Steering
Here Vesta wins undoubtedly, it has the best taxiing in its class. She is sharp and informative. This is partly due to the fact that the rail has a lower location and is mounted on a rigid subframe. The Granta's taxiing is somewhat blurry, especially in the near zero position. This is due to the design heritage from the VAZ-2108.
The rail is attached to the body panel; the structure does not have high rigidity. The backlash ultimately gives the taxiing performance we have.
An important point: when driving on an uneven road, all impacts transmitted to the body inevitably fall on the rack and steering wheel. There will be no such effect on Vesta. The disadvantage of Grants in technical terms is its advantage in another way. The simpler the machine is technically, the cheaper it is, and the lower the cost of spare parts. This is the main advantage over Vesta. It will be cheaper not only during purchase, but also after it. Granta is cheaper to maintain than Vesta.
Both cars are paired with a 1.6 liter engine with a 5-speed manual transmission with the VAZ-2181 index. The box is simple, reliable, unpretentious, but noisy. The transmission noise from it in the Vesta’s cabin can be heard much less, since the sound insulation is better. This is especially noticeable when driving on the highway.
