Ford Focus 2 tank how many liters - Gas tank volume Ford Focus 1, 2, 3 (Ford Focus) of all generations and modifications TABLE

The second generation Ford Focus is a budget car that was introduced in 2005 and was produced until 2011. During its presence on the market, it has undergone restyling, mainly regarding its appearance, which has become much more interesting. In the Russian Federation, as in other countries of the world, this model is extremely popular due to its reliability, modernity and efficiency. Moreover, a large selection of engines and trim levels made it possible to choose a car at a fairly low price, which also had a positive impact on popularity.

The second generation FordFocus came in a variety of body styles, including:

  • Sedan (the best-selling option, since it combines external beauty, a spacious trunk and efficiency, which is valued by car enthusiasts in the post-Soviet space).
  • Hatchback (the most attractive and modern of the entire family, which has many advantages; thanks to its interesting style, it was popular among young people).
  • Station wagon (a less popular body type of the Ford Focus, but with more serious capabilities for transporting cargo).
  • Convertible (this option is very rare, but it is a very elegant car; it has a hard roof).

Since the Ford Focus is equipped with an internal combustion engine, its energy source is fuel, which is stored in a special tank. In our article we will talk about what volume and how many liters need to be poured into the Ford Focus fuel tank. It should be noted that this model is a small-volume vehicle, and therefore does not require a large fuel tank.

What gasoline to fill Ford Focus 2 with, manufacturer's recommendations

Gasoline for Ford Focus: 92nd or 95th?

Recommended gasoline for Ford Focus 2 is 95! This can also be seen on the sticker on the inside of the gas filler flap. But the question of the type of fuel to be filled, in particular gasoline, into a car is always quite acute for every owner. Moreover, the manufacturer, as a rule, indicates the main type of fuel and the acceptable one.

Essence of the question

There is an opinion among car owners that expensive gasoline is of higher quality, and this circumstance is of decisive importance, given the long-term consequences on the life of the engine and all components of the fuel system. So, is it necessary to overpay when filling the tank with 95 gasoline? Or can you save a little by using 92 gasoline?

Drivers do not try to conduct independent research, since the operating conditions of the car may be different. Subjective arguments are more often used, talking about increased power, slower acceleration, reduced fuel consumption and other indicators.

Therefore, in the question of which gasoline is better, you should take into account the results of those tests that are carried out by authoritative publications for your model and brand.

Carrying out an inspection

For a popular and mass-produced car, such as the Ford Focus, you can conduct the following test. On a dynamometer stand, with the drive wheels on it, measure the following indicators:

  1. Torque at certain speeds.
  2. Average fuel consumption at a speed of 90 km/h.

Measurements made for two brands of gasoline showed that the engine power decreased by only 0.1 Nm, and fuel consumption increased by the same 0.1 liters. Thus, a discrepancy of results within less than 1% cannot in any way affect the technical and economic characteristics of the car. The only note related to possible detonation when using gasoline with a lower octane number is to avoid high loads on the engine.

Considering the difference in cost, the average price of 92 gasoline is 31.1 rubles, versus 34.4 rubles. – the price is 95 gasoline, you can calculate the possible savings. With an average mileage of 10,000 km per year, the savings will be about 2.5 thousand rubles.

How does gasoline quality affect?

An important fact is where you refuel. When carrying out any experiments, you need to take into account that the gasoline consumption and power demonstrated by the engine are greatly influenced by the factor of the company from which you purchase fuel. Of course, it is also not so easy to obtain such information yourself, however, you can glean the necessary information, again same with automotive experts in this field.

Some other indirect indicators of fuel quality may be:

  1. The cost of gasoline.
  2. Developed network of gas stations.
  3. Client network size.
  4. Complete design of information stands.
  5. Availability of discount programs and others.

When using higher quality gasoline from branded gas stations, you can be prepared that the price of 1 liter may be another ruble, or a little more, more expensive. However, as research shows, as well as the practice of operating cars, when using the required fuel (in this case, 95 gasoline), its consumption no longer changes significantly. But you can expect some increase in torque, i.e. the engine is able to work with greater efficiency.

What is somewhat more important here is not the octane number, but the negative consequences that remain after using gasoline with additives. The chemical composition of gasoline negatively affects motor oil, reducing its viscosity and lubricity. Deposits on the metal surfaces of the motor also significantly reduce its service life.

Using 92 gasoline of better quality does not have any great effect on increasing engine power. But fuel consumption may change slightly towards a decrease. But again, reducing consumption by 0.1 - 0.2 liters will not lead, from the point of view of monetary savings, to such a big gain as you can lose when repairing an engine from using gasoline from unverified gas stations.

In terms of quality, the least complaints are caused by reputable companies that produce automobile fuel: Rosneft, LUKOIL, TNK. These companies have their own oil refineries, and this fact helps maintain the quality of gasoline at a constant level.

Intermediate output

Thus, having assessed the impact that refueling with gasoline with 92 and 95 octane numbers has, you can see that the savings are not significant - from 2.5 to 5 thousand per year, depending on the mileage.

At the same time, when refueling, you need to focus on using higher quality gasoline, since the savings in money turn out to be negligible, and the consequences of the destructive effect on the engine are very significant.

What about the engine?

So, the use of low-quality gasoline has led to negative consequences, and the engine needs to be repaired. What should a car owner prepare for?

First of all, you need to understand that the use of low-quality or low-octane gasoline affected not only glow plugs. Most likely, the piston system, including the crankshaft, was damaged. And due to deterioration in oil quality, other mechanisms and systems could be subject to wear. We need to prepare for a major engine overhaul.

The cost of a major overhaul of the first generation Ford Focus engine is estimated, depending on the complexity and volume of work, at 20 thousand rubles, and if you purchase a new engine, you can spend up to 28 thousand rubles.

When repairing a Ford Focus 2 engine, the price will also not exceed 20 thousand rubles, and the cost of a replacement engine, depending on the volume, will be within 30 thousand rubles.

It is difficult to make an estimate in case the Ford Focus 3 engine needs to be repaired, but the price is unlikely to differ less than that indicated for earlier cars.

Thus, we can say that all the savings that the owner could get for himself over a service life of 100 thousand km will most likely be required for him to carry out a major overhaul of the engine.

For some reason I have the number 55 in my head where it came from. I won’t argue, since I didn’t particularly bother with this issue.

When calculating on my computer, it fits minus 8-10 liters. At work ff2, 2006. it is put into the tank exactly according to calculations.

there was a story of traveling south. So we're going with 2 focus mines and 1.6 training ones. We refueled together, but I got closer to zero 30 km earlier than the 1.6. We are driving, there are 2 km left before the gas station and there are no gas stations, we stopped and smoked and we don’t know what to do. We decided where it would stall from there and pull it. We drove about another 70 km and then we stopped for gas, we thought that I was going on air!)) I think that there is at least 10 liters left when it says 0.

So as not to burn the fuel pump and not to sip mud from the bottom, there are 10-15 liters there. I drove 140km on mine at 0km when I showed it. And then I filled in 56 liters out of 63
