Installing a tunnel from Granta to Kalina with your own hands - step-by-step instructions

Many of you are already aware that the floor tunnel lining from Granta is perfectly installed in the Kalina’s interior, and at the same time solves a lot of problems at once. Firstly, it looks more solid, secondly it covers more of what shouldn’t be visible, thirdly it adds the necessary elements to the interior, such as cup holders, as well as additional ones. shelf for various small items.

It’s inexpensive, why not install one for yourself, especially since there are already plenty of installation instructions. Before installation, it is important to remember some points that need to be agreed upon.

It is necessary to move the ECU under the glove compartment for access after installing the new tunnel. By the way, this should be done even by those who do not intend to install such cladding for themselves. The reason is due to the fact that, as a result of design miscalculations, Kalin ECUs are often filled with antifreeze in case of problems with the stove. To prevent this from happening, it is better to move the “brains” to a more reliable and dry place.
The cigarette lighter needs to be moved. Well, I think there are no problems here, all that is needed is to make a hole in the tunnel on the passenger side.
Painting. The lining of Granta's floor tunnel does not match Kalina's color scheme, so this issue needs to be resolved. You need to either cover the plastic with film, paint it, or leave it as is.

To work you need to prepare:

Lada Granta floor tunnel lining assembly (code: 21900-5109154-00);
Decorative cover for gear shift lever (code: 21900-5109070-00).

Tunnel from Granta to Kalina - dismantling the “original plastic”

The first step is to dismantle the old plastic; the Kalinovsky tunnel is secured with five self-tapping screws. To unscrew the rear distant screw, you need to tighten the handbrake, remove its plastic cover, as well as the brake limit, after which you will gain access.

The front sides are held in place by only two self-tapping screws, one on each side.

The last two screws are located on the side and cannot be missed.
Next, remove the handbrake cover and the gear shift lever cover, the heating control buttons, if any, as well as the fuse box. Disconnect the power supply.

We move the seats back as far as possible, after which we calmly remove the tunnel.

Now we dismantle the cigarette lighter, which will be useful to us later.

When the old Kalina floor tunnel has been dismantled and the new one from Granta has not yet been installed, you can easily see the difference and differences between them simply by placing them side by side.

Do-it-yourself grants floor tunnel on Kalina - installation

First of all, we install the cigarette lighter; to do this, you need to make a hole for it. You can use a drill and select a bit of the desired diameter. Or you can make a hole with something, and then widen it to the desired size using a sharp knife and sandpaper.

Next, we proceed directly to the installation of the tunnel itself. We connect the connectors (heater, cigarette lighter, diagnostic socket). We bring the diagnostic block and fuse box closer to the gearbox, then we mount it under the tunnel. To do this, you can use various solutions, tape, clamps, etc.

We fasten the “Grant” tunnel with self-tapping screws. Due to the fact that the product is solid and, in fact, represents one piece, fewer screws are needed. The sidewalls require one self-tapping screw, and not two as before.

How to remove the central tunnel on Lada Granta and Lada Kalina

In some cases, when repairing or modifying a car, it is necessary to remove the central floor tunnel (popularly called the “beard”). On Lada Granta and Lada Kalina cars this process is performed in a similar way.

Remove the protective cover of the parking brake No. 2 by unscrewing the three fastening screws No. 1 (Phillips screwdriver).

Remove the handbrake limit switch bracket No. 2 by unscrewing bolt No. 1 (head “13”)

Unscrew screw No. 1 securing the floor covering (Phillips screwdriver)

Remove the left and right tunnel linings by removing two fastening screws on each side (Phillips screwdriver).

Remove the gearshift lever skirt (by prying up the fasteners with a screwdriver) and the gearshift knob itself (for a manual transmission, turn it counterclockwise, for an automatic transmission, unscrew the two fastening screws on the rod, for an AMT, pull it up).

Raise the handbrake and remove the floor tunnel.

Removing the central floor tunnel Grants
