Our Granta is now in her historical homeland - in the city of Tolyatti.
In the automotive capital of Russia, they not only produce LADA cars, but also produce all kinds of additional equipment, elements for tuning and styling. We decided to take the opportunity and install air conditioning in the Lada Granta - it turned out to be quite simple and relatively inexpensive. AVTOVAZ has not yet installed air conditioners on the LADA Granta assembly line, but plans to do so very soon. Meanwhile, more than 10,000 non-air conditioned cars are sold every month.
We decided to buy a kit for installing the Lada Granta air conditioner in, especially since we don’t have much choice - at the moment they are the only ones who produce this equipment for the Granta.
I was worried about several questions before deciding whether to install air conditioning in Granta or not. Firstly, this is a chance to lose the factory warranty on the car, and secondly, a possible loss of engine power when using Frost equipment. But, in the end, the desire to spend the summer at a comfortable temperature behind the wheel outweighed the concerns. By the way, so as not to invent answers to the questions that I asked myself, we will get answers to them very soon. The first maintenance and planned test of Our Granta is just around the corner on the high-speed ring of the test site in Sosnovka, where it is easy to check the behavior of the car at maximum speed with and without the air conditioner on.
The final decision to install air conditioning on Our Granta was made at the All-Russian rally of LADA car lovers in Nizhny Novgorod, in which the guys from FROST also took part in a black Lada Granta with air conditioning. It was then that I checked the operation of the equipment and received a discount card for the purchase of an air conditioner.

This is commendable, but what’s important to me is that everything fits into the car without modifications and, most importantly, works.

Air conditioning device on Lada cars
Depending on the vehicle’s configuration, AvtoVAZ can equip it with a heating and ventilation or climate control system. The Lada Priora, Granta, Kalina, Largus, Vesta, Niva 4x4 and XRAY models use the same type of climate systems. The following is a diagram of the location of all air conditioner elements, as well as their description.

Capacitor
Air conditioner radiator. It condenses refrigerant vapor (freon) and transfers the heat released to the surrounding air. The condenser is located on the frame in front of the radiator of the engine cooling system.
Capacitor check
The condenser is located in front of the radiator; during its operation, especially in summer, it becomes very dirty. The accumulation of pollution leads to disruption of heat exchange processes, and this negatively affects the operation of the entire climate system. Checking the condenser consists of a visual inspection by the car owner, which is carried out through the lower radiator grille. If there is serious contamination, it is strongly recommended to clean the radiator using compressed air or a brush.
How to install air conditioning on Lada Granta?
It's already June 3rd, which means summer has finally arrived. Well, in the summer, as you know, it can be very hot and driving a car without air conditioning is, to put it mildly, not a pleasant experience. It happens that you leave your car in the sun and go to the office, and when you come back a few hours later and open the door, you find yourself in a sauna rather than in a car.
