Many modifications are made to a car to attract the attention of others. Most often these are cosmetic changes, but there is one functional upgrade that is popular among car tuning enthusiasts. It allows the driver not only to express himself to others, but also to improve the power characteristics of the car. We are talking about installing a direct-flow muffler, which is commonly called a direct-flow muffler. In this article, we will look at how to install direct flow on a car, as well as what pros and cons it brings.
Replacing the exhaust pipe (pants) of the muffler
The most common reason why you have to replace pants on a VAZ 2109-2108 car is burnout. This doesn’t happen very often, but once every 100 thousand km this problem can arise. So, to replace the exhaust pipe, we need a minimum of keys, namely:
- deep head 13 with ratchet
- Open-end wrench or socket wrench 13
First of all, unscrew the four nuts securing the pants to the exhaust manifold of the VAZ 2109-2108. The location of this fastener is shown more clearly in the photo below:
Then you need to pull the pants off the heels, just so that they move a little to the side. It is also necessary to unscrew the nuts and bolts securing the exhaust pipe to the body bracket, if such a fastening is present. Personally, this was no longer the case on my old nine, apparently someone removed it so as not to experience unnecessary difficulties in the future.
Now we climb under the car, lifting its front part with a jack or performing this procedure in a pit, and unscrew the nuts on the clamps connecting the pants and the resonator:
After the clamp is unscrewed even on one side, you can lift it up and the exhaust pipe is disconnected from the car's resonator, since nothing else connects them.
And now you can remove the pants through the bottom, turning them from side to side, finding the optimal position for removal. Please note that at the junction between them there is a thick o-ring so that it does not roll away when removed and then you do not have to look for it
