrolet Aveo was significantly different from the previous series (T-200 and T-250). The exterior of both the sedan and the hatchback (the car was produced in two body styles) became more sporty, stylish and even moderately aggressive. This was largely achieved through the following design solutions:

  1. Unusual head optics. The car received rectangular headlights with two clearly defined, separated “wells” - one for low beam, the other for high beam. It looks impressive, especially against the background of black matte plastic that frames them.
  2. Trapezoidal two-level radiator grille. It is made in the “family” style of more expensive Chevrolet models - with a division in the center and a large cross-shaped nameplate. In addition, in some trim levels it was complemented by chrome edging, giving the exterior greater solidity.
  3. Lots of ribs, stampings and curves on the body. Similar elements (swollen wheel arches, distinct lines on the sides of the hood and at the bottom of the doors) brought dynamism to the car's appearance.
  4. Smooth roof line. Moreover, with a noticeable slope in the rear. This solution is more typical for sports cars from the C and D-class, so seeing it on a budget foreign car is doubly pleasant.
  5. Streamlined and massive bumpers. Say a tribute to fashion? But no. The bumpers are very large. In addition, unlike the body, there are practically no stampings on them.

More about Aveo: Chevrolet Aveo

All the described innovations in appearance were positively assessed by the public. However, many did not like the design of the rear of the Chevrolet Aveo. As experts say, the image of a dynamic and modern car was spoiled by incomprehensible rear lights that did not fit into the overall style. It's hard to disagree with this. Although in general the exterior of both the sedan and the hatchback is a solid “B”.

Advantages and disadvantages

Aveo is a budget model, so it is characterized by the advantages and disadvantages inherent in the class of inexpensive compact cars itself. Owners of the model note the following advantages of the car.

  1. Low cost. The new Aveo was one of the most inexpensive offers on the market; used cars were also cheaper than their classmates. This is a key point in the positioning of the model - for little money, buyers received a high-quality and fairly spacious car with a worldwide reputation.
  2. Economical. The small volume of Aveo engines allows you to save money even when traveling around the city - gasoline consumption does not exceed 9 liters per 100 km in city mode.
  3. Decent equipment. Despite the cheapness, the model is equipped with a fairly high quality - Aveo boasts electric windows, full power accessories, an ABS system, fog lights, air conditioning, interior heating and much more. Aveo's competitors were either more expensive in similar configurations, or were poorly equipped with similar price tag sizes.
  4. High level of comfort. The latest generation Aveo had an “omnivorous” suspension that efficiently absorbed uneven surfaces even on poor surfaces. The comfort of Chevrolet's compact compares favorably with its classmates, which are designed for a sportier driving style and have stiffer suspensions.
  5. Luggage compartment capacity. The second generation boasts a volume of 500 liters in the sedan body, the hatchback has 300 liters of usable trunk volume, but with the rear seats folded down it increases to 650 liters. Such indicators are comparable to cars of a higher class.
  6. Corrosion resistance. The paintwork is worthy of praise - despite the lack of galvanization, Aveo is not prone to rust.

Aveo also has its drawbacks, primarily due to the budget model. Owners of the model note the following disadvantages.

  1. Low level of sound comfort. The lack of sound insulation of the car leads to the fact that at high speeds or on poor surfaces, driving in the Aveo is uncomfortable due to noise.
  2. Creaky plastic interior. The budget nature of the model is fully manifested in the interior decoration - due to its low quality plastic, the car is characterized by the appearance of “crickets” and creaks.
  3. Poor aerodynamics. One of the reasons for the low level of sound comfort is the poor aerodynamic capabilities of the car. They also affect the dynamic characteristics, as well as the pollution of the car while driving - protruding side mirrors constantly collect dirt. Side windows also tend to get dirty, especially in rainy or snowy weather.
  4. Poor level of security. The base model is equipped with only two airbags, which is not enough for a modern car. Aveo also had low crash test scores.
  5. Blind spot of mirrors. The unique design of the side mirrors allows the formation of blind spots. It is almost impossible to adjust the mirrors so that there are no blind spots.
