Replacement procedure

First way

  1. Place the car on a flat surface, install wheel chocks under the rear wheels.
  2. Place the gearshift knob in first speed mode and turn on the handbrake.
  3. Remove the protective cap from the hub nut. The nut must be unlocked. If problems arise due to over-tightening the nut, you will have to pick up a drill and drill out the fasteners with the appropriate drill bit.
  4. Using a 30mm socket and a long lever (to apply less force), rip the nut from its place and loosen the tension a little. But don't remove it completely.
  5. If the nut does not budge, it may be caused by it rotating at the same time as the wheels. Therefore, your partner needs to press the brake pedal, while you remove the nut.
  6. Next, loosen the wheel bolts and lift the car with a jack. Be sure to install safety bricks and pieces of wood under the thresholds. This will prevent the car from accidentally tipping over. Lower the machine onto the support.
  7. Unscrew the wheel bolts completely and remove the wheel itself.
  8. Remove the nut that sits on the steering knuckle.
  9. Use a special puller to press out the steering pin. If you don’t have a puller, you can carefully use a pry bar and a hammer.
  10. Remove the strut by unscrewing the three nuts on top and one long bolt on the bottom. After this, the old bearing is removed, a new one is installed in its place and the reassembly procedure is carried out.

Here we will do without wheel alignment adjustment. Therefore, the operations will be slightly different.

  1. Remove the pair of bolts holding the ball joint in place.
  2. Disconnect the brake line fasteners from the shock absorber strut. Before doing this, you need to remove the bolts that hold the caliper. Next, the working part of the brake mechanism is suspended from the suspension elements.
  3. Unscrew the strut nut not completely.
  4. Remove the three mounting nuts holding the shock absorber in place.
  5. At the same time, unscrew the CV joint nut. Now unscrew it all the way.
  6. Pull the grenade and remove the stand out.
  7. The spring is removed from the rack using a puller.
  8. After pulling the spring, unscrew the old, worn bearing. Place a new element in its place.
  9. Perform the reassembly procedure.
  10. When installing the hub nut, never use old fasteners. This nut is a one-time use component, therefore, after each dismantling job, it must be replaced with a new one.
  11. When tightening the new nut, be sure to lock it after tightening.
