  1. Unscrew the dipstick from the gearbox (located next to the thermostat and starter).
  2. Wipe the dipstick with a dry, clean cloth.
  3. Insert it back and after 10 - 15 seconds remove it again.
  4. The amount of oil on the dipstick should tend to about or be slightly higher.
  5. Screw the dipstick into place.

Topping up oil

Before starting the operation, be sure to check the level using a check plug or dipstick, and also remember what kind of oil is currently poured into the gearbox. Adding other oil is strictly prohibited, both in terms of viscosity and production. Strictly the same brand and the same viscosity. For topping up, an oil syringe or funnel is used, at the ends of which a flexible long hose is placed, and the connection point is firmly fixed with electrical tape. When to replace?

Referring to the plant regulations, check the level and condition of the oil every 15 thousand kilometers, take 0 km as the reference point, replace it every 40 - 70 thousand km, based on the properties and composition of the oil. Device of the VAZ-2110 gearbox

On VAZ 2110 - 2112 cars, a two-shaft 5-speed gearbox is used, combined with a differential and final drive. On the drive (primary) shaft there is a gear block that is in constant contact (engagement) with the driven gear block. The driven shaft with a removable gear and three synchronizers, just like on the drive shaft, is responsible for gears from 1st to 5th. The rear-wheel drive (R gear) is located in a separate unit.

Which oil is better to choose?

The factory instructions allow the use of oils that meet API standards - SG, SH, SJ. Depending on these parameters, the behavior of the oil in winter, at fairly low temperatures, differs. Access to the control plug is blocked by the crankcase protection. If the plug was not unscrewed during preparation, measure exactly 2.2 liters. And if the control is carried out “according to regulations”, let the body be tilted to the right: place a suitable load in the passenger compartment or trunk. Tilt angle – 2-3 degrees (no longer needed).

One of the common problems with VAZ cars is vibration and, as a result, rattling of the gearbox knob. There may be several reasons for this disease, and one of them is the location where the jet rod is attached to the gearbox. Let's look at how this connection can be modified.

So, the source of vibration of the gearshift knob is the reaction rod (2110-1703300), or rather the place where it is attached to the gearbox (eye 2110-1703183). The reason for the transmission of vibration by the jet thrust is that it is screwed to the box not through a rubber bushing (for example, like on the Moskvich 2141), but directly through a steel tip.

Therefore, all vibration from the gearbox is transmitted through the rod to the gearshift knob. Vibration also worsens gear shifting in an already imperfect gearbox. Simply put, there is a rubber damper in the eye, but due to the design of AvtoVAZ, it does not participate in vibration damping. The solution to the problem is simple: instead of a damper, you need to insert Volgov bushings into the eye (but any size rubber with a total length of 8 cm will do, for example this bushing). It is better not to install hard rubber, and in general, the less you clamp the bushing, the less vibration. We push the rubber bushing into the tip:
